Singapore is insanely expensive. I paid $100 for this room which had no window, a bathroom so small that you could literally shower while you sat on the toilet and a room that I couldn't open my suitcase in because there wasn't enough room. It was in a great location and am unsure if this was a good deal for...

Six of us were due to be in Singapore for one night so we booked three rooms here on 8 July. Thankfully it turned out to be for just one night!! As other reviews have stated, the exterior and the lobby are very attractive, but beware of what you're getting for your money! None of our rooms had one window...

What can i say.. we were put on the ground floor of the hotel in a windowless room. I asked to change due to the noise, but they only had another room on the ground floor. The Noise was unbearable with loud banging of other doors (amphasised by wooden floors instead of carpets) and very noisy air con machines that...

I stayed in Hotel 81 Chinatown from November 8 - 11, 2006. I'm only writing this review now since I needed time to just sit down and write reviews about the hotels I've stayed in for the past few months. I choose this hotel since I wanted a budget hotel around Chinatown (near the office). It seems that every time...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
