Detailed Reviews
Stayed at this hotel for several days and it was a good decision. Well located in the north of Quito beside Parque
carolina, agreat place to have a stroll. Across the street from the Quicentre a high end shopping mall and only minutes from centro. Breakfast buffet was excellent and varied each day. Staff were valuable and could speak English enough to assist me in any of my queries. Nice hot tub and gym in the pentouse area. Would recommen and stay again. My only quip is the automatic tip fee to a stay.

Responded Mar 9, 2020
Dear MaritimeNortherner: Receive a cordial greeting from us. Thank you very much for your time and comment. Indeed, our location is privileged: in the financial, commercial and recreational center of the city. I'm glad you felt warm during your stay, cordiality is one of our strengths so that our clients feel at home. Facilities such as sauna, jacuzzi, gym, cafeteria .. how good you enjoyed them. Taxes are what is legally stipulated by the law in hotels that are 12% IVA and 10% service, additionally a $ 2 fee imposed by the Ministry of Tourism also legal as in any other hotel accommodation establishment in Ecuador. Always welcome, come back soon! Sincerely, CPlaza hotel

Highs:
Great welcome: Smiles and professional service from Odalys and Fausto at the airport.
Check in and check out: fast, efficient and friendly service from the front desk staff. Great service from housekeeping to bellman.
Location, location, location! Hotel is across from Quicentro Mall and Mi Comisariato which is the largest mall in Quito so it is very convenient. Also walking distance to the park, many restaurants and stores.
Room: Online rates from the hotel website for $81 got us a very spacious king suite with separate living area with leather couch and a bar with sink and ample counter surface. Library style working desk and amenities such as free wifi and fax machine for the business traveller.
In house restaurant and bar on penthouse with great views which makes it convenient for late night arrivals looking for food and drinks. Strange flourescent blue lighting on ceiling though.
Prompt and reliable airport shuttle service.
Lows:
Old building showing its age despite a remodeling effort that kept its historic spanish colonial interior charm with highly lacquered paneled walls.
Room suffers from poor lighting. Very dim.
Bed is not very comfortable (make that hard) with flat pillows.
Not recommended for travellers prone to allergies due to extensive wall to wall fabrics on drapes and valances and the ocassional waft of cigarette smoke from the casino.
Large mold growth on tile grout in jacuzzi although overall the bathroom was quite clean.
Poor sound privacy- you can hear all hallway noise and footsteps from room above.
Potential safety issue in bathroom as no safety grab bars to hang on to as you step out of the jacuzzi which is quite high.

Went to Ecuador recently to visit friends who had purchased a hotel in Vilcabamba. Flew into Quito via Lan Ecuador. I was pleasantly surprised by the great treatment in flight. Plaza in Quito was wonderful. Expensive for Ecuador but inexpensive in American standard. Suite with jacuzzi tub, 2 walk-in closets, desk leather sofa and chair 2 TVs, refrig, buffet breakfast for $81 per night(for 2). I found the country beautiful, the people friendly.
Flew to Loja and drove to a hotel in Vilcabamba "Tierra Madre" Stayed in a villa with terrace, breakfast & dinner included for $60 per night(for 2).No phone or TV in room, just relax, horseback ride, hike etc. Lots of local artisans selling inexpensive handmade jewelry.
I had heard it was a poor country and to be careful but I found the people to be helpful and friendly.

I travel on business (and always sneak in some pleasure) to Latin America 2 or 3 times a month. In the last 7 years I’ve been to various hotels in almost every country. When in Quito, I always stay at the Best Western Hotel Casino Plaza. It’s a great deal.
The location is really good as it is in the more modern part of town – nearer to banking, airport and etc. It’s really not in the colonial part of town. Although it is only about 10 or 15 minute cab / tour ride to that part of town. That’s good since the colonial part of town has a lot of traffic and isn’t great to be walking around in at night – daytime tour is very much recommended.
When I started traveling to Ecuador a few years ago, this hotel was part of the high-end Crowne Plaza chain - back then it was rated 4.5 or 5 stars and cost $130 a night. I think part of the reason it was rated 5 stars was because it has 100 rooms and they are all suites! So you get a main room for sleeping and then a separate little living room like area which has a pullout couch, another TV, desk and etc. Its great when traveling with kids or if you need more room to spread out business documents, presentation materials and etc. I’m not sure why they changed to Best Western or why it is now listed as a 3 star hotel, but who cares? It’s priced at 3 stars but with more like 4.5 star features.
No pool, and the exercise room isn’t great, but it is located across the street from a big, safe park for an early morning jog. The food is actually much better now then when it was a higher-end hotel. I think it’s a new chef. Anyway, be sure to try the Locro de Queso soup made of potatoes, cheese and avocados.
They have high speed internet service in the business center. And when I was there in March of 2005 they were in the process of rolling out high speed wireless to all rooms and even the lobby (I think). They’ve got a tourist agency in the lobby which is actually really competent and good at getting last minute plane ticket changes and other things done.
As far as entertainment goes, it has a real, almost Las Vegas like Casino. It isn’t one of those lame slot machine only casinos which seem to be all over Latin America. It has a good crowd and all the real table games - including baccarat. And the drinks are free if you’re gambling!

