The hotel is in a central location for hiking and kayaking with beautiful views sitting directly on Lake Llanquihue. Although our room was on the top floor, it was at the very end and thus our view of Mount Osorno was completely blocked by trees. But we still had a spectacular view of the lake and looking down into other people's rooms so be careful if you are on a lower level that you keep your shades drawn if you don't want people to be able to see into your room. My absolute favorite thing about the hotel was the heated bathroom floors and LED lights in the jacuzzi tub. The tub was a little difficult to figure out how to fill and I had to ask for more bath salts as they weren't always automatically refilled, but I loved taking a hot colorful bath after some hard days hiking and kayaking. Although there was a fireplace in the room, which was a nice touch, we never used it since it wasn't really cold and I instead spent my free time in the tub. The room was spacious with great floor to ceiling windows for beautiful views. The stainless steel water bottles they provide with self-service water tap refills at the bar is a very nice touch.

AWA is nothing short of superb. The design is totally unique and so different from the other hotels in the area. The views of Volcano Osorno are simply fantastic from all around the hotel, and to wake up to that view from the bedroom is rather special. Bedrooms with open fires are incredibly spacious, and the 25m pool is a treat. What we particularly loved was the free use of the hotel’s kayaks, and swimming from the private beach. The restaurant serves inventive food, all delicious and very sensibly priced. We loved the guided hike arranged for us around Osorno, and Barbara was an exceptionally good guide. Likewise Angelica at the front desk couldn’t have been more helpful.
In short, if you stay one place in Chile make it AWA!

We drove directly from the airport at Puerto Montt (about 50 minutes). From the street the building cuts a striking architectural image, and the entrance is not well marked. The lobby is below street level and there is a ramp and some steps to get to the main entrance. Parking is provided and it is free. The staff at reception was very welcoming and provided assistance with our baggage, delivering it to our rooms. The rooms have spectacular views across Lake Llanquihue to the Osorno Volcano. The hotel was designed to maximize the opportunities for catching glimpses of the ever changing sky and natural surroundings, and there are two piers, one with seating and fire bowls where you can enjoy views of the sunrise or sunset. There’s a small beach, a spa with indoor lap pool, hot bath, sauna and a steam room (which was closed for service during our visit. We were able to book rime at the spa on very short notice. Kayaks and bicycles are also provided. The staff is very accommodating, do we were able to organize an impromptu bottle of wine and charcuterie on the dock at sunset with friends. The suites are spacious, finished in warm woods and featuring a wood burning fireplace which can be ignited on request. Additional logs are stored outside the door to the suite. The bathroom featured a jacuzzi style tub although the water pressure was low and it took some time to fill. The rain shower (and wand) provided adequate pressure and almost instant hot water. The toilet is in a separate space with a door, and the entire suite is quite functional and comfortable. The king sized bed, pillows and crisp white linens were very comfortable, and remote controls are provided for the window shades and television - although with such amazing views we did not turn the TV on during our stay. The staff also provided excellent advice on things to see and do. There is an excellent restaurant and bar areas with a variety of seating options. Dining requires prior notification or reservations and the menu changes daily. Can’t say enough about how stunning the views are and the atmosphere blends the coziness of a ski lodge with contemporary design. Highly recommend!

One of three hotels we stayed at in the Puerto Varas area and hands down the best. Rooms are spacious and offer great views of the lake and volcano, at least when not obscured by fog and clouds. Our room was the nicest we had in our two weeks in Chile. Location is great if you have a car but if not your 25K from Puerto Varas and it's very good restaurants. We utilized the kayaks and bikes both of which were in excellent condition and ate dinner in the hotel dinning room both nights. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially in the dinning room.
I don't rate many hotels as excellent but was very tempted to do so in this case. The room and view certainly deserve it. The things that bring it down a bit are in large part explained by the size the the place , a tiny gym and somewhat limited dinning options. When you only have thirty guests or so and are located 25 minutes or so from town it makes it hard to support more than a handful of dinner options. That said l was disappointed with one of our two dinners, enough that we considered, fortunately did not do so as the second dinner was excellent, driving back to town the second night.

