When I go to a new city for the first time I generally chose a chain hotel to be certain that I will have no unwelcome surprises! But the Hilton Colon is a step above that, hence the five stars. It has spacious rooms, extremely well designed and furnished, plenty of closet space, with a large bathroom with individual toiletries (dying out nowadays1). We had a high floor looking out on the El Ejido park: superb view of the Gothic Cathedral and the city with its surrounding mountains. It has a large well-equipped gym, with some view, or you can do a few circuits of the park if you prefer. Location could not be better: steps from the metro, only 2 quick stops to Plaza San Francisco right in the center (at 45 cents). There are multiple fine restaurants within reasonable walking distance, and a night-life zone at Plaza Foch. Price is extremely reasonable.

This hotel is a hidden gem with excellent customer service from all of the staff. I really enjoyed staying here and the location is great. My first time in Quito so I was pleasantly surprised. It is literally across the street from a park, that kids will enjoy. Also it is 12 minutes walking distance from Plaza Foch (overrated) - Plaza Foch is good if you like bars / pubs; I may have been in the wrong section because it didn't match up to pictures that I'd seen in travel blogs. I ate in the hotel restaurant only once and the staff really paid attention to the small details. I went to the hotel bar once and ordered a canelazo; the bartender went to the kitchen for ingredients and made it special, great customer service. I also ordered room service once and the food was delicious. The concierge staff was great. I highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed at this Hilton Hotel recently as part of a group tour. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and attended to all our needs quickly. We needed a late check out as our flight wasn't departing until 3 am and for a reasonable $100 we were able to stay in our room until 11 pm. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom was well equipped. The coffee machine in our room was broken and they replaced it quickly. The hotel is a little 'tired' and we were dismayed that there wasn't a fine dining restaurant on site. They have a cafeteria / buffet style restaurant for breakfast which was well stocked. For dinner it was not a warm atmosphere and when busy it is very difficult to get served. The bar serves meals as well but it is very cold as it is beside the outdoor terrace and you need a heater beside your chair and a sweater/coat on cold evenings. "The concierge staff were wonderful and arranged for taxis when needed and made a restaurant reservation for us. Not a lot of atmosphere but rooms were very clean and quiet.

Hilton Honors Diamond benefits not honoured. Given the run around about why a suite upgrade was not available, and even after being promised a room change on the second to last night, when I checked back with the staff, they told me there were no clean rooms available (the website says otherwise).
Hassled when checking in about the number of guests in the room (3 guests in a two double bed room). Never had that experience at any other hotel before.
Hotel shows signs of aging - no amenities available in the room. Hardly what I would consider a "5-star hotel", more like 3. Snacks in the executive lounge were gross and were not protected from contamination. Saving factors were the location and executive lounge refrigerator, at which refreshments were available to take to the room.
Staff at the front desk had mixed English abilities (some not understanding any English outside of the most basic phrases, making communication difficult at this "international" hotel that caters to English speakers).
Upon checkout, billed double what was stated on my reservation. Now, additional work will be needed to fix this.

We stayed for a few nights pre Galapagos. Rooms were comfy and the concierge goes out of their way to ensure that you have an amazing time. Dinner recommendation was great.
Hotel was standard Hilton quality with comfy clean rooms, good wifi and a good breakfast.
Location was OK but not walking distance to a lot. Cabs were easy to arrange and the hop on hop off bus was easy from this location.
Would recommend staying here.

We stayed in the Hilton Colon Quito for 10 days in June-July 2023 and really, really liked the staff, especially the Cafe Colon and concierge employees. We looked forward to breakfast in the Cafe Colon every morning, and got great help with transportation from the concierge desk, including taxis, drivers for longer day trips, and even bike rentals (the weekly Cicleopaseo operates on the street next to the hotel). The room was spacious and clean. The gym had everything you’d need. The hotel location is relatively convenient to the old town (an $3-4 cab ride, about 10 minutes) and walking distance to good restaurants in the Mariscal. The staff was wonderful!

