We booked a couple nights at the Rio Amazonas Hotel in Quito before we headed out to our diving trip in the Galapagos and after before we returned. The first night we stayed at the hotel we got there very late at around 1am. The streets surrounding the hotel are full of nightlife so we had a little bit of...

The employees really worked hard to make my stay as pleasurable as possible. They were very nice and were willing to assit me with everything. Since it is located right beside the club/bar district, the music is very loud at night.

We stayed in 2 different rooms here, en route to Galapagos. They were both streetside (all rooms are) and definitely loud. The single glazed windows let in all the street noise, and on the weekends the disco music was something else. Towels were frayed and the room had a bit of mold in the bathroom.. but overall it was cheap...

After a mix up with the hotel our tour company originally booked for us, we stayed that the Rio Amazonas for one night while in Quito before transferring to our original hotel. It was a nice enough place. Larger hotel, so you tend to not get the personal service you do in smaller, boutique places. But the people at the...

Staff was very helpful arranging dinner reservations and taxis as well as providing guidance on where to find electrical adapters. Very noisy on lower floors- on our way back from the Galapagos we asked for a room on a higher floor- staff was most accomodating! Would stay there again!

The Rio Amazonas hotel is in an excelent location, a busy street, near "gringolandia" safe and fun and close to a very good travel agency to arrange day trips

Rio Amazonas' location seems to be ideal but be very careful in this neighborhood--its called 'gringo landia' and hence, its a major crime against tourists area. Rio Amazonas has not beefed up its security detail--we were robbed 1/2 block from the hotel while 4 of us were walking back from dinner 3 blocks away. It was a brazen attack of...

Great location in the heart of the Mariscal district, short cab ride away from Old Town. Basic hotel, but clean, great value, good service, and full breakfast (w/ freshly squeezed juices) included.