The advertising indicated this to be a 5 star hotel but the service fell well below this threshold and this is frankly unacceptable given the high price tag. There was honestly so much wrong with our stay that it is best to list the issues in bullet form.
View: 9/10. This was one of the only redeeming qualities of the hotel. Amazing view from our room of the volcano. But that view is blocked by trees for some of the bedrooms and the spa, which is incredibly silly considering this is a major selling point of the hotel.
Food: 7/10. Restaurant food was, for the most part, really good although 1) service was terrible (more on this below), 2) they overcooked our steaks and salmon on one occasion, 3) the restaurant charges separately to the hotel rooms so good food here does not make up for the high price tag to stay there.
Service: 1/10. The staff seems completely inexperienced for a 5 star hotel. Not one meal went by where they didn't forget parts of our order. One of us is gluten free and they never remembered this and offered two dishes with gluten. A number of times we walked on staff idly on their phones or sitting on the stairs of common areas, which just seemed very unprofessional. We were told we'd get complimentary drinks at the restaurants for our first night, which never happened. We had also previously booked to use the swimming pool jacuzzi and sauna, only to show up to our slotted timeframe and found that nothing was turned on. We had to ask the staff members 4 times in a one hour period to turn the jacuzzi and sauna on, which is totally unacceptable when these should have been prepped for our arrival
Cleanliness: 1/10. Again, for a 5 star hotel, the level of cleanliness was unacceptable. Dead flies at the spa, dirty windows (despite the hotel's whole point is a nice view of the volcano), dirty chairs outside on the pier.
Amenities: 1/10. Hot water in our shower did not work on the first night. The next day they sent plumbers down to fix but had me deal with them rather than send a member of staff. The plumbers simply left at one point without the water being fixed. At which point I had to call reception again to call them back to fix it. They even tried to argue with me that the water was warm enough, again, unacceptable to have that attitude at a 5 start hotel. I should not have to settle of lukewarm water at best. Finally I caught a manager that was able to get it working but putting guests through a whole morning of sorting the hot water out is not okay. We complained and their only response was to give us one free dinner. The spa facilities were very disappointing, the pool was dirty and cold and the jacuzzi did not turn on properly.

We ended a fabulous 2+ weeks vacation in Chile at the beautiful AWA hotel near Puerto Varas. The hotel is right on the lake with Osorno volcano dominating the skyline. A modern hotel with luxury and grace, our room with its many floor to ceiling windows had an outstanding view of the volcano. The room was well appointed with a large freestanding tub and a glass shower that allowed you to never miss viewing the lake and volcano. The staff was attentive as you would expect from a luxury hotel. We used the hotel’s mountain bikes to ride around the lake and their paddle boards to venture out onto the lake. The food was beautifully prepared and quite delicious. This hotel was a total surprise and ended our vacation on a high note. I highly recommend the hotel.

Hotel AWA’s property has one of the best views — if not the best — in Puerto Varas. While it bills itself as an upscale, luxury hotel, there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of its customer service. We stayed there for two nights on our Chilean adventure, and this hotel was definitely not up to same standards as the others. Upon checking into our room, there was only water in the refrigerator, yet the next day after hiking we came back to a full refrigerator of sodas, water, wine, beer, etc. and snacks. Seems like someone forgot something the first day when first impressions really matter. The turn-down service amounts to someone knocking on the door and handing you some chocolates. The food in the restaurant was really good for dinner, and the breakfast buffet was quite exceptional (for a buffet), but the wait staff service was underwhelming. The first night for dinner we stood and waited to be seated for 5-8 minutes (with only two other tables in the dining area) and seemed to wait an explicable long time for food and drink deliveries. The drivers and guides were average and friendly enough. Many times, they seemed more interested in conversing with themselves than talking with us about the area. The room was quite comfortable. However, they’re not big on washcloths, and the shower drain didn’t seem to be working very well because when you used the rain shower at half to full power, the water flowed over the lip into the bathtub area. The windows throughout the hotel also need a full-time window cleaner, both inside and out due to bugs, bird droppings, etc. Additionally, the pond across the front could really be quite spectacular with some attention, power washing and algaecide. This stay was good for a couple of days. I do have to admit it was the view that saved the stay.

