While this hotel may feel a bit away from the touristy hot spots, it is adjacent to Chinatowns "Food street" and the hawker centre, meaning it is close to lots of good food. It is a 10 minute walk to an MRT station. The hotel staff was helpful and accommodating, and the rooms are nicely appointed and playful.

There's no windows in room, not well ventilated. For the price that they are charging, there's a lot more hotels in Singapore that much more better! This is the first and last time that I'm going to the hotel.

I came to the Scarlett with high expectations but I'm very disappointed. Firstly I had to pay a deposit of 100 Singapore dollars (in addition to what I paid for the room). I was completely blindsided. Granted, the deposit is refundable, however, after seven days. This is very inconvenient and precisely the reason why I avoid car rentals. I don't... More

Most hotel rooms in Singapore are small - its just a fact of life. These rooms are also small so we opted for the Executive Balcony room. It had a little french window that opened onto a small balcony (with a view of the carpark across the road), but it was nice to have that spot and extra room to... More

The Scarlet is a hop, skip and jump from China Town. It's staff are very helpful and friendly and it's safe to walk around at night there as a female. It is a small basic boutique hotel. The rooms are very small, we booked an executive with a balcony. It is tastefully decorated but very basic. Ideal if you don't... More

I had a staycation there awhile ago. The ambience of the hotel was fantastic. Once you arrived the hotel staff was already there to welcome you. At the counter I was greeted by a wonderful person, Ms Ebel Teo. She informed us about the hotel facilities and had given me a complimentary upgrade! After our wonderful conversation, I found out... I've stayed here several time. It has improved over the year for the most part. My room was more than adequate and well maintained. . The staff was helpful. The location was good and only a short walk from the hotel to the nearest MTR station. The breakfasts were not as good as in the past, but acceptable.

First time staying at this boutique hotel. Great location, situated in the middle historical heartland. With a convenience store 1 min away and plenty of local food nearby, we were spoilt with choices. The hotel looked rather small and confined (shophouses) from the outside but we were greeted with a pleasant surprise to a cosy and comfortable room! Even though... More

Booked a premium room at The Scarlet and was hoping to receive intimate and cozy room. Room looks elegant but comes without window hence feeling a little claustrophobic. Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Scarlet Singapore, Singapore's first luxury boutique hotel, has made a bold statement, both locally and internationally, by preserving and combining the architectural styles of Singapore heritage buildings with a striking, audacious concept. Vivacious and uninhibited, the interiors of this 80-room hotel pulsate with an eclectic tension, offering all who enter an adventure for the senses. Using signature red and combining it with opulent gold and sophisticated black, the hotel decor's provocative style is followed through in the rooms including 5 individually-themed suites, each with a tantalizing name - Splendour, Passion, Opulent, Lavish and Swank. ... more   less
