2022 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
The hotel is located on the shores of Lake Llanquihue, close to Puerto Varas and at the gateway to the immaculate Chilean Patagonia. It was designed by its architect owners and stands as a contemporary interpretation of the typical style of the area, combining modern and sophisticated elements with the charm of local crafts and traditions. Each of its 16 guest rooms boast uninterrupted views across Lake Llanquihue to Volcano Osorno. Guests can also enjoy exclusive access to hotel facilities, such as the spa with a semi-Olympic pool, the beach and its private jetty and the organic fruit and vegetable garden. AWA also possesses a fine dining restaurant who's gastronomic menu is based on produce from its organic garden and local growers. All the excursions are private and tailored towards the requirements of each guest, depending on their interests and preferences.

It was a spectacular stay, the standard of the hotel is excellent, the architecture and decoration is beautiful, the natural environment is wonderful and the hotel staff (in all areas and hierarchies) simply EVEN BETTER than all of the above, I highlight their warmth, friendliness and high level of service. We were surprised by the proposal of the restaurant, an interesting mix between sophisticated, innovative, authentic and full of representative flavors of the area. Everything delicious, from breakfast to dinner. By far the best we tried on the trip. The Farm to Table experience was great, they should promote it even more and enhance that cozy space in the Village. Another high point, the charm and simplicity of Camilo, who from his role as Chef stands out for being professional, human and talented, both with the team he leads and with the guests they receive at AWA.

The experience was completely mind-blowing. Rooms with lake view are speechless and every detail of the hotel is carefully selected. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all the requirements to make our weekend perfect. Is the place to go in Puerto Varas.

Mind blowing view from the rooms of the gorgeous blue lake and the mountain, Osorno, hotel had great services in-house like spa, etc and wonderful support staff that took us on excursions. We rode our bikes by the lake in a national park and had a picnic one day, which was awesome. Wonderful stay coz food was awesome!

We had a blip as the room we were given when we arrived had malfunctioning heating. So we were moved for the night, to be moved to a superb room the following day. David, the manager, most helpful and attentive throughout our stay. Food ( we had half board) was really good and I’m not generally a dessert eater but oh! wonderful. Wonderful massage too, and the pool was lovely. A comment for the hotel to think about is the placing of the ordering system in the restaurant - it meant the staff had their backs to the diners quite a lot. But can’t fault the staff themselves. Thank you

We came here for our anniversary. Beautiful architecture and view of the lake and volcano. Unfortunately our room was a bit noisy, we were on the first floor and the pump of the spa was right underneath making a constant humming sound this felt very loud during the night. We could also hear breakfast being prepared early morning as there is poor isolation. When we explained this to reception next morning, they did eventually give us another room after a days investigation. We received the room at 9pm that evening. I do feel that there should of been more of an understanding from reception from the start. They came across rather dismiss as if we were just being difficult guests. I am English and my husband Chilean, so I do speak Spanish but found it very rude when I asked whether there was another room available and they answered with “ninguna posibilidad” even my husband found that reply rather inappropriate. However, I have to say that this was not all at front of house, Constanza from reception was lovely and really attentive. Also the restaurant is delicious, all fresh products from the hotels orchard and the waiters were lovely, big thanks to Claudio! Over all would recommend just don’t stay on first floor.

Response from David Duran, Atención al huésped/Recepción at Hotel Awa
Responded Mar 27, 2022
Hello dear Natasha & Jorge, Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your experience. We are very delighted to know that you had a good stay over all and our most sincere apologize for the inconvenience. We are truly sorry for the noise that night and the answer that was given at the front desk. It was one of the switches for the jacuzzi at the spa. Now it is fixed and we make sure to turn it off before closing the spa. I have great news, Constanza is the new person in charge of the front desk. I will happily give them your regards to Constanza and to Claudio. We hope to have the opportunity to have you back so we can improve your experience with us. Sincerely, David Durán Hotel Manager

We could tell from the photos that architecturally the hotel was amazing. And it was. Mesmerizes looking out of a hotel room at the beautiful volcano and lake. However what made it truly special was the gracious kind service that we received from everyone that worked there. Pleasant and willing to speak English with our inability to speak spanish. The day excursion with Risa was so helpful and informative. At the last minute we had to get an additional Covid test to go to Patagonia and she walked us through that whole process. The food is absolutely delicious. The meals were different for the five days we were there and each one was delectable. The only thing I would say that needs to be improved is the landscaping which would be easy maintenance. Fill in the muddy ponds/pools when you walk in and cut back the overgrowth around the sitting area outside. We were extremely happy with our stay here. Highlight of our Chilean trip.

We wanted to get away from the city before lockdown began and so we chose this great place in a quick last chance calendar spot. The hotel is not big, but it’s well designed. It has direct access to the lake, a view of it and the Volcano almost from every angle. We stayed longer than planned and simply loved it. The staff is an important part of the experience: they truly make you feel at home and they care of every little detail. The room was excellent, had a great jacuzzi and an amazing view. Simply perfect!!

The hotel is in a central location for hiking and kayaking with beautiful views sitting directly on Lake Llanquihue. Although our room was on the top floor, it was at the very end and thus our view of Mount Osorno was completely blocked by trees. But we still had a spectacular view of the lake and looking down into other people's rooms so be careful if you are on a lower level that you keep your shades drawn if you don't want people to be able to see into your room. My absolute favorite thing about the hotel was the heated bathroom floors and LED lights in the jacuzzi tub. The tub was a little difficult to figure out how to fill and I had to ask for more bath salts as they weren't always automatically refilled, but I loved taking a hot colorful bath after some hard days hiking and kayaking. Although there was a fireplace in the room, which was a nice touch, we never used it since it wasn't really cold and I instead spent my free time in the tub. The room was spacious with great floor to ceiling windows for beautiful views. The stainless steel water bottles they provide with self-service water tap refills at the bar is a very nice touch.

AWA is nothing short of superb. The design is totally unique and so different from the other hotels in the area. The views of Volcano Osorno are simply fantastic from all around the hotel, and to wake up to that view from the bedroom is rather special. Bedrooms with open fires are incredibly spacious, and the 25m pool is a treat. What we particularly loved was the free use of the hotel’s kayaks, and swimming from the private beach. The restaurant serves inventive food, all delicious and very sensibly priced. We loved the guided hike arranged for us around Osorno, and Barbara was an exceptionally good guide. Likewise Angelica at the front desk couldn’t have been more helpful. In short, if you stay one place in Chile make it AWA!

It was a pleasure to stay at Hotel AWA where so much thought has gone into the hotel, common and dining areas, guest rooms and amenities. Wherever you venture within the hotel, there are outstanding views to Lake Llanquihue and the Osorno Volcano. Rooms are luxuriously appointed with most comfortable large beds, excellent ensuite and spacious areas to relax. Within, rooms are very quiet. Guest facilities are excellent, with areas inside and outdoors. Meals throughout our stay were outstanding, as was the efficient service from all staff. Coupled with staying here are many optional activities. These excursions are well run, personally guided and designed with guests needs in mind. Well done to all, a memorable area of Chile.
