My fourth visit to Quito, yet the first stay in Old Town. HRA is nicely located within a 10-15 minute walk to either the Plaza de San Francisco or Presidential Palace. This section of Quito is beautiful at night. One will find a fine view of Santo Domingo Plaza from the hotel’s restaurant on top floor. In the absence of an elevator, guests staying on the upper floors (due to the city’s elevation) might need to catch their breath before reaching their rooms. The building, located at a corner, will have its quietest rooms on the sides of the hallway away from the street, yet neighborhood car alarms will likely be heard no matter where one’s room is located.

We had two nights in Quito so we wanted to be in the historic district, and this hotel is perfectly located. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. Breakfast on the top floor overlooking the plaza was delightful. But best of all, the service was great. The desk staff was eager to help us with all our questions. Through email I asked for a driver to pick 6 of us up at the airport around midnight. The hotel responded quickly with all specifics I needed, giving me a lot of confidence that our tired family would be well taken care of. The driver was excellent. We left very very early in the morning, and the hotel had a boxed breakfast all ready for us at the front desk. This hotel provided a wonderful start to our Ecuador trip.

If you plan to visit the Old Town Quito, this is the most convenient place to stay. Very helpful and friendly staff! Their restaurant serves good food, affordable and have a nice view of Sto Domingo Plaza. Attached is a photo taken by my husband.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Staff was friendly and helpful - as everywhere in Ecuador. My room was very clean with nice bed and most awkward pillows. The view from restaurant is magnificent; the breakfast, however, was very modest.
Taxi from airport to the hotel is $10. Do not make taxi arrangement inside the airport at the window, it will cost you $14. To get a taxi outside airport or outside the hotel is not a problem whatsoever, but on Sunday there is no traffic outside the hotel, only three blocks farther. Of course staff will help you to get a taxi.
On my second day in Quito i asked for a taxi to Mitad del Mundo (must see!), and the lady at the front desk made an arrangement with a taxi driver who was her friend to drive me there at $10 an hour. It took us 6 hours to visit the volcano, two museums and the monument. Not sure that it was worth it, going by public transportation would take less time and money. Overall it was a very nice stay, and i absolutely loved Quito.

We were 3 friends. I booked the single room (room #106 at $58) for 2 nights, another friend book 1 single room for 2 nights, and I booked one double room (a room in the 2nd floor, I don't remember the #; at $80.64) for 1 night. We did the booking online thru their website.

Positives:
-Good breakfast with lots of hot and cold options. I loved their yogurt, granola, juices and fruits.
-Great location. We got charged $27 from the airport to the hotel at ~10pm in the evening, and $26 for a 4:35am picked up from the hotel.
-Good staff, everyone is friendly and helpful. All of us speak Spanish, but we saw lots of other tourists and the staff helped them in English.
-2 desktops in the lobby
-Clean rooms, comfortable beds, good water pressure and lots of hot water
-my friend needed an iron, and someone came to his room and ironed his shirt
-quiet. We requested a quiet room (internal room)
-Safe

Neutral:
-no elevator
-pillows in Room #106 were hard.

Highly recommend, and If I travel to Quito again, I will stay here.

I spent two nights at the Hotel Real Audiencia in Quito. It is a hotel that shows its age a little, but it more than makes up for that with the attributes mentioned in the title. The location is very convenient for walking around many of the sites in the Old City, and the room prices are very reasonable, although you will save the most by booking online. The staff was welcoming and helpful, from the moment I entered the door for the first time until they called me a taxi to pick me up at 4:00 am the morning of my flight back to the U.S. As I was leaving so early and therefore was not able to eat the breakfast included in my room rate, they packed me a sack lunch to take along. This was completely unexpected and unsolicited, but very much appreciated. I found the climb up to the second floor tiring every day, so those with a bad heart or asthma will want a room on the lowest floor possible. This is an excellent hotel for those wishing to pay a reasonable rate for their hotel rooms.

I am a senior American lady who has just returned from Ecuador with two hotels that are excellent choices for Quito.Hotel San Francisco, and Hotel Real Audiencia, they are one block apart in the Historical Centro of Quito.Hotel San Francisco is ever so charming but Audiencia has such a wonderful breakfast buffet that it is the winner by a small margin. It will save a few $$ to book Audiencia thru hostelbookers.com.Both are in the range of $35 for a single room with bathroom and breakfast.

We stayed at Hotel Real Audiencia twice (both times in Room 302), and really enjoyed our stay. For our first stay, we arrived in Quito past midnight, so it was easily 2:00 am by the time we arrived at the hotel. I had previously informed the hotel of this very late arrival, and had a reservation that actually started the previous day. They had assured us that we would be able to check in without any problems.

When the taxi pulled up to the hotel, the front doors were locked. When we rang the doorbell, a young man showed up and let us in. He quickly checked us in and carried our suitcases up to our room. Note that this hotel does not have an elevator. Having said that, the stairs are very comfortable.
.
While it's not a luxury hotel, it has everything for comfort. Our room overlooked the street leading to Plaza Santo Domingo. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom has a very powerful high-pressure shower, which was really nice.

They offer great breakfast on the top floor. It's the hotel's restaurant that in the mornings serves breakfast. The restaurant offers a stunning view of Plaza Santo Domingo.

Hotel Real Audiencia has a very central location. it is within close proximity of all Colonial Quito sites. It also offers a great advantage in that given the fact that on weekends many of the streets of Colonial Quito get pedestrianized, you can still always get to the hotel with ease in a taxi if coming from others parts of town (or going to other parts of Quito, for that matter), asking the taxi drivers to bring you to Plaza Santo Domingo.

The reception area workers were consistently helpful. They always provided directions and guidance. They would even share how much taxi rides should cost to specific places. It's highly recommended that you negotiate the taxi fee in advance of commencing the ride.

We left for Banos for a few days, and Hotel Real Audiencia safely stored our suitcases. We got them back during our return stay. On the first day of us being at the hotel, one of the employees noticed that my Mother looked tired, and she offered us coca tea. It did perk us up.

We were happy about this choice of hotel, and are glad to recommend it to others.

Centrally located, easy to walk to the main sights in Quito’s historical centre. The staff were incredibly helpful providing us with directions, ordering taxis and even buying us coca tea bags when we were suffering from the altitude! We stayed a total of 5 nights on 2 separate occasions in 2 different rooms, the standard rooms was fine but the suite was fantastic! Bottles of water were provided on arrival which could be refilled using the filtered water from the machines. The rooftop restaurant was great with fabulous views over Plaza Santa Domingo and of the Virgin of Quito. We had a couple of early starts and the hotel was kind enough to provide us with a packed breakfast. Great value for money in such a central location.

plus: the location was central, arrangements for air port pick up great. Staff professional and polite, Break fast was adequate, Lovely view from restaurant.King bedroom was spacious with adequate shelf space.Did not hear any street noise before 6 am.
Minuses: hotel is drab and dated, shower stall was moldy smelling and water would flow towards the toilet area. Lumpy pillows.Area outside was deserted after dark with no life.
