Taxi from airport to the hotel is $10. Do not make taxi arrangement inside the airport at the window, it will cost you $14. To get a taxi outside airport or outside the hotel is not a problem whatsoever, but on Sunday there is no traffic outside the hotel, only three blocks farther. Of course staff will help you to get a taxi.
On my second day in Quito i asked for a taxi to Mitad del Mundo (must see!), and the lady at the front desk made an arrangement with a taxi driver who was her friend to drive me there at $10 an hour. It took us 6 hours to visit the volcano, two museums and the monument. Not sure that it was worth it, going by public transportation would take less time and money. Overall it was a very nice stay, and i absolutely loved Quito.

Positives:
-Good breakfast with lots of hot and cold options. I loved their yogurt, granola, juices and fruits.
-Great location. We got charged $27 from the airport to the hotel at ~10pm in the evening, and $26 for a 4:35am picked up from the hotel.
-Good staff, everyone is friendly and helpful. All of us speak Spanish, but we saw lots of other tourists and the staff helped them in English.
-2 desktops in the lobby
-Clean rooms, comfortable beds, good water pressure and lots of hot water
-my friend needed an iron, and someone came to his room and ironed his shirt
-quiet. We requested a quiet room (internal room)
-Safe
Neutral:
-no elevator
-pillows in Room #106 were hard.
Highly recommend, and If I travel to Quito again, I will stay here.
When the taxi pulled up to the hotel, the front doors were locked. When we rang the doorbell, a young man showed up and let us in. He quickly checked us in and carried our suitcases up to our room. Note that this hotel does not have an elevator. Having said that, the stairs are very comfortable.

While it's not a luxury hotel, it has everything for comfort. Our room overlooked the street leading to Plaza Santo Domingo. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom has a very powerful high-pressure shower, which was really nice.
They offer great breakfast on the top floor. It's the hotel's restaurant that in the mornings serves breakfast. The restaurant offers a stunning view of Plaza Santo Domingo.
Hotel Real Audiencia has a very central location. it is within close proximity of all Colonial Quito sites. It also offers a great advantage in that given the fact that on weekends many of the streets of Colonial Quito get pedestrianized, you can still always get to the hotel with ease in a taxi if coming from others parts of town (or going to other parts of Quito, for that matter), asking the taxi drivers to bring you to Plaza Santo Domingo.
The reception area workers were consistently helpful. They always provided directions and guidance. They would even share how much taxi rides should cost to specific places. It's highly recommended that you negotiate the taxi fee in advance of commencing the ride.
We left for Banos for a few days, and Hotel Real Audiencia safely stored our suitcases. We got them back during our return stay. On the first day of us being at the hotel, one of the employees noticed that my Mother looked tired, and she offered us coca tea. It did perk us up.
We were happy about this choice of hotel, and are glad to recommend it to others.
Minuses: hotel is drab and dated, shower stall was moldy smelling and water would flow towards the toilet area. Lumpy pillows.Area outside was deserted after dark with no life.
"If you are light sleeper I would ask for an inside room as mine was on the street and the traffic noise was noticeable."Read full review
