Luciano K is a boutique hotel with 38 bedrooms, a blend of period and art deco design. On the hotel's ground floor you will find the entrance hall, bar and restaurant. A roof top terrace of 300 square meters acommodates: the spa, sauna, bar, heated swimming pool; and, spectacular views over Parque Forestal and Alameda Avenue. The building is a cultural jewel in the heart of the gastronomic Lastarria neighbourhood of Santiago, originally designed by the arquitect Luciano Kulczewski in the 1920s. At the time, it was the tallest building in Chile, the first with a lift and central heating. The glamour and elegance of the 1920s is showcased in the architecture and design, accompanied by the highest levels of comfort and technology you will find at the best international hotels.

Great hotel. Arrived on an early flight and they kindly allowed us to use the bathroom to change before storing our luggage safely for the day! Gentleman on the front desk super helpful and chatted about safe areas nearby. Always someone on hand to open door etc after hours. We realised that graffiti is the art of Santiago, and the hotel was within walking distance to most tourist areas. We taxi’d to the Sky Costenera but otherwise Bella vista/Lastarria (great eating options) and main square felt walkable. Room clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast a good addition, eggs to order along with continental style options as a buffet. Sadly the weather was rainy whilst we were there and didn’t get to experience the roof terrace which in the sun I imagine would be great!!

I booked a 3-day stay from the 26th to the 29th. Since my flight would be landing @6:30 am and the check-in at the hotel is @3:00 pm, I called 4 days before my arrival to ask for an early check-in. The clerk said: “No problem, just show up at the front desk and we will assign your room”. The they I arrived at the hotel (7:00 am), the hotel had the doors closed so I had to ring a bell. A few minutes later, there’s this guy opening the door without saying a word. I entered the facility and followed him through a narrow aisle to where he has labeling luggage from 5 guests who came skiing (10-12 pieces). I looked at a window that meant to be the front-desk and tried to approach it but the narrow aisle, packed of ski gear and the speechless guy blocking the way, made me tell him I had a reservation and I needed to talk to the person in charge. He gave me this look and asked “Today? At 3:00 pm?” and I replied “Yes, today but NOT at 3:00 pm. Now!” Without making eye contact, the guy mumbled “check-in is at 3:00 pm”. I then explained I had called and the person answering the phone said I could arrive early and get my room without a problem. He then repeated “it wasn’t I who told you that. I cannot asume responsibility for what other person might have told you”. By that time, I was absolutely pissed off. I replied it is the hotel’s responsibility to honor whatever they promise. The guy just looked at me with a poker face. Tried to relax and think what could I do on a saturday 7:00 am in downtown Santiago, since I could not even take a shower after an +8-hour redeye flight. I asked the guy to keep my luggage and to please direct me to the closest café, as he denied me the hotel’ restaurant service under the argument that officially, I was NOT yet a guest. The guy then directed me to a horrible area of the city (all the surroundings of the hotel are old, dirty and dangerous) where after walking 1.5 miles there was not a single cafeteria (or any business at all) open. Needless to say, temperature was around the 32F-zeroC. The experience was terrible. At that point, I decided to seek for another hotel in a better neighborhood. I totally lost my money as the fares at this crappy Luciano K are non-refundable.

I prefer local hotels over chain hotels even while travelling for business to get a local flavour. Pro: Property is well located within walking distance of tourist attractions and bus stops. Rooms are clean. Housekeeping staff is terrific. Though road facing, it was quiet. Brian from the front desk was completely awesome and made us feel welcome. He was friendly, polite and extremely helpful throughout considering we were foreigners. Even took us to the shop next door to buy a sim card since we faced language difficulty. Breakfast was a decent spread. Eggs were made to order. Hotel booked tours for my wife when I was in a conference. Cons: The days Brian wasn't there, the front desk was an unpleasant experience to deal with. Another Asian couple had the same bad experience with her. Maybe bit of hospitality training required. We stayed 7 days but were not provided a complimentary late check out (we had a later flight). We were told it would be half day price. This despite we checked in a day after we were supposed to (which we paid for) due to flight cancellation issues. Rooms are not small but since I came for a long stay along with business it seemed small at times when large suitcases were opened. Breakfast could have more chicken options since we didn't have ham or beef. Tip: (1) The airport transfer recommended by hotel is convenient but quite expensive. Try an Uber or maybe regular taxi. (2) Ask for Bip card from front desk.

