Call it Ismael 312. Some years ago — never mind how long precisely — having little in the way of design hotels, and nothing particular to interest the restless global nomad, the insular city of Santiago quietly took to the construction of a new crop of contemporary boutique hotels. Among the first fruits of this new wave of hotel construction is Ismael 312, a nine-story contemporary boutique hotel in an easy-on-the-eye modern minimalist style, just off the Parque Forestal in Santiago’s historic city center. Semi-transparent glass-walled bathrooms, flat-screen televisions, full-length windows — it’s clear Ismael 312’s proprietors have been paying attention to the interior-design conventions of the boutique-hotel world. This clean-lined look has quickly become the global standard, instantly rendering a million flowery bedspreads obsolete. Here, if you’re fortunate, you’ve got a view of the park from a private balcony; if not, you can content yourself with the pared-down simplicity of your room’s contemporary design. Don’t expect five-star extravagance — Ismael 312 is little more than a pied-a-terre. In this neighborhood, though, that’s more than enough — you’re surrounded by restaurants and picturesque old streets, not to mention the park with its selection of museums, perfectly placed to circumambulate the city of a dreamy Sabbath afternoon.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

Nestled in a prime location, Hotel Ismael has been lauded by guests for its proximity to various attractions and its status as a budget-friendly haven. Travelers extol the virtues of the hotel's service, particularly noting Diego's exceptional care. While the amenities, including the breakfast and cleanliness of rooms, receive positive marks, some suggest the pool could use enhancement.
Despite occasional noise complaints, the hotel's atmosphere is described as cozy and welcoming, with modern decor. However, reviews indicate that room sizes and maintenance may require attention.

Nice hotel in a good central location, the Plaza de Armas is only a few minutes walk away. Easy access to the metro, Bellas Artes station is just a few meters away. Our room was small but had everything you need. For 3 nights still OK. Unfortunately, the hotel has no bar but only breakfast (which could be even better quality), drinks and snacks can be ordered through the room service. The rooms to the park could be better insulated, as there is also sometimes a party at night with music. Very friendly and helpful staff at reception!

My husband and I recently stayed at the funky boutique Hotel Ismael and could not have been happier with our choice. We had a lovely comfortable room facing the Parque Forestal, which included a very good breakfast. The hotel is in a great location with an easy stroll to lovely cafes, restaurants and the main attractions. Our stay was made extra special because of the fabulous staff. Specifically I want to thank Daniela and Sergio who went out of their way to accommodate a later than usual check out and whose help and care went above and beyond expectations. Highly recommend!

Ismael 312 is an oasis in Santiago. The location in Barrio Lastarria is great for exploring some of the more popular tourist spots of the city, and for venturing out to enjoy local bars, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. Ask for a room facing Parque Forestal for nice views. The rooms are good size, comfortable and well appointed. The overall design is simple and reflective of the location. The entrance and sitting areas are inviting, and breakfast is varied and full of fresh foods and fruits. You can ask for a machine coffee as well. The staff are exceptional. We had a minor issue on our first stay here, and the staff worked to resolve it quickly and efficiently. Diego is a real asset to Ismael, and he went above and beyond making us feel at home and ensuring that our stay was comfortable, and that we had access to everything we needed (and wanted).

I booked a Superior room for 4 nights, 9 months ago, which was described as having park views, balcony and amenities such as robe. When we arrived we were allocated a room on the second floor, overlooking the park, but no balcony, no robe. To cut a very long story short, after 4 attempts to discuss reasonably with reception, and them simply repeating that there were no Superior rooms on higher floors with balconies available, we were offered the regular room rate and a balcony room overlooking the busy street on the top floor. If we had been offered this at the beginning we may have stayed, but the attitude was terrible from the beginning - really "it's just too bad" and blamed the reservations team. So, we moved after one night to another hotel around the corner for less than the discounted rate - I'll rate it separately. That debacle aside - pros of this hotel are its location, and smaller size. Shower (not bathroom) is large, and the room was spotlessly clean. Espresso coffees available at breakfast. Cons - the pool area is tiny, poorly maintained and water is barely waist high. Breakfast was okay, but amenities like the sandwich press were barely warm. I waited 10 minutes to toast a sandwich and it was barely heated through. In short, don't set your expectations too high, and for the price, you can definitely do better.

The service is amazing, the workers are very friendly. The breakfast is very good, varied and healthy, of good quality and at all times they are aware of your comfort. On the subject of cleanliness it is good, as the other workers are very friendly and are aware of the cleaning day by day.

