we had stay cation at Villa Samadhi in Dec 2020, Villa samadhi is a quaint british era structure found in labrador park. Surrounded by lush green trees, it is a rarity in a concrete jungle like Singapore. The rooms are clean, beautiful and have maintained a wonderful all wood feel. The staff were attentive, cheerful and very helpful. The service alone would be enough for me to recommend booking a room here. The breakfast served at the nearby Tamarind Hill restaurant was fantastic (I would recommend the traditional dishes) and the short walk to the restaurant through the trees was novel. Highly recommend staying here for a different feel in Singapore.
Spent four days at the end of 2020 trying to do the impossible in Singapore - "get away" at a time when we literally can't, physically and mentally. What a find Villa Samadhi is (i almost don't want to tell people about it). This cosy hidden treasure, surrounded by cicadas and greenery, is perfect if you're looking for privacy and solitude, with easy access to some of Singapore's loveliest nature reserves for birdsong, butterflies, forest and fresh air. Some superb cafes and dining in the close vicinity, i've discovered that the West of Singapore has wide open spaces and ambience to match good food. Service can make or break even the best property - we were cared for by a wonderful team, led by GM Ewan, who understands understated luxury and exceptional service. Book directly with the hotel, was most impressed by the many special touches like English afternoon teas, cocktail hour and nightcaps that come with room. Special mention for the exceptional 5-star gourmet breakfast offerings that put other so-called top name hotels in SG to shame. Tip: Do a Weekday getaway to avoid crowds. You'll pretty much have the sea front and nature reserves to yourself. Cant wait for my next visit.…
Second time to Villa Samadhi, and won't be the last! Nestled in the greenery of Labrador Park, makes for a successful escape from Singapore city life. Definitely get the room with a plunge pool, and I heard that they will be building an outdoor pool within Q1 of 2021. Can't wait for a return visit!
We had an amazing time here. It was a beautiful location and the surroundings made it feel like we weren’t in Singapore. Service was great and good at Tamarind Hill was delicious! If you want a tranquil getaway in the lush tropics of Singapore, this is it!
Such a delight to spend our new years eve night at this hotel. We booked one night Villa Samadhi experience. This came with high tea, evening cocktails, dinner in the thai restaurant and breakfast. The villa has 20 rooms or thereabout and is 100 years old. It is just charming. The location is in the middle of a rain forest so you dont feel at all as if you are in Singapore. There are many trails and walks around the hotel to walk off all of that great food. The 4 poster bed is incredibly comfortable and the ensuite bathrooms with wooden shutters opening up into the rain forest from the second floor very unique. We met the new GM Ewan Taylor who has only been in residence for three months but you know already that he is going to make a real impact with this hotel on the Singapore scene. Very hands on, friendly and personable he made our and fellow guests stay a pleasure along with his team. The Library where you are served high tea is beautiful with a huge day bed and leather arm chairs. The restaurant Tamarind Hills is exquisite and is subject of my separate review of todays date. Dinner was great on the Eve and on new years day the breakfast on the verandah was wonderful. To us this was Raffles Hotel before all of the mega renovations and more personable, charming and less imposing. It is rustic so if you dont like rustic then give it a miss and stay at a Singapore Marriott. If you want to be transported into a bygone era of luxury stay here with the friendly staff and unique location. Be quick though, Ewan will make this place no doubt more popular in the coming months and no doubt more difficult to get one of the 20 rooms. Have fun!…