The hotel is located in a safe and central area from where you can walk to the old town, there is a nice park across the street and walkable to the trendy La Floresta area. My only concern was at breakfast time, I specifically asked for no meat in my eggs (they were cooking bacon & ham) I asked the cook twice to ensure it was no meat, and to rinse/wipe the pan before making egg which she didn't. I also explained to the server and the manager before she made it. Unfortunately the eggs had some ham stuck to the bottom and I could not eat it, it went to waste. Appropriate hygiene is important when cooking for customers and I don't think they realized it. Also, the concierge and front desk were impossible to get a hold of from the room. I had to try multiple times and it kept ringing busy or going to voicemail. They may have been busy but it happened at all hours - morning, afternoon, night and also with concierge service, I had to keep trying multiple times.

I stayed at the Quito Hilton Colon twice on a solo trip to Ecuador.
I’ve stayed at Hilton’s across the globe for a while now and I could never figure out why the experience was so bipolar. Sometimes it’s a gorgeous property but lukewarm customer service or vice versa.
Prior to writing this review, I kind of thought about why I almost never get both stellar facilities and exemplary service at any Hilton I’ve stayed at, and I think its because they’ve lost the hustle mentality of boutique properties who can’t fall back on a huge chain for survival.
The Hilton Colon is just fine, maybe a little expensive for what it is. I was there on Christmas Day and the staff really put in an effort to make the holiday feel exuberant. But the desk staff are a little wanting in terms of welcome. The concierges were very nice and the one housekeeper I ran into was very pleasant.
The public spaces in the property are kept up very nicely. The breakfast is Hilton quality, but I had dinner in the restaurant one night on the same night as they were hosting a large group and I felt sidelined. The non-breakfast food is also a little pedestrian.
In terms of the sleeping rooms, I received almost the same room when I reserved through the hotel and the other through a travel aggregator. I actually got a nicer room through the aggregator, though it’s probably because I have the top tier status with them. The rooms are serviceable, but definitely showing their age. Everything needs a little zhuzh.
They also have those key cards that get very easily demagnetized next to your phone, other credit cards, and coins. I stayed their for four nights and had to get my card recoded three times because you need it to access the elevator.
I don’t know if I’d stay at the Hilton Colon next time I come to Quito. I’ll probably look for a more recently renovated property at a better price point.

We checked in a bit later into the night but it was a quick process. Took us a few tries to find the right tower for our room with the assistance of the check-in staff. Our suite was wonderful! Two lovely beds and a pull out couch that accommodated our small group of three. Two tvs, lots of towels, and two separate bathrooms; one full with a shower & a tub and one with just a toilet and a sink. The bed, sheets, and pillows were fantastic; exactly what we needed after a day of traveling. I could have slept in that bed all day and ignored all the things I wanted to do, it was that great. We ordered room service and it came in a timely manner. Byron and his coworker wheeled it into our room and checked to make sure everything was there, they were wonderful. We had breakfast at Cafe Colon and the staff there was also incredible . Coffee was poured upon sitting down and the staff came around to ask if we wanted more, never pushy. I asked one gentlemen if the chef could make two fried eggs, out of curiosity, and to my surprise, he brought them over to me. Staff was incredible, room was incredible, and our experience as a whole was truly 5 stars. Thank you to everyone at the Hilton for a wonderful stay!

I’ve reserved my suite on July 9th for my trip to Ecuador on August 23rd , 2023 . I have been trying to make contact with the front desk to request an early check in prior to my trip , absolutely no answer hence the international charge ! Fast forward to August 21st, 2023 I received an email informing me that the hotel is at its high capacity and that my suite will be downgraded to another room which would be priced less per night given it’s a down grade . I immediately responded stating that with a matter like this I would most definitely appreciate if someone from management reached out to me via phone to better understand this mishap . I was called by a manager and she stated my room is no longer Available for that day which I’ve initially reserved for august 23rd , 2023.! I was in disbelief because what’s the use reserving when your room can be taken away from you and it isn’t guaranteed! I expressed my concerns and was told that there’s only one suite in the entire hotel that I’ve chosen and that I’d most definitely have to downgrade because of the group that’s staying in that room! Nonetheless, I’m highly disappointed in the way this was handled especially representing the Hilton brand. I’ve always stayed at the Hilton and this has never happened . Also , I have already paid for excursions that were scheduled to pick us up from the Hilton , what an inconvenience!! Nonetheless, I cancelled my stay and reserved a suite at JW Mariott !

The Hilton used to give free shuttle service to the OLD airport, but the new airport is now far away. We were just there. You can get a taxi from the airport (they are regulated) for 25 - 30 usd.