Awa Hotel was the perfect spot to stay in order to explore the area around the Osorno Volcano and Puerto Varas/Puerto Montt.
We were warmly greeted by Juan Pablo when we arrived. He helped us with our luggage and made sure we were well setup in our room. They had a drip coffee machine in our room - we requested a Nespresso machine, and they quickly brought it up to us.
We are still being very cautious with the pandemic, and the hotel went above and beyond to accommodate us. The restaurant always set us up in an area slightly away from other guests and by a window for fresh air (the hotel never felt very full). We really appreciate their efforts to make us feel comfortable. We were on the half-board program, and dinner was included. The chef was very talented, and we were able to choose a 3 course meal from a different menu every night. It was a lot of fun tasting the local produce and fishes/crustaceans/meats. The wines were also very good, and included with the dinner menu. Desserts were VERY tasty. Sofia and Nicolas were our favorite servers (Happy Birthday again, Nico!!), both so sweet and caring. Sofia was our server on night 1, when we arrived, and helped us with a lot of tips for our days out exploring, which ended up making our trip so special. She even suggested a day trip to Chiloe Island, which turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Thank you Sofia! We enjoyed everyone - Ghislaine, Macarena, all the other staff at the restaurant and bar were just fantastic.
We opted to have breakfast in our room every morning. We’d tell them after dinner what we wanted to have the next morning, and in the morning they would show up with a super nice spread of delicious items to eat and drink.
All in all a great experience, and probably the best option in and around Puerto Varas. With a view to die for!!!!!

Just had one of the most magical hotel experiences in my life. It is true that the scenery (right on the shore of lake Llanquihue) and the season (fall) give a perfect ambiance to begin with but the hotel in itself is also beautiful. The color pallet and the mix of concrete + wood gives a unique and modern touch to the building. My room, which was a suite on the 4th floor with uninterrupted view to the lake and to Osorno volcano, was tastefully decorated. The volcano was somewhat blocked by a tree so if you like a better view of the volcano you should ask for room 42. People working here are very amicable and make you feel genuinely welcomed. Service can be improved a little but it is more related to training than attitude. The latter is on the right spot. If you like massages don´t skip the spa. It is a bargain for the quality of treatment you get, believe me, it is one of the best massages you will ever receive. Last but not least, the food quality is on the high note and they serve an excellent array of Chilean wines. This is truly a place to get the relaxation you are looking while feeding all your senses.

Dear Lat0traveler, First of all, thank you for your amazing words. We are so grateful you sharing your unique experience and let people know about it. As you mentioned, the architect had the perfect idea bringing the balance between the concrete and wood, that gives the hotel a unique touch and elegance at the same time. Thank you also for your words for our staff, we are a little AWA family that wants to give our guests our best atention, service and smiles! We hope you can come back again. All the best. We came here for our anniversary. Beautiful architecture and view of the lake and volcano. Unfortunately our room was a bit noisy, we were on the first floor and the pump of the spa was right underneath making a constant humming sound this felt very loud during the night. We could also hear breakfast being prepared early morning as there is poor isolation.
When we explained this to reception next morning, they did eventually give us another room after a days investigation. We received the room at 9pm that evening. I do feel that there should of been more of an understanding from reception from the start. They came across rather dismiss as if we were just being difficult guests.
I am English and my husband Chilean, so I do speak Spanish but found it very rude when I asked whether there was another room available and they answered with “ninguna posibilidad” even my husband found that reply rather inappropriate.
However, I have to say that this was not all at front of house, Constanza from reception was lovely and really attentive. Also the restaurant is delicious, all fresh products from the hotels orchard and the waiters were lovely, big thanks to Claudio!
Over all would recommend just don’t stay on first floor.

Hello dear Natasha & Jorge, Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your experience. We are very delighted to know that you had a good stay over all and our most sincere apologize for the inconvenience. We are truly sorry for the noise that night and the answer that was given at the front desk. It was one of the switches for the jacuzzi at the spa. Now it is fixed and we make sure to turn it off before closing the spa. I have great news, Constanza is the new person in charge of the front desk. I will happily give them your regards to Constanza and to Claudio. We hope to have the opportunity to have you back so we can improve your experience with us. Sincerely, David Durán Hotel Manager