We had a nice stay the the Hotel Ismael. It is in a great location next to a park and walking distance to a lot of tourist sites in the city. The breakfast is good, although they served pretty much the same thing every day with a few small variations. The best part of the hotel was the front desk staff especially Daniella and Diego. They were both so helpful. Daniella helped us check in a little early which was fantastic after an overnight flight. She also gave us a map and directions and advice on how to best see some of the local attractions. Diego helped us book an afternoon wine tour that we really enjoyed. He also remembered our names every time we came back into the hotel which we thought was impressive considering we didn’t stay that many nights. One thing we didn’t like was that the cell phone service and wifi did not work very well in our room. Im not sure if it would be like that in every room or just because of where our room was located within the hotel. The other thing that kinda bothered us was a slight sewage smell that would sometimes come from our bathroom. We weren’t in our room much other than to sleep so it didn’t bother us enough to complain or switch rooms but we felt it should be noted. Overall it was a really good budget friendly hotel in a great location where we felt safe. (For reference we are two Americans in our 30s)

An absolute gem of a hotel, nestled right in the heart of Santiago (Barrio Lastarria). A perfect location within the city; making walking to all major sites and attractions safe and simple. All major sites were within a 15 minute walk.
From the moment we arrived, Marcello and his colleagues at the front desk were more than courteous in assisting us to our room. They clearly explained all of the great amenities the hotel had to offer, and were more than helpful in reviewing my planned walking itineraries to ensure we were staying within the safer areas of the city. They also provided excellent nearby food recommendations.
Speaking of food, the included breakfast was by far, the most elaborate spread I have ever seen at any hotel. This feeling was shared by all guests we spoke with while dining. They had a wide assortment of fresh local fruit, amazing and unique fresh juices (raspberry, mango, orange and pineapple), made to order specialty coffees and teas, prepared by their wonderful Barista, Ivan, along with made to order egg dishes. They also had a variety of fresh bread and pastries, with many wonderful cheeses and spreads, fresh roasted veggies, tomatoes, and more! Honestly, this far exceeded all expectations.
The service in the restaurant, managed by Noemi and staff was again spectacular. All wait staff were more than polite and attentive, and made the start of our days extra special.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to have a short, or long stay within Santiago, Chile, and I will definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location, we didn’t need to use a taxi except for getting to and from the Airport. Hotel arranged hotel pick ups and they where on time and professional. The room was a little small but workable. Large desk which was nice. Bedding was good and clean, room cleaning was good. WiFi was abit of a problem as we work when we traveling and do lots of downloading but we found downstairs had a large table work area and the WiFi there was very good. The breakfast I thought was fine, they did tend to not refill when all taken but easy to find other things to eat. Staff very happy to make a fresh coffee from the machine and fresh pots of tea available. Nice touches: in the breakfast area they have a water refill station that you can use even when they are not serving breakfast. Coffee and cake served in the afternoon….left on the side by the business work area. Would stay here again

Thank you for sharing your review of Hotel Ismael, WanakaWitch! We appreciate your feedback. It's great to hear that the location was fantastic and convenient, with airport pick-ups arranged by the hotel. We apologize for the small size of the room but glad that it was workable, with a nice large desk. We also appreciate your comments about the good bedding, clean room, and good room cleaning service. We understand that the WiFi was a bit of a problem, but it's great that you found a solution by using the WiFi downstairs in the work area. We spent four nights at Hotel Ismael and had a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly, the room was quiet, and the included breakfast was delicious. They also offer a simple but tasty dinner option for purchase. The location is unbeatable—right across from a large park, just two blocks from great restaurants and bars, and a 10-minute walk to the Municipal Theatre and Plaza de Armas. Highly recommended!

I can’t begin to say enough good things about Hotel Ismael. The main elements that are important for travelers are location, quality of the property itself, value for money and guest experience based on staff interaction.
This hotel exceeds in literally every one of these categories. Not only is it conveniently located for touring the city, with excellent restaurants just a short walk away (see my two reviews other of restaurants just minutes away), but also right across the street from a beautiful park.
The property is meticulously clean, well maintained and has great ambiance, with comfortable and well-appointed rooms. There is definite artistic flair to the lobby area, which is welcoming, open and beautifully decorated in a very artistic way.
With the breakfast included option you get lovely breakfast with a high quality, delicious assortment and very attentive staff.
All of the above combine to make this an excellent value in this boutique hotel category.
But wait……there’s more.
What truly sets Ismael apart, the final crowning piece, is the absolutely superlative staff. I can’t say enough good things about the entire staff at this property. Literally every person, every encounter, made us feel valued as guests. They are engaged and attentive, but in ways that make you feel like you’re staying with a dear friend and not just at a hotel. While all the staff were top-notch, I want to make special mention of Diego at the front desk, who is truly amazing. To say we felt absolutely cared for would be an understatement.
Highly recommended. So much so we ended up staying here twice, and this would be our first choice for any return to Santiago.

I cannot help with the first question. Although if staying in Santiago I would have thought the Hotel Ismael would be as safe as anywhere.
I think the best way to travel from the airport to the hotel is by taxi – I understand it costs about £23 sterling. I travelled by public bus. It took about 45 minutes to the bus station and then I had to cross Santiago by underground train. My journey was cheap but a bit of a schlep.
I cannot say whether local restaurants are open. Perhaps the hotel can advise.
The hotel serves excellent breakfasts.
Best wishes
