Staff waited for us at the airport (we arrived in the middle of the night) and brought us very quickly. Very calm and peaceful hotel situated in a gated property. Had a clean triple room for the two of us, a bottle of water on arrival, and good breakfast the next morning. Would recommend for a sleep close to the airport!

I stayed at this inn for 3 months during my study abroad program and the owners and staff were so friendly and kind to us! They made us feel like we had a new family there and I would definitely go back. The hostel staff also always cleaned our rooms very thouroughly. The hostel is so cute, with a sunny yellow and white theme, lots of garden spaces and flowers, a pool, and a waterslide. It also has an open grassy back lawn, where they are able to host large events, and always decorate the hostel beautifully! As it is outside of Quito, the air is fresh and clean and there aren't city noises so it is very tranquil, so we almost always got a good nights sleep. There is also a beautiful view of Pichincha and Quito from the upstairs balcony from which you can watch the sunset over the city in the distance.

We had an excellent experience at Hostería San Carlos. My study abroad group was lodged here for 3 months. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice, cleaned thoroughly most days. The showers typically had warm water. The grounds are beautiful, with nice patios. There is a pool, hot tub, and waterslide. This hostel is also great for events - there were several gorgeous weddings and parties here during our time. The location is convenient if you need to go to the airport, but about 50 minutes from Quito. We would often take Ubers to get to Quito, but the hostel does have their own transportation services. The hotel is very well managed - Andrés, the owner, is very organized, professional, and kind.

We stayed at the hosteria when we first arrived on our way to the Amazon, and again when we traveled to the Pacific. The first room was smaller but comfortable, while the second room was in the main building and very nice. The host is gracious, with coffee, tea, and breakfast.

We stayed here twice just overnights. 1st time after arriving from the UK, 2nd time before departing Ecuador. The experiences couldn’t have been more different. We had quite a wait for the hotel pick up taxi which was frustrating, but once it arrived, a mere 10 minute transfer. On arrival the service & greeting was poor, maybe due to the language barrier. We were allocated rooms 3 & 4, upstairs & had to carry our own cases. Room 3 is way nicer in my opinion than room 4. Both rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable with decent bathrooms. We slept well. Breakfast sadly is very poor, and difficult to ask for any extras. Coffee, however is on tap 24 hrs a day. WiFi is excellent. For our second visit we were warmly welcomed and bags were carried for us. Again the room was very comfortable, but we left before breakfast so I can’t comment on that. I would definitely recommend this hotel for an airport stopover. The grounds are lovely as well for a stroll & full of birdlife. There is an outdoor pool, but we were too weary!

After 6 hours drive...we got there really tired to go find a restaurant so we ask and they told us for $10 per person they will have something for us and call us when ready. First, they took forever and when I went back to ask I saw someone walking in with containers so is obvious it was not prepare there. After a while they call us and the food was on plates but believe it or not, everything was cold and the meat hard as a rock. We told the receptionist to tell the manager and he didn't even say sorry. My little one said it was ok but didn't eat a thing, so you can tell he said that so the person don't feel bad. $40 waisted right there. At the room I was taking a shower and my son got in to use the toilet he flush and I burn my skin as the water got extremely hot. They are moving to a new place so I guess they don't care anymore about customers...

Our stay in the hostal was like a serie of problems: we started in the room on the first floor, but the light was not working (afterwards we read that this was already also for other guests - persistent problem?), we changed to a smaller, colder, smellier and basic room near the garden. Breakfast was poor (not enough jam for 2 small sandwiches), shower was cold without power. Next morning and day (sunday), brunch was going on on the terrain: powerfull music box next to our room and very noisy bouncy castle. The relaxing place we searched here, was far away. And unpleasant: visitors of the brunch just entered our room without knocking... The following night was full of rolling suitcases of tourists arriving late. Unfortunately, we also booked one night after our Amazon trip: no water during the evening and night and the owner didn't find the key of our room... We don't advice this place...

Well this is a relaxing location with beautiful views, I have to be honest that I was a little worried about water damage, possible mold. There was one ball on the outside of my room that looked like it had large amount of water damage. The floor is wood and had dark spots that also looked like possible water damage. I didn't seem to have any kind of reactions while being there. It is a little hard to tell because I seem to have allergies during my entire stay in Ecuador. I did consider staying here again on my way out of the country. I have a really bad Hotel and the left it. The location is very convenient if you are getting in late at night. It is incredibly close to the airport. The view is beautiful and you should be able to get a good night sleep without having the city noise. The winning qualities here are the view and the, way from the city. Other than that it is basic. No air conditioner no heating, no hot water. Aside from my concerns about possible mold the place did not seem unsanitary. There aren't really any Frills here, but there is free breakfast. If you want your room cleaned make sure to leave the key with the front desk. Breakfast was okay. It was the basic eggs, bread, juice. There is free Wi-Fi.

Do not do business with this hotel! We paid for a room - Sebastian responded and noted that we needed to pay an additional $20 for the room. Then several days later he canceled the reservation and did not refund the money. We have been in contact several times and he will still not refund the money. Do not let this crook take your money!

I used this hotel to provide a resting place between my return trip from the Galapagos and my departure back to the US. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The Hosteria was perfect for my needs. The taxi ride back and forth to the airport was $10 each way and took about 10 minutes. It was much better than sitting in airport chairs for 8 hours!
