reservatin was made by our agency.and ı had choosen casa calfu over the photos.but ıf ı know the standarts ı would not.first of all a bit far from the town.building is good lokking in the garden we stayed upstairs ground was made wood and when somebody walks it makes too much noise.seconly our room was small with 2 suitcases and shower was also small and there were no chance to turn around without touching the plastic curtains.good parts clean room helpfull friendly staff maybe a bit more night receptionist were wellcoming us by singing.in 2 nights.breakfast area is nice especially at the front like a winter garden.and breakfast was a bit above average if you asked they make you a eggs.
Cross between a hostel and a hotel. The staff were friendly. Our room was a fair size and the bathroom was also an OK size. The place was very clean. There is no lift so travel light. Dining area was a bit cramped as there were 16 of us in a cycling group and when others came in for breakfast it was crowded. The staff kept replacing food regularly and none of us went short. Eggs were cooked fresh according to how you preferred them. There is a lounge area that can be used for meetings. Not sure what other guests thought of us as we took it over for morning and evening briefings. Wifi could be intermittent. It is a pleasant walk to the centre of the town which has a wide variety of shops and eating places. I would willingly stay again.
Some wrote about spacious rooms with views, not us. We were on the lowest level below the lobby area and can hear everyone walking above us, and in the wooden, squeaky hallway, and noises from the next room. The old wooden floors squeak everywhere. We got a small cramped room with nowhere to put 2 suitcases. There are no other toiletries except soap. The small room gets stuffy. The wifi is nearly nonexistent and you usually have to go to the lobby to hopefully get it to work. The staff not very friendly except 1 young lady who was very helpful when we arrived. This morning breakfast was not set up at 0700. They were still putting out food at 0715 and we needed to start our tour at 0800. We felt rushed. It is a 15 min walk to town, not conveniently located. After touring all day, we didn't feel like hiking into town. Walked to the end of the street to Quintal, has at great view of the mountain. IF you have a severe cat allergy, do not stay here. There is a friendly resident cat that hangs out in the common area. A travel agent made these arrangements. I'm sure I could have done better.…
Casa Kalfu was an excellent location that allowed you to walk 15 minutes to the heart of Puerto Varas. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. There is some hallway noise from other guests but we did not find it that bothersome. Breakfast was basic but plenty to get us started for the day. Our interactions with the staff were all pleasant and accommodating. For the price, it was worth the stay for us but keep in mind that it is not a luxury hotel
The rooms are very basic. Walls are very thin and noisy. Floors squeak. The breakfast was very basic and the breakfast room wasn’t able to handle the number of people. Staff not very competent. Good location though for walking into town and close to the waters edge
