I backpacked with two others around South America last summer, and stayed in the Secret Garden in Quito. Note- there is no kitchen at the hostel and therefore you cannot self cater, this means that you either need to eat out (which is a lot cheaper), or eat at the hostel, which was quite expensive for what you got, although...

I needed a place to plan my next travel, after many suggestions I ended up here. Amazing place, super cosy with lots of different places to hang out. I joined the free walking tour what was really nice. They provided you with all possible information and help. This hostel has a big capacity and they are putting a great effort...

This is a busy hostel with an amazing view from the roof deck. The hostel itself is a maze of rooms and corridors over 2 seperate 3 story areas. Pretty cool set up. We liked our room here and the bathroom were ok despite a lot of traffic. Hot water! The staff were very helpful and the breakfast, although extra,...

We had a private double room with shared bathroom which were clean. All toilets and bathrooms are cleaned 2 times a day. The hostel is very good to meet new people, offers you a nice meal and breakfast for a few dollar every evening/morning. There is a party bus going at 23:00 to bring everyone who wants to mariscal. After...

Great hostel with beautiful views, really safe/ secure and fab communal atmosphere as everyone eats dinner together. Best part is the roof terrace which was so lovely to chill out on. Comfy beds, but one thing is that even though we booked well in advance, when my friend and I arrived they split us up into different dorm rooms which...

When I first visited, I was not used to the kind of place as I never had to share a room with someone I don't know... But this ended up being one of my favorite places in my country!!! You can share so much with different people from other cultures, it's amazing!!! I love it, and the place is confortable...

This is a nice hostel - good rooftop area and they offer a different dinner each night for $5 per person. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is in a good location to explore from. The first night we stayed we were placed in room A2 which is the first room when entering the hostel. As a result...

Its a very nice hostel, great place to meet other travellers and in the beautyful old town. It is from walking distance of the cultural monuments of the old town. They have an excellent taxiservice, and great advice.

Wifi is absolutely awful. When you are able to actually load a page it is painstakingly slow. They only have a router on the terrace and then the 3rd floor - this means no wifi in rooms or other floors unless you're next to the router, even then it barely works. If you need to do research for your trip...

This was centrally located to everything you would need and want as a tourist. The market (which had cheap and filling meals), the Cathedral, and the balcony with amazing views of the city! Breakfast was available (extra charge) but worth it and again, the view is what you'd be looking at over your meal. There was free water, coffee, tea...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Secret Garden Quito is a friendly Australian/Ecuadorian/French family run hostel conveniently located in a quiet, authentic cobble-stone street in central Quito. Our 'barrio', or neighbourhood, is one of the few remaining Colonial districts and even our building is protected by a United Nations World Heritage listing. With a big improvement in security in the Old Town in recent years, plus 24 hour police patrols, our neighbourhood now enjoys a level of safety and security equal to (or often better than!!) most international capital cities. But there's more!!Our beautifully restored colonial building features a rooftop terrace/restaurant/bar with breathtaking views of the historical Old Town. Feel free to browse our hostal book exchange, chat with our friendly Ecuadorian and foreign staff, check your email (free use of computer and free Wifi), or just relax listening to any of our wide selection of music. ... more   less
