Absolutely loved our stay at Casa Fischer and would probably rate it as one of the best places we stayed on our travels through Argentina and Chile. The property has two ensuite double rooms made out of converted shipping containers and having stayed in both we’d highly recommend them. Tastefully decorated, making excellent use of the space, they are really cozy and the bathrooms were excellent. While we had a slight preference for the upstairs room as the bathroom is slightly nicer, we’d be happy to stay in either. The complimentary wifi worked well in all areas of the property. We also loved the shared kitchen, which was superbly organised and well stocked with all the kitchenware you will need to cater for yourself. As it also has a nice dining table and fantastic warm fire we also found it a great place to have dinner or a glass of wine on a chilly evening. Alex the owner is a really lovely guy and in addition to providing stacks of information about the local area can also assist with excursions and car hire. Location is also fantastic, set on a nice quiet street just a few minutes walk from town. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.…
My fiancée and I stayed at casa Fischer for 4 nights with 5 other people in our family all travelling together. It was a wonderful place to stay in Puerto varas - clean, central location and the owners, Malva and Alex were incredibly caring. They helped us make plans, recommend restaurants, translate between Spanish and English, and taught us how to make a pisco sour! When they found out we were in chile for our wedding they even got us a small present. I could not rate this place higher! If you want the best room in the house stay in the shipping container out the back. Thanks so much Alex and Malva hopefully we'll be back one day!!
We stayed for three nights in a three month tour through South America. It will stand out as the highlight in the many places we have stayed. Our. Room was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. We made good use of the well-equipped communal kitchen. But the best thing was the help and friendship that Alex and Malva gave us. What nice people! We were sad to leave.
The location is ideal...walking distance to restaurants, markets and the town center. However we found our room disappointing. It was attached to a communal kitchen that also served as a social gathering place in the morning and on one evening till past midnight. The room itself was clean but tired..stains on a thin indoor/outdoor carpet and had a damp smell. It might serve other travelers well...especially backpackers....well but it did not measure up to our other stays for a comparable price. But, as others have said, the owners were very good hosts.
... That is what we really appreciated about Casa Fischer. Everything is clean and nice. There could be a bit more attention to detail to make it more cozy. Make sure you book a room in the container, our room in the main house was unfortunately tiny and should not have been sold for two people. But if you get a better room with private bath room you will probably have a good time. When you go out of the Casa you have direct view of the Volcano.
