Call it Ismael 312. Some years ago — never mind how long precisely — having little in the way of design hotels, and nothing particular to interest the restless global nomad, the insular city of Santiago quietly took to the construction of a new crop of contemporary boutique hotels. Among the first fruits of this new wave of hotel construction is Ismael 312, a nine-story contemporary boutique hotel in an easy-on-the-eye modern minimalist style, just off the Parque Forestal in Santiago’s historic city center. Semi-transparent glass-walled bathrooms, flat-screen televisions, full-length windows — it’s clear Ismael 312’s proprietors have been paying attention to the interior-design conventions of the boutique-hotel world. This clean-lined look has quickly become the global standard, instantly rendering a million flowery bedspreads obsolete. Here, if you’re fortunate, you’ve got a view of the park from a private balcony; if not, you can content yourself with the pared-down simplicity of your room’s contemporary design. Don’t expect five-star extravagance — Ismael 312 is little more than a pied-a-terre. In this neighborhood, though, that’s more than enough — you’re surrounded by restaurants and picturesque old streets, not to mention the park with its selection of museums, perfectly placed to circumambulate the city of a dreamy Sabbath afternoon.

From my little balcony a lovely view of the Parque Forestal and snowy mountains behind. But still very central, handy for the main sights. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful, taking extra care during the Covid 19 pandemic.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is very very clean and nicely decorated. The location is incredible being across the street from Parquet Forestal which is a beautiful park filled with families and couples enjoying the outdoors. Many excellent restaurants and points of interest are also nearby. What really makes this hotel special are the employees. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The service they provide is top notch. We felt like we were staying at a 5 star expensive hotel! We will miss Hotel Ishmael and their beautiful people.

This is a great place to stay. We booked a suite on the upper floor as part of our honeymoon. It was fantastic. Spotlessly clean, great view (see photos) and loads of space. The hotel's location is great. It's walking distance to the Plaza de Armas (10 minutes) and Bella Vista neighbourhood. The food at breakfast was good without being stunning but there is plenty of it and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We had to leave for a morning flight before breakfast opened but they made us a packed lunch to take with us which was very generous. There is a little snack station by the backdoor with tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit. The rooftop pool is good to cool off but don't expect to swim any laps. It's got a great view. We took our drinks up there in the afternoon and had the place to ourselves. The staff at the hotel were great. They helped us book transport, arrange treats for my wife in our room upon arrival (special mention for Gustavo) and with directions to ensure we didn't go protest areas during our time in Santiago. I would definitely recommend staying at Hotel Ismael if you are in Santiago.

This hotel was recommended by our tour organizer, Say Hueque, and it is a gem. Right across from a park and the river and out the back door a tourist paradise of restaurants and nightlife. The rooms are nice, the staff super helpful and the breakfasts are well above average. Glad to have been directed here.