This is a lovely art deco style hotel. Security is good, like most places in santiago now you have to ring for the door to be opened. Very nicely located for the vibrant Lastarria district, and the main Plaza de Armas is within walking distance. Rooms are a good size and nicely appointed with plenty of storage space and a wall safe. Staff were really friendly and super helpful. We arrived early in the morning having come in on an overnight flight. They very kindly made a room available so we could shower, have a nap and drop our luggage, at no extra charge, which was amazing - maybe we were lucky so don't bank on that, but it says a lot about the staff and how they run the place. It has an extensive roof top bar, unfortunately it was too cold to be open when we were there but in good weather has to be great. We would definitely use this hotel again based on location service and price. It is not a Ritz-Carlton with a massive lobby and lots of staff, but a great unique place with a history. If I had one criticism, the rooms are dark because the window opens into a central light well, just the way the hotel was built and as there is a busy road outside probably an advantage, we slept very well.

Not only is this a beautiful boutique hotel, the staff is amazing! I usually stay in hostel’s when I travel abroad, but I’d had enough. If you’re traveling solo, you never feel alone here. Everyone went above and beyond to make my stay pleasant. The entire staff is amazing and the concierge is attentive, the restaurant staff and housekeeping, great. The area is in walking distance to restaurants, shopping, activities, and public transportation. I highly recommend!

Stunning art deco boutique hotel in a former tenement building. So excellently stylised, as well as being comfortable and providing all modern necessities. Hats off to whoever made this what it is today. In addition staff were excellent. Charming people. Receptionist calm and friendly. Breakfast team were very attentive and the housekeeping staff did a fantastic job of giving you that fresh room feeling after a day out in the city. Highly recommend.

We loved this hotel and hated to leave. It is an architectual art deco gem with an interesting history. When possible we like to stay in boutique historic hotels and this certainly fit the bill. Unfortunately the surrounding neighborhood is marred by ugly graffiti, but don't be put off by that. All is forgotten when you enter the building. You enter your floor via the antique manually gated ironwork elevator. (Although we found out later there is a moden elevator down the hall.) Our suite was impressive with seperate desk, sitting, and sleeping areas. The bathroom was bigger than our entire NYC studio apartment - with a walk-in shower and large soaking tub. The tub had a window view to the park across the street. Tastefully and appropriately furnished. The rooftop bar is to die for and we spent every evening there. We did not use the pool. We had the best negronis this side of Milan! You can also order bar food. Breakfast is included and ample. Staff friendly and very helpful. The only complaint we have - and this may not reflect the hotel - was the 2 tours we asked the hotel to book. They were expensive and underwhelming and only accepted cash - so one of the tours we had to carry the equivlent of $350 . We do not recommend a city tour since this hotel is in walking distance of the museums, Mercado Central, Plaza de Armas, and San Cristobal Hill - just review a map before venturing out. The 1/2 city tour we took the guide drove us around the new part of the city and took us to a koi pond to feed fish - this was the equivlent of almost $180. Stay here if you like to avoid the cookie cutter American chains! We will return here if we get back to Santiago!

If you’re looking for a hotel in Santiago with some old fashioned charm, this is the place! I cannot say enough positive things about this boutique hotel. We were greeted by Ignacia upon checking who was so helpful at the front desk. She spoke very good English and assisted us with our bike tour, restaurants, bus/subway/Uber and anything we needed. Absolutely a gem to deal with, was a great help as she spoke perfect English. The roof top pool was small, but refreshing. The roof top patio opens at 4:00pm and was so nice to relax at after a long day. This boutique hotel is in a great location, has a really cool old elevator and is reasonably priced for such a great location. Check out smooth with Adolfo and Xiomara. Can’t say enough about the staff, but Ignacio was AAA making the stay like a 5-star getaway!

The staff here were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Sort of art deco decor with the first lift / elevator in Santiago installed. Good sizes rooms, everything you need, great WiFi too and a TV. Quiet room, even facing main road. Great air con. Nothing to fault this place, highly recommended.

My husband and I enjoyed our week stay with Luciano K. The staff was welcoming and patient with our requests (arranging taxi rides, holding our luggage while we traveled, areas to explore and avoid). The hotel itself was pretty cool (first elevator used in Santiago?) and the rooftop view was great. We do note - the pool is a bit small. Our room was standard size but it was perfect for us as we were out and about most of our trip. The location is probably the best feature as it's in Lasterria, and walking distance from Bellavista, Santa Lucia, Plaza de Armas. We visit again!
