Sergio, Magarena, Andrea and Cat, thank you all. You are a fantastic team and made us feel so welcomed. This hotel is perfectly located for a walk to San Cristobal or Barrio Italia. The snacks and drink selection were great. This team answered all our questions and showed us a great time. We loved the patio and room. I hope we can come back one day. What a wonderful time!
Loved everything: the helpfull and sympathic staff, the room smelled great, the bed, sheets and pillow, the bathroom, the shared areas, the charming garden, the breakfast, all of it was perfect. Only dissapointment, the sauna was not included in the price and frankly quite expensive for a small sauna like this.
I must say that the hotel staff are amazing and do their best to assist the guests, but unfortunately the facilities itself are extremely poor. The rooms are too small, there are no a/c at all(it was extremely hot and actually quite unbelievable for 21st century), the furniture and everything inside the room are so tiny and unreliable, hot water - is another problem, you could hear everything in the hotel (as the walls are so thin). To summarize everything the hotel staff, breakfast And location are highlights of the place, and everything else is lowlights. Strongly recommend to stay in any other hotel (e.g. regal pacific is cheaper and much better)
An absolute gem. Stayed here on way to Atacama. Hotel is small, beautiful, quiet, with a lovely little garden. Impeccably clean. In the perfect location to explore Santiago. Staff are thoughtful and knowledgeable. Food is good, wine is great.
We were so fortunate to have a few days here and would go back again in a heartbeat. Our room was lovely, with a private patio into the interior courtyard, which was an oasis in the middle of the city. We were offered wine upon our arrival and breakfast each morning was delightful and a great way to get centered before a busy day touring Santiago. The hosts were knowledgeable and generous with their time, always available to answer questions or just to chat.
Great location, very safe, lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance in Italia region. Makarena checked us in and was very helpful and accommodating. Nice little courtyard to relax in when looking for some quiet time.
Spent a wonderful 2 days at this charming hotel. Staff couldn't do too much. Very comfortable rooms. Delicious breakfasts. Helpful advice on what to visit and when. Would recommend this delightful hotel and its charming staff to anyone wishing to spend a few days visiting Santiago.
The Carmenere Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel located in a very safe, quiet and trendy neighbourhood in Santiago. Very close to great shopping and vibrant restaurants in the Barrio Italia neighbourhood. The hotel owners and staff are very professional and friendly - willing to assist with tours, reservations and pretty much any of your needs. The room was clean and cozy and the back garden was very inviting. The breakfast included was very substantial and made with all local and fresh ingredients. If you are big breakfast eaters like we were, you wouldn't need to eat again until dinner. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling for a few days in Santiago whether on business or vacation.
I stayed here for nearly a week while visiting Santiago for work, and it felt like home away from home. The building has charm and character, with wooden floors, large windows and an extremely comfortable bed. High quality touches all around. The garden is an absolute gem, quiet and lovely, just the right spot to unwind amid flowers and string lights. The organic breakfast was outstanding, including avocado toast, eggs, fresh fruit, coffee, etc. Speaking of food, it's an easy 10 or 15 minute walk to Barrio Italia where you have endless choices for restaurants and bars. There are also two metro stations in easy walking distance. I would have liked the hotel regardless, but the proprietor made it a standout. He's a lovely gentleman who pays attention to all the details and ensures the guests feel welcome and comfortable. Thanks for a wonderful stay.…
We were very much looking forward to our long-anticipated anniversary trip to South America in March/April 2021 and staying at Carmenere Hotel while in Santiago. Unfortunately - due to Covid - we were forced to cancel our trip just days before our departure. I immediately reached out to all the hotels and service providers (we had booked many excursions and tours) across Chile, Argentina and Brazil to see if they could provide a refund or find another workable arrangement for us, e.g. allow us to rebook for a later date or at least try to accommodate us at a later date if somehow feasible, so we could still do the trip later, after Covid (luckily we're now back to planning our missed trip and hope to make it there in 2022). Now, months later, I can say that there was not a single hotel, airline or service provider that didn't find a workable solution for us with one exception - Carmenere Hotel. It was the only hotel that said it was our own fault. It was the only hotel that wasn't willing to even look into any alternatives for us and it didn't have a single word of compassion or understanding during the extraordinary circumstances that we all faced across the globe. There was not even a single good word for us like "stay healthy" or "take care". Our later emails were simply ignored. I am writing this because it shows a lot of character or lack thereof. You can have the most charming hotel with the best location, but if you don't genuinely care for people - especially when working in the hospitality sector - and have no interest/willingness to work with them or help them, I don't think you deserve any clients. I certainly would not consider staying at such a hotel in the future and would not recommend it to anyone else either.…
