We stayed at the B&B Carino Porteno in November 2015. It exceeded our expectations! The price was great, the owner was kind and the views from our room were incredible! The only thing we should have done differently was the arrival -- we walked from the bus station. While a 1 hour city walk usually isn't a big deal, Valparaiso... More

Valparaiso is historic, picturesque, bohemian, but also rough around the edges. Viña is middle class, safer, and some would say dull, especially out of the summer season. Want to split the difference, visit both without committing fully to either? This is your ideal place to stay. If you arrive by bus and are traveling relatively light, choose to arrive to... More

This is an outstanding B&B, super charming, comfortable, clean, quite, good transport links, delicious breakfast, strategically located in between Valparaiso and Vina del Mar, with a great view of the Pacific ocean and a few steps to the sandy beach. I had a solo stay for a week and couldn't have chose a better place. Lady Veronica, who runs the... More

We stayed at Carino Porteno at the end of our trip in November 2012. We found it to be a lovely B&B with great breakfasts. It was also in a quiet part of town, which we enjoyed. The highlight, however, was our hostess. Although we spoke very little Spanish, and she spoke very little English, she was able to help... More

We stayed at this B and B over the extremely busy new year period as we couldn't get a reasonably priced room near the centre. We had a lovely time there. The owner is extremely friendly, great breakfast and she gave us a metro card so we could get into valparaiso easily. The rooms were comfortable, and everything was clean.... More

Veronica, the owner, is very sweet and takes an interest in making the guests comfortable. We felt very welcome and our children enjoyed the special items set out for them at breakfast. There seems to be quite a bit of street noise in the front rooms, but the back rooms are nice and quiet. Very comfortable beds.

We stayed a couple nights in May. We were initially taken by the colorful house and then delighted by the beautiful views of the pacific from our balcony. The house is just that a house but laid out to feel like a small inn. Super comfortble bed, everything felt new and nicely done. Amazing value for what you get. Veronica... More

My friend and I stayed here twice on our vacation to Chile including last night. Veronica's house is beautiful and she was very nice and helpful. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location is fantastic as I was able to walk to the beach and catch the sunset. The breakfast is great and the... More

WE stayed here for 2 nights in May.The location is great as it is only a short walk down to restaurants and the train station. The room was a bit on the small size and although Veronica spoke no English and likewise us no Spanish we managed to get by.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This is our home. It was built in 1956 by my father and I have lived here since those years, raised my daughters and over time, tended close ties with this quiet residential environment, in the best sector of Placeres Hill. A space built up with all the affection of the world, we want to share it with you while visiting Valparaiso and its environs. Quite simply, a home away from home. Welcome.he house is located in Rosa Riquelme Street, Placeres hill. This is a neighborhood located between Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, just 5 minutes driving to either cities. It has plenty of access to a range of public transport accesses such as bus, taxi, and train. Moreover, we are located just three blocks from Santa Maria University and the INACAP institute. In walking distance from our home our guests have a wide range of gastronomic possibilities. The centenary restaurant El Parrón (meat) and Portofino, Doña Tatito, Los Compadres y Caleta Portales all provide excellent sea food. There are other popular options near the beach like the Fisher’s man restaurant. Also, located close to our house is the Paseo Weelwright, a nice two kilometers pedestrian walk that connects with the Muelle Barón and offers beautiful views of the hills and the coast. ... more   less
