The rooms were clean and basic but we wern't planning on staying in the room much. The location to trains and buses is excellent and well as food. You could walk to lots of places in Singapore. I must say the service we received one night was excellent. There was alot of street noise from a Uni party. We approached reception and the manager came to our room to hear the noise then offered us another room on the quite side of the hotel it was not necessary for us to pack up, just sleep in the other room. We were very impressed and thankful for the service. We would recommend this hotel to others good value for Singapore and great location.

The rooms are dreary and sad. The breakfast buffet is truly horrible and limited. If you chance to stay at a time when a large tour / conference crowd is also put up, it adds to the misery. Definitely not a 4 star by any chance. Location is perhaps the only redeeming quality.

Got to agree with others that this hotel does not rate at 4 stars. I would say 3. We stayed 3 nights on the top floor in an executive suite - a misnomer. The room was clean, well air conditioned, with a comfortable queen bed, but looked a bit “tired”. The shower was over the bath with a clinging shower curtain and low water pressure. There was no laundry for guests, cork screw or bottle opener, nor ice without getting it from the restaurant on the ground floor. Not what we expected in something worth 4 stars. The closeness of the Bras Basah MRT station was a positive. The included breakfast was no where as good as our previous experiences in that it lacked availability of things like poached eggs, cooked tomatoes and hash browns. So we did not try the in house restaurant for dinner but walked to Bugis and got great value hawker type food for very little cost. As one other reviewer mentioned, the hotel has lots of Asian youth tour groups so things are more marketed at the than retired Australian couples. Would pick some where else to stay if in Singapore again.

The location is quite convenient to trains and busses, and lots of dining experiences. The hotel itself is average. The staff we found also average...except for the older gentleman who was concierge for much of our stay. He was friendly and helpful. Our aircon was an icebox with no thermostat. It was set to freeze...not a healthy atmosphere to be entering and exiting when the outside temperatures were so very warm and humid. Dining experience was down to a disappointing breakfast. Our bathroom was a flood risk because of poor design and half blocked drains. Not a great experience. Would try to stay in the area again, but probably not in this hotel.

We picked this hotel for our 3 night Singapore stopover. We would probably choose one of the other options next time. It was a place to sleep. The room was clean. The bathroom was modern however, the basin was quite high on the bench and difficult for me to get my elbows over the edge to wash my face. When you stand in the tub to shower the water goes onto the non-curtain side of the tub, runs around both ends of the tub then down the side into a little drain recessed into the floor. That would not be a problem if the drain water actually then ran down into a pipe. The drain hole was obviously blocked but we couldn't see anything blocking it. Consequently, after the first person in our room took a shower the bathroom was awash. Our other biggest problem was that the air conditioning thermostat didn't work. Freezing air blasted into our room all night. If we turned it off the room became stuffy so we had no option but to leave it on. We had to ask for blankets. The reception staff are not friendly. There are no smiles involved. There were no explanations offered about what the hotel offered e.g. pool, restaurant etc. We basically checked in, told that we did not have a breakfast package, and told where breakfast service was if we wanted it, then found our own way to our room. No other information given. There is a restaurant on the second floor of the hotel called Fu Lin Men. This has nothing to do with the hotel. It is an outsource. And it was our experience that the staff there are very unfriendly, and rude as well. The older man on the door was the only saving grace. He gave service with a smile and we had very pleasant and helpful interactions with him. The breakfast service was disappointing. We tried it once but there are many other options that are better. We had a drink in that area in the late afternoon. The young man who served us was pleasant They only serve one type of beer but it was nice beer.. Overall this was just an okay place to stay for the price if you just want a clean bed and bathroom and don't expect a friendly atmosphere. A warm greeting and service with a smile costs nothing, but it can make a huge difference to how you feel about a place.
