One of, if not my favourite hostel so far in my 2.5 months in South America. 5 star view of the city from the upstairs breakfast/dinner terrace, which happens to be really social :) great vibes, was easy for a solo traveler like me to socialise. Hot water, and cosy rooms, also sits on top of the carpe diem travel... More

We had 2 bed in an 8 bed dorm. One of the 2 beds, the mattress was beyond usable. We asked the staff to change bed and there was no issues doing so. That being said the mattresses should be upgraded. No ladder to get on one of the beds so needed a stool to get up. A bit ridiculous... More

I booked my First 2 nights in secret garden in Quito and had a lovely stay. They arranged an airport pick up and the staff was really friendly. In total a really nice hostel, a beautiful view from the terasse, nice rooms, very close to the old town, and a place to feel cozy and welcomed.

The showers are gross. They are honest about this - some showers have better pressure than others, just don't forget your shower shoes. The beds are clean. Rooms could use painting to freshen up. Bar/lounge on the top floor is the best part of the hostel. So feel free to stay else where and just come get your meals here.... More

This was my first experience with any hostel. I thought this was a good, inexpensive place to stay in Quito. Breakfast and dinner were served each day. There is a laundry area and a travel agent inside this hostel. The rooftop view of Quito in incredible. AND, hot showers!! The only negative thing about this hostel is that it can... More

First of all, it should be noted that Secret Garden makes a concerted effort to be a resource for any traveler who stays there, and they do a truly good job at it. Especially for those who take the time to volunteer at the hostel. The volunteer opportunity includes 100% free room and board, plus other discounts, perks, and invaluable... More

The views from the terrace is amazing and it's a pleasure waking up and watching the mountains. Unfortunately the selection of collaborators that work there is very random. The day of my checkout I waited 40min for a breakfast that never arrived. the guy was not able to understand spanish and I suspect neither english or simply he is inappropriate... More

The view from the rooftop terrace is really nice. But the price is too expensive for the quality of the rooms and the service. Breakfast is not included (3$ without upgrades). Beer are 3$ (double of the normal price around). It is a party hostel with no place to party around, so get ready to: - people going down drunk... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. The views are beautiful and a great reason to stay here. It is also kept clean and is very sociable, the hostel put on nights out where you pay $2 for a seat on the mini bus and a fish bowl cocktail to share with everyone is included. We went both... I've stayed at Secret Garden a couple times now and it is a nice hostel. You will definitely meet other travelers and there's a fun vibe. If you are staying in the dorm it's a good option ($10 per bed, no breakfast included). Everything is fairly clean, there's a book exchange, and the terrace is a nice place to hang... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Secret Garden Quito is a friendly Australian/Ecuadorian/French family run hostel conveniently located in a quiet, authentic cobble-stone street in central Quito. Our 'barrio', or neighbourhood, is one of the few remaining Colonial districts and even our building is protected by a United Nations World Heritage listing. With a big improvement in security in the Old Town in recent years, plus 24 hour police patrols, our neighbourhood now enjoys a level of safety and security equal to (or often better than!!) most international capital cities. But there's more!!Our beautifully restored colonial building features a rooftop terrace/restaurant/bar with breathtaking views of the historical Old Town. Feel free to browse our hostal book exchange, chat with our friendly Ecuadorian and foreign staff, check your email (free use of computer and free Wifi), or just relax listening to any of our wide selection of music. ... more   less
