While I almost never leave reviews, this stay definitely deserved one. The hotel's architecture and interior is strikingly beautiful and authentic so you feel transported back to Colonial times. It is very clean and location is perfect as it's right in the Historic District next to a major plaza. It is also an exceptional value. Casa Alquimia was not only my hotel, but Sylvia and Isaias were so welcoming and kind that it made it feel more like coming home each day- something very important when traveling solo. I always felt very safe and they were both so immensely thoughtful often going out of their way to help me. I can't imagine staying anywere else when I return to Ecuador and I'd recommend this place to everyone!

Casa Alquimia is an incredibly quaint & historic hotel. The building itself is more than three centuries old and is only a few steps from Plaza de Santo Domingo. The owners are incredibly attentive and friendly and Issac is as much of an amateur historian as I am, so even with my horrid Spanglish, we could always find something to talk about. As with any hotel near this location the noise at night can be annoying, so bring earplugs. It's not their fault it is a city and you are choosing to stay in the center of it. The hotel is close to many wonderful places to eat, Plaza Grande, Panecillo (take a taxi there), and one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in the Americas, Inglesia Compañía.

I spent 1 night here. I am puzzled by all the glowing reviews, as nothing that O experienced was worthy of that level of praise. The location is great, but that's really the only thing. My room had no means of climate control. No fan, no AC, and the only small window that opened, faced the atrium, which was basically indoors. As a result, my room was warm, stuffy and felt like a cave. All of the ceiling lights were bare light bulbs, dangling from a wire. The room was extremely noisy, as every sound from the rest of the hotel echoed. The breakfast was ok, but not special in any way. The wifi worked ok. I doubt that i would return.

My wife and I stayed at Casa Alquimia for a total of six nights in February 2020 (Feb. 8-12 & 17). Silvana and Oswaldo work so hard to make sure you are happy. They are wonderful people who truly care about your satisfaction. The hotel is very nice and we enjoyed our time there a great deal. The location within old Quito is magnificent.