First things first: the hotel has a great location.
Near financial district, just across the street from Quicentro (the nicest Quito mall) and Parque de la Carolina (a big and beautiful park).
The rooms are big and comfortable enough, and the staff is kind of friendly and helpful.
The breakfast is "meh..." but not bad.
But there's a lot of drawbacks:
The style of the hotel is reeeeeally dated. A mix of rancid glamour, gold statues and religious imagery. Awful.
The wifi is TERRIBLE, probably the worst I've experienced on a hotel, ever. Forget Netflix, Youtube, HBO GO or downloading any email attachment over 3 megs.
But probably the worst part are the parties. Parties in a hotel? Yup.
The hotel has 3 o 4 ballrooms (that were on full steam during my stay) and the sound insulation is really poor, so get used to an amazing quantity of noise on weekends until 2 AM.
I hope never going back there.

This hotel is definitely not recommended for travelers wanting any peace and quiet. We are staying here in Quito for 5 days and after exploring during the day we just wanted a clean and quiet place to sleep. Rooms are fairly clean but apparently they book parties on the 7th floor at night. Called down to reception to see what was going on, and they recommended we be patient because the party only lasts until 2am. Booking activities was also difficult as no one at the reception was able to provide more information or costs of tours. We ended up just paying a taxi driver to take us around which was great, just expected more from the concierge. Definitely not worth $100 + per night, would have probably been better off in a hostel or home stay for a fraction of the price and equal or better service. Food is mediocre and relatively expensive as well, approx $15-20 per plate.

The Best Western Plaza, formerly the Crowne Plaza, was a very nice base to do touring around Quito with a family. The staff were all extremely nice nice and strove to help with anything we asked. Their restaurant recommendations were all excellent. My son had a birthday when we were there and, just from a casual conversation, the staff made a cake, brought it to our room and sang to him.
We had breakfast included in our rate (seemed standard) which was excellent. The penthouse restaurant couldn't have been more picturesque with views of the volcano Cotopaxi and the beautiful Andes mountains.
The cleaning staff were very good and, although they sometimes needed reminders of specific needs, they were very fast (1-2 minutes) when a request was made.
Right across from the hotel is a pretty big shopping mall that also has a large grocery store in it. So don't worry if you forget anything, because they'll have it there–most likely the brands that you use too!

This Hotel has a great location as Quicenter, a fine Mall plenty of shops and restaurants, is located across the street, while the beautiful Parque La Carolina is also located across the street, ideal for walking and exercising.
Hotel itself is ample and well lighted, rooms are ample and well equipped, even though perhaps a bit dated, but all functional. Free Wi fi works well and is fast
There is a gym on top floor, with nice views to the city and surrounding mountains.
Breakfast is good, not particularly varied, but there is fruits, cereals and hot meals plus a cooker ready to prepare eggs on your like.
Restaurant has a limited range of dishes and beverages.
Staff is very very friendly and ready to help.
All in all, an excellent option in Quito

I stayed at this hotel on business from 03/18/19 to 03/21/19 in room 205. Everything from check in to check out and everything in between was EXCELLENT. Very friendly staff, great breakfast buffet and very comfortable rooms. I will definitely recommend and stay here again. The only thing I would add to the room is another lamp in the desk area.
Thank you!
Thank you!

The hotel has very good facilities including restaurant, gym and rooms. The room had plenty of space with table to work, armchair and good bed. The wifi was very good. The gym had lot of machines but a little bit old. The breakfast was expensive taking into account the options available.
The price was very good taking into account the quality.
The location is perfect, in front of a huge park to practice sports and in front of a shopping center with many options for eating and buying.
The staff is very kind and profesional.
