Detailed Reviews
Hotel is located 5 minutes of walk from the Quito´s main square. It is in a nice building with central inner area. Due to the fact that it is located close to the Center there is quite higher Level of noise from the street - mainly from the cars and their horns almost 24 hours a day. But it wasn´t so much bad as on the other streets and I could sleep during the night also in this conditions.
The room was a smaller size, but adequate for our needs - we mainly came there only for the rest and sleep. Room is equipped with comfortable bed, space for clothes, WC with shower, TV and we had a balcony (it is not in every room). The only reason why I get only 4* instead of 5* is the hot water issue. Sometimes it was really an "adventure" to catch the hot water for a longer time - it seemed to me as an random function of the water supply system to distribute properly the hot water... The room was clean and well kept.
Breakfast is served on the upper floor and it is a buffet style with good and wide options to chose from and get the right energy for starting a day. There is a nice view from the dining area to Panecillo hill and ist surroundings.
In the small relax Lobby you can have complimentary tea, coffee, buscuites 24 hours a day.
The transportation from/to the airport by a taxi cost 26 USD one way (the official price of taxi on the airport and took approximately 1 hour (the new airport is farer from the city).

Located in old town, walking distance to most of the major sites, many good restaurants and shops nearby too.
Nice old building inside, the lobby is like an open courtyard with a roof. If you have a room facing the lobby it can be much more quiet than one on the street the hotel fronts. The first night our room was very spacious, with two queen beds but even with thee windows closed was very noisy. Lots of car noise, horns etc till at least 1 a.m..then starting again around 4:30 am. We asked to be moved and got a much smaller but much quieter room on the lobby side. There are no outside windows in these rooms. Also the lobby can generate noise too, phone calls or loud guests coming in late. Still ,much better to have a smaller quiet room in my book.
Breakfast was ok with scrambled eggs, lunchmeat, cheese, lots of fresh fruit and fresh juice(delicious)
Word of advice,if you stay here,NEVER ASK THE FRONT DESK TO GET YOU A TAXI. We found out the hard way when there were 6 of us they ordered 2 taxis to go to the botanical gardens. The first cab charged $20 and the second $15. When we got a cab home on our own we payed between $2 and 3 dollars per taxi !! Seems the front desk worker walks out and strikes some deal with the drivers,we saw one driver hand some $ to the front desk guy. Also a few days earlier we were charged $10 to go to a closer destination,I am sure that should have been much less also. Not a huge deal $ wise, but I don't like being scammed!

Our first visit to Plaza Sucre was exquisite. The room was sumptuous, very comfortable, beautifully furnished. The hosts were very helpful. The buffet breakfast was more than we expected - a huge variety of baked goods, fruit, yogurt, all good.

Pro - good location, in walking distance to important site in the historical center, nice decoration, room is spacious, Beds are good.
Con - Beware of your belongings. Things are stolen from locked bags in the room, Thin walls, Noisy, Bad Plumbing, Water from shower is either very hot or very cold.
We have read about thief issue occurred in this hotel; therefore, we requested a room with video camera showing the door of the room. We were given room 210 located at the front side of the hotel which was very noisy from street; there was no hot water in that room, and the room was very cold. There is no heater in this hotel. Therefore, we requested a different room; the employee gave us room 203 which has no video camera viewing the door. We kept our money and passports with us all the time. The night before we checked out, we packed and locked our bags with TSA locks. Then we left our locked bags in the room and went for a walk in the morning before coming back to check out at noon. Our flight leaving Quito was not until midnight; therefore, we left our bags in the hotel's storage after checking out and went for more sight seeing. When we came home and unpacked, we found that a quite new, women-surf, Roxy brand jacket was taken from our locked bag. Also a pink digital camera that we packed in another small bag inside another locked bag was stolen too.
We emailed the hotel manager right away but receive no response.
If you plan to stay at this hotel, please lock your bags with strong locks. They take everything they can get their hands on. Other people have lost their money put in the safe. I just do not want to believe that they would steal a jacket. Check your belongings before you leave the hotel. Check everything.

Most rooms appear not to have outside balconies/windows, instead windows look onto a balcony above the inner courtyard. Good size rooms, high pressure hot shower, buffet breakfast on the top floor with nice view, reception staff helpful and the hotel is in a quiet street within walking distance of several restaurants, many bars/small cafes and most of the Old Town sites. Couldn't fault it - we stayed 4 nights and visited most of the churches, museums, galleries in the area.

