I stayed at the Amoy for 2 nights. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room is small but comfortable, nice shower and slept great in the bed. The location can't be beat. The front desk staff helped me on my last day: my flight didn't leave until evening time, so they held my luggage for me and gave me an empty room for an hour to cool off, clean up, and get ready before heading to the airport.
The hotel is situated within the renovated shophouses of Singapore early days that's been preserved as part of the heritage and well integrated into the current Far East Square as it is known today. Located a few minutes walk away from Telok Ayer MRT and nearby Amoy St as well as Chinatown where many great F&B outlets resides, it isn't much of an issue travelling around or finding the venue for your next meal. The oriental decors within is stands out pleasantly from the moment you arrive at the lobby, and we were pleasantly surprised by the welcome drink that was served to us in what resembled to those wine bottles and bowls used in ancient China. Rooms were very spacious and had the same oriental feel as well as elements of nolstalgia, ranging from the old school telephone to tingkats used to contain some snacks. Due to the way the hotel was built, we were informed that no rooms are identical in terms of layout. Since this staycation was for my significant other's birthday, there was this handmade souvenir they've prepared for her. with some personalised touch and a handwritten note. The hospitality and service shown by the staff throughout our 2 nights there were excellent, acceding to our requests and helping me out with some of these requests prior to our stay. Special mention to Bryan for the service before and during our stay too. The recently added heritage tour in the vicinity was a great eyeopener led by the manager Alvin, which we learnt a lot about the stories that came with the history of Singapore and hidden corners with paintings and murals. It definitely made it to the highlight of the stay. Will we come back for a stay? Definitely. With the great location, comfortable room and the superbly high standards of service that left us with such great memories, it's hard not to consider coming back for another staycation. For those who will like a change from those modernised hotel stay, do check this hotel out for yourself.…
Amazing hotel, great location, quirky and modern at the same time, great staff and somewhere I'd stay at again in a heartbeat. The team at the hotel are so friendly, thank you for looking after us. Location wise, not sure you could get better without paying stupid money ($600+ a night). Walking distance to Gardens by the Bay, great places to eat all around..... and.... a rooftop garden just a hundred metres away!
I selected this hotel mainly because of it’s downtown location and good reviews. It is also a boutique hotel which I prefer to large chain hotels so long as they have modern conveniences. Even though I arrived at 2:00am the front desk attendant was very helpful and efficient checking me in and taking me up to the my singles room on the 2nd floor. The hotel is built inside a Heritage building that once housed one of Singapore's oldest Chinese temples from 1820s to 1994. They kept the heritage look and feel especially in the entrance. The room is quite small as I expected, but it’s very well laid out and efficient with all modern conveniences, such as coffee maker, in room safe, USB outlet and desk area. Only minor thing is the hallway does have a several parts with a few short steps up and down. Nothing difficult, but if someone has mobility challenges, they might have a bit of an issue. The bed was comfy although to save space is placed against the wall, so you only enter from one side. Took a little getting used to, but didn’t hinder my sleep. The desk and chair were quite useable to work on a laptop, and the free wifi was decent speed for most uses. AC kept the room comfortable with minimal noise. Breakfast is a la carte at a restaurant directly next door. The selection is good and quality and service very good. I location is very central particularly to the Telok Ayer MRT subway line literally across the street. Its ideal not just a walk/subway ride to everything, but also many food places located within several blocks including the Lau Pa Sat Festival Market, which is a great place to get cheap but good food. Overall I rate the hotel, service and location as excellent, and would definitely return back again.…
I stayed at Amoy hotel for 3 days. It was great experience in Singapore. Outstanding hospitality, nice fragrance, a great restaurant for breakfast, clean and enough amenities in my room. And in my case, this hotel is very close to a Singapore office of my company.
My girlfriend and I visited the hotel from 12 to 14 May for a 3D2N staycation. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff and we were served a welcome tea as we checked in. We liked the room a lot (ours was the Deluxe Room), it had an exquisite oriental design and is beautiful. From our room, we could see the shops below and people watch. We also enjoyed a history tour of the hotel (it's free!). One thing to note is that the TV is a normal one (non-smart). So if you intend to screen shows from your laptop, be prepared you will need a cable. The channels are also limited, but we still enjoyed watching the History and Crime Investigation channels. Our stay came with breakfast at The Genius Central. It is a restaurant/café that mainly serve non-meat dishes. It is a little too healthy for my personal taste but I would say the food quality and service is good. The hotel is at a prime location, so you can be assured that you can easily find food and drinks.…
Genuine place with a rich history. It is restored to an absolute comfort with friendly staff. Amoy street is located near number of hip bars and pubs that will your make your stay lively and vibrant. some other down to be point benefits: location is perfect, not too busy as it only has few rooms, kept clean and daily services.
Good location, very close the center, Marina Bay, etc., but still at a cozy, traditional place. Friendly staff. Clean facilities, well maintained. Many good restaurants and night life nearby. It can get quite loud at night as many bars and restaurants are just around the corner. Also the room was heating up a lot during the day.
Really cosy and comfortable room. The staff provided excellent service and we're very friendly and approachable. The location is also great, really close to the MRT and nearby malls. Couldn't recommend it enough :)
The location and accommodation quality makes this hotel the perfect choice to be in Singapore. I would like to have a choice to make the room dark by having better curtains or other method. (Currently there's only thin curtains that let the light go through)
