Just 20 yards from the lake these new cabanas are ideal. They are beautifully constructed, tastefully furnished, and set on a long black sand beach. Floor to ceiling windows look out over the lake and the volcano. The kitchen is nicely sized, with both range top burners and and an oven, and the kitchen is well provided for. Cooking and eating while overlooking the lake became our standard dinner while here. We enjoyed sitting out on the lake front porch at night. We were two couples staying in a two bedroom unit. The fact that the one bathroom was designed so the shower and the toilet could each be separately/independently used helped make the two bedroom unit an easy place for four people to stay together. The family owning and operating these cabanas could not be nicer or more helpful.

About 30 kilometers outside of Puerto Varas is a group of modern and comfortable cabins. The layout is open with spectacular views of Llanquihue Lake. The lake looks different every time you gaze out at it. Nearby are some great sights. Don't miss Lago Todos Los Santos, sometimes called Lago Esmeralda, because of its blue-green color. We enjoyed this strikingly beautiful glacial lake bordered by steep cliffs and lunch at the lodge there. Also, don't miss Petrohué Waterfalls. These are volcanic chute falls that are dramatic and colorful. This waterfall is inside the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, close to the road leading to the Petrohue locality on lake Todos los Santos. The proprietor and I had a short and stressful misunderstanding about the booking but it was resolved with good communication on both of our parts. Having said this, you should be aware that getting wifi coverage in Puerto Varas was VERY difficult. We finally went into the Patagonia store there where the kind employees helped us contact the host of Cala Meli to get directions. I would strongly advise you to work out the directions to these lovely cabins BEFORE you get to Puerto Varas.

My husband and I visited some friends in the lake district and decided to stay at Cala Meli for some days. A friend had recommended this hidden jewel to me and so my expectations were pretty high when i got there: and even so it was an incredibly positive surprise. The cabins were super cozy, clean and wonderfully decorated. The views to the volcano were absolutely astonishing and the owners were super super nice and sweet to us the entire stay: they gave us great trekking tips around the area and were always very attentive to our needs. I fell in love with their dogs:))) Overall, a unique hotel in a magical place! Shame its so far from home!!

Our latest trip to Chile was an amazing one, but it did not reach its peak moment until we went to visit the lake region in the south of the country, around Puerto Varas. It was through the discovery of Cala Melí that our trip ended on the best highlight ever!! This hotel consists of a few beautiful cabins, simple and unassuming, yet comfortable, peaceful and fully packed with all the ammenities you need, literally right in front of the lakeshore. What a setting! And, of course, one thing leads to the other: not only are you in a comfortable and peaceful hotel, you literally have a stunning view in front of you every time you walk out the door or look out of the window, with the lake stretching out in front of you and hey, why not a volcano at the other end? :) The service was excellent as well: everything was super clean, and we were taken care of at all moment by Bianca, owner of the hotel, who could not be nicer! We were there for 3 amazing days and nights that we will never forget, and we highly recommend to anyone heading in that direction to stay at Cala Melí.

We booked these cabins when our original hotel informed us that they had double booked us. Without ever having gone to Puerto Varas (or Chile!!) we were clearly a little panicked. We found this little gem on Trip Advisor one week before our intended stay. There is no exaggeration: LAKE FRONT. VOLCANO VIEW. IMMERSED IN NATURE. CHARMING and DETAILED CABINS!! Everything was absolutely clean. The owners made all the effort in the world in helping us set up our hiking trips, water sports on the lake, letting us know where to shop, and what bars/restaurants to go to. We will definitely be going back-- 10pm pink sunsets overlooking the lake and the volcano are things you definitely want to experience again. Paired with the warmth of the cabins, and the VERY affordable price-- what a dream. five stars!

Hard to believe this place exists! By far the best we stayed at while travelling Chile. Perfect for a romantic getaway! Cala Melí greatly surpassed our expectations. Stunning location. Cabins are warm, have excellent beds, are well decorated and fully equipped. The owners are such welcoming people. I even got to wakeboard in the Llanquihue Lake, amazing experience! Looking forward to visit again!