We booked Hotel Boutique Plaza Sucre through booking.com for almost a week this past Christmas and New Year's holidays.
The voucher I received and printed said especifically we had booked a room with balcony, when getting there we didn't have that and they claimed the balcony is optional and you can have that only when the hotel has rooms with balcony available, totally not what my reservation said. Of course the hotel was fully booked and we weren't able to exchange rooms. Other than that, we probably got the smallest and worst room of all, right next to the stairs that lead to the breakfast room. The 2 days we didn't have to wake up so early to go on tours we were woken up around 6am with the noises from the kitchen and after that guests going up and down for breakfast, chattings and so on, so you're not allowed to sleep till late if you want.
I do not reccomend this hotel. Still, if you wish to stay there, just pray not to be booked on noisy and tiny room 301, and don't expect balcony even if you're suposed to.

On the surface this hotel is quite nice, clean rooms, good location, nice breakfast room on the upper terrace. Unfortunately the security is terrible, we checked in to room 214 which is one of the only rooms not covered by security cameras went to dinner, the next morning discovered $100 note missing from a wallet locked in the room safe. We were booked on a all day tour, we thought the money must have been in another wallet as other cash was still there, never suspecting theft. On return we discovered that a £20 note was missing and we suspect other cash from a second purse, this left us in no doubt that a theft had occurred on two occasions from the room safe. The management didn't think it was a serious enough event to see us on a Sunday and when we did see them on Monday we were told the money would be replaced as they were aware of other safe keys being about. When it came to replacing the money after a very long discussion we were only replaced the £20. By replacing any money they were admitting they know it has happened before and admit they have a problem. It resulted in our last night staying in a different room that was covered by security cameras but still not feeling comfortable to leave the room as we didn't feel our belongings were safe. The managements dealings were quite dismissive, we never talked to the main person only a assistant who was pleasant but had no authority. A truly unpleasant experience.

Did I say horrible enough? After traveling 36 hours straight from another South American country, I arrived at the Boutique Hotel Plaza Sucre at 1 AM only to be told there were no rooms available! I was being “walked!” They told me there was a plumbing problem affecting rooms on the 3rd floor. I found out later what the real reason was. They did call a Hostel down the street for me. It was a crappy alternative, but I had no choice. Another person was “walked” with me too, but at another Hostel that I was told was worse than mine. They just didn’t seem to care. And there were no repercussions to them “walking” me or others (which I later found out they do quite often). They basically say sorry and hit the road. In the USA, the hotel would pay for the first night someplace else, and provide meals and/or program points. But the Boutique Hotel Plaza Sucre, they say sorry and point to the door to leave. Bad attitude! And this bad attitude is noted on other reviews too.
I refused to leave until they let me use their Wi-Fi to find another hotel, and have breakfast. Breakfast is on the 4th floor, and I pass thru on the 3rd floor and see no maintenance distress that they speak of. In fact, the maintenance guy is painting in the 1st floor lobby. If the hotel is in such maintenance crisis, do you do routine maintenance in the lobby during this period?
At breakfast, I find out a shocking fact! They have a bigger than expected group coming in shortly and they need more rooms and are walking other guests because of that. Can you believe that?
I call my hotel web site booking site and complain, and they actually give me a nearly $200 credit because of the situation. FINAL WORD – DON’T STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

After traveling for nearly 5 hours via road, when my family (including elderly parents and children booked in prepaid rooms through travel sites) wanted to check in around 10 PM, they refused to open the main gate stating that they dont have rooms. The confirmation proof we had didn't make a difference. After our driver-guide expressed scorn at their behavior, they did open the gate, but didnt make any effort to solve the problem. No access was provided to the manager.
When I asked for rooms in other comparable hotels, they wanted me to check in a Huasi Continental, next door. Since it appeared to be a few notches lower than them online in both pricing and star-level, I asked to see the hotel first. When we walked there, it was a dump, and I wasn't going to put my family through that.
I asked to put in a hotel of similar star level, some of which were on the same travel website, at the same price level. The guy said he doesn't have authority to spend money on those. Only when our guide told the hotel that he is taking us to another boutique hotel, and will deal with them thorough the tourist board, did they relent in getting us a room in a comparable property.
It was a poor way to end our travel to generally a wonderful country with great people.
If you make an online reservation, don't count on it here though. They might sell your room to a higher bidder (after all hotels pay 30-40% commissions to travel sites).
Stay away from this one! There are several others of similar quality in the general area in Quito, that are hungrier for your business because they can't count on Tripadvisor ratings to channel customers to them.
