We were at the Marriott in March 2020, at the beginning of the Covid pandemic. We planned to stay for two nights before a cruise. We checked in at around midnight - service was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. We spent the day sight-seeing, and bit by bit, more of the city was getting shut down by the government. When we arrived back at our hotel, we learned our cruise was cancelled. I was alone in the country with my 12 year old daughter. The cruise line was no help getting me hope at all, and the phone lines to my airline were jammed. The hotel staff was extremely patient and helpful, helped me arrange a car to the airline's nearby office, and booked me a car service to the airport. They did not charge me for my second night. Honestly, the several hours between learning the trip was cancelled and getting on the plane home was a bit of a blur. I wish I could remember the names of the people who helped me. But I do remember the staff going above and beyond to help us get home. They didn't have to refund my second night - but they did. They were compassionate and caring and that is what I remember, more than anything else. We plan to stay there again when we are able to take our cruise.…
My husband and I stayed here for six nights and found the hotel to be comfortable and clean - it was a good home base in Quito. The major downside of this hotel is its location; it's not really around any other places you would want to visit, so either taking a taxi or walking through an area that is pretty much abandoned at night is necessary. As a result, we ended up ordering in dinner a few nights, and got some major side-eye from the staff. Nonetheless, it was a pleasant stay.
We had a package with Celebrity Cruise Lines that included a two night stay pre-cruise and a one night post-cruise. We could not have been happier. This hotel is beautiful, the grounds lovely, very plush. The was no time to use the pool as it was either raining with hail & thunder or we were busy, but it looked so inviting. Our suite Rm 423 was well appointed. The bed was super comfy. We had dinner at the Hacienda Restaurant on-site. The service was impeccable; the food was excellent. The gift shop has lots of good souvenirs and the prices were really reasonable. There is also a little shopping mall. Roses are everywhere! The concierge was very helpful. He gave us the name of a local restaurant for lunch and we loved it. Our post cruise night was just as nice. We weren't there long as we had a 1:30am departure for a 5:30 flight. Keep in mind, Quito sits at 9,350' and can be a little bit of altitude adjustment. Keep hydrated and don't overdo till you know what your reaction will be to the high altitude. I would definitely stay here again. We felt very safe. The staff was ever so helpful.…
This very nice hotel, well located staff is very friendly and helpful always willing to help the facility is nice and clean great service. Good food I was part of a tour group and we all had a great experience. I highly recommend this hotel.
It's a swanky hotel with all of the amenities you could hope for and a staff tripping over themselves to help you, The price is lower than most Marriotts because Ecuador, on the whole, is a cheaper place to visit. Given that, the price is exorbitant by Ecuadorian standards. Here's what I liked. The beautiful breakfast view. The pool. The fresh juice options, smoothie options, whatever you can think of options at breakfast. The food. The service. The access to massages. The hotel itself is great and staff excellent. Here's what I didn't like: Location. There is nothing around there. You literally can NOT venture out on foot. You're stuck hailing a cab or uber, even just to get a quality coffee or some juices that don't cost $5, which is robbery in Ecuador. For the location alone, I wouldn't recommend it. They have all kinds of safety warnings telling you not to go out at night and especially on foot from the hotel - and they're right. There is literally NOTHING but a kia parking lot around there. I would say it's not worth it as a tourist - only if you're there for business, and someone else is footing the bill. The wasted plastic bottles. I was told you can't drink the tap water in Ecuador. So they provide you with endless free bottled water. While nice of them they provide it in small single sized bottles. I asked them to point me in the direction of a store because of this huge environmental issue so that I could buy large gallons of water and they couldn't because of the location. I would have to take a cab to get anywhere safe to buy water at a fair price. It was nuts and not ok. Plastic is terrible, Marriott, you should be doing WAY better than that. The beds were NOT comfortable. I had two queens and tried them both. For a swanky hotel, I hoped for way better. But it was a bad sleep both nights. The rich older travellers. It was clearly a stop over spot for those coming from or going to the galapagos. Mostly older couples with the desire to try to say "money" to everyone else. They were pretty rude and annoying and wore so much perfume it was gag worthy when eating. So that's the clientele you're dealing with. Keep it mind. Overall, I would say this should be saved as a business hotel and if you're a tourist who likes the finer things but also likes to get a feel for the actual city, stay at their sister location not too far away. It's better situated and more worth the price.…
