Casa del Alabado (museum with excellent gift shop) is nearby. A good plan is to visit the must-go museum then stop by Casa Gangotena for lunch and drinks afterward. The small bar is reminiscent of grand hotel bars in NYC (e.g., The Pierre) with outstanding service, top shelf selection of liquor and food. We started with a huge cup of... More

We stayed at the hotel due to the recommendation of our travel consultant. Very beautiful hotel centrally located in Quito's old city. Although construction on the Plaza San Francisco created some noise issues (you may want to request a room overlooking the courtyard in the back), all in all it was a totally enjoyable stay. Elegant finishes and superior and... More

Beautiful, elegant, stylish, outstanding, perfectly located, well managed, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Everything is spotless, almost incredible! Don't miss it, you will enjoy every minute of your stay. Breakfast and teatimes are lovely and the restaurant is at a very good level. A must.

We stayed here for three nights, it was absolutely beautiful! Very comfortable and the rooms are fantastic. The atrium was a wonderful place to have cocktails or just relax. The views from the third floor balcony at night are stunning. The fresh flowers are just beautiful. Every morning there is a great breakfast provided. Hands down, one of the nicest... More

This is the best hotel in Quito. 5 star, 5 diamond in the true Forbes/AAA sense of these loosely used terms these days. I manage multiple hotels in New York City and would advise any undecided traveler that can afford the rates to splurge and enjoy this spectacular hotel. Wagner, the concierge, arranged dining reservations throughout the city for us... More

Casa Gangotenga was a beautiful, well run classical hotel in the center of the old city. The staff was helpful and friendly and the lobby and our room were beautiful. They offer high tea in the afternoon and with many different teas and small bites to try. Breakfast likewise was excellent.

Fabulously renovated classic building. Your stay includes breakfast and afternoon tea.....we couldn't resist the latter. A well regarded restaurant, though what we ate was not fantastic, but could be just what we chose. As with everywhere in Ecuador, desserts are tooth achingly sweet! Beautiful rooms with lovely fruit plates provided. Huge bathroom. Lovely roof terrace gives views over historic centre.... More

The building is a wonderful historic home right on the plaza (although there is construction on the plaza to build a new metro). The hotel is beautiful and the staff are exceedingly welcoming and helpful. The lobby, lounge, patio, terrace, etc. are all gorgeous. The breakfast and high tea are included and both very delightful. The terrace has one of... More

Spent two nights at Casa Gangotena at the start of our vacation. Convenient location in the historic center of Quito. Large beautiful garden room, crazy comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, great garden and commons areas. Fantastic service, help with dinner reservations, extremely friendly in all areas. Great breakfast and bright airy breakfast room overlooking San Francisco Square. Perfect start to our... More

Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms, wonderful service, excellent meals - everything that you would expect from a Quality Hotel. However they are building a Metro and the works are in the Plaza in front of the hotel - interesting but not very picturesque. Also the road sweeper comes past the front of the hotel at 2 am most mornings which is... More
