Having a total of 4 toilets (one of which is in a shower and constantly wet) all next the reception and none on the second floor where our room was, we dreaded every single walk to the loo. Other people must have thought the same, but didn't bother making their way down to the toilets, but rather used the shower... More

Singapore accommodation is rather expensive, especially for families, so we decided to try a stay here with our 2 kids - probably wouldn't do it again (no reflection on the backpacker) We arrived early and they kindly allowed us into our 4 bed dorm. The aircon worked well and the room was clean. The shower area was reasonably clean, as... More

I have been staying in i.stayinn since mid March 2016 and have been met with inflexible and ridiculous rules from the owner. The staff have more than 5 times came to me and mentioned that i will have to pay upfront to enjoy the special rate of $18. I told the staff many times that i do not have an... More

Very clean and friendly staff in a great location in Chinatown (right beside an excellent food street and market). A bit on the pricier end for a hostel but well worth the money. About 15 minute walk to the Marina area.

Stayed with bunch of friends for 3 nights and I instantly love the place. Great location, very clean, and though the room is quite small, it is comfortable (beds are also clean and comfortable, feels like home!). Cannot help but to mention how quiet the place although the hostel is at one of the very crowd/busiest area of Singapore. Because... More

My friend and I stayed there for 3 nights. And I would say, this is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. 1. Pretty good location with a 5 minute walk to Chinatown MTR station. 2. The owner is a nice and friendly guy. The staff is just amazing and extremely helpful. 3. Interior is modern. 4.... More

This hostel is fantastic. Super clean, beds are clean, toilets and showers are clean. Beds are extremely clean and comfortable. Staff are awesome, friendly and always up for a chat. I would 100% recommend this place to any backpacker wanting to stay in the heart of Singapore. iStay.inn is right in the middle of everything, in Chinatown, cheap places to... More

The hostel was decent and it's slightly more expensive than others but the location is perfect. Sleep quality was quite bad on my first night because someone adjusted the a/c settings and it was on auto. So the temperature was 30°c on dry mode. Not to mention the weather was already hot enough, the a/c just had to compete with... More

The best reason to stay at iStay.inn is for the art space. Cool mural on the patio (a very nice space to have breakfast, too!), paper art on the walls, and other "urban"-style art throughout the hostel. It also might be a good opportunity to meet other like-minded travellers. The hostel itself is all right. The beds and blankets are... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
