Stay away from this hostel. This is absolutely the worst place I've ever stayed in. The bathrooms and toilets are dirty and smell so bad. The whole place except the rooftop just felt uncomfortable. Worst of all, it's heavily infested with BEDBUGS. I had really bad bed bug bites all over my arms, legs, and neck that require a visit... More

I stayed at the Shophouse for just under a week and loved it. The beds are comfortable, the Wi-Fi is strong (and works throughout the whole place). The building has a cool, downtown retro vibe. The location is AWESOME - Arab Street has so much to offer and see and it's about a 5 minute walk to the buses and... More

Couldn't sleep due to all of the above, though the bedbugs were the most disconcerting. From reading previous reviews, this seems to have been an issue for some time. AC didn't seem to work properly and there was an overall lack of cleanliness. Large crowded dorm rooms added to the discomfort.

I really enjoy my stay here. It's very clean, affordable, easy access to everywhere. 3 minutes from Bus Stop, 7 minutes walk from Bugis MRT station and even 10 minutes walking from shopping mall. What else u want? City Centre? Take the bus, it just 15 minutes to reach all the main attraction. This hostel give you free breakfast and... More

Really enjoyed my stay here. There was a Halloween party on the roof top the night we arrived which was great as was really sociable! Breakfast was really good. Dorms were spacious, own lockers, plug socket and reading light. In a great location for Haji Lane, really quirky area, loved it!

We stayed at the shophouse for 4 nights and it was a really good experience. As a graphic designer and interested in interior design I can say that they have a great concept and made really the most out of the building. Definitely worth staying in the hostel!

I stayed for 8 nights, at only girls room. It was clean, mattress was very comfortable. Absolutely amazing location, with stunning views from rooftop! My friends stayed at more expensive hotels and in the end got jealous of me staying in a hostel like this. It was great to meet and speak with people from different countries and hear their... More

The hostel is located in a nice and central area quite close to a metro station. The breakfast is okay (toast with beanutbutter and jelly, cornflakes and coffee/tea) and the roof top area is very nice. We stayed in a 16 person dorm. It would be a good budget stay if there weren't these bites and stiches me and my... More

Hi Mainz! Thank you for taking your time to write out a review for us . As for the bed bugs, it is unfortunate that other travellers unknowingly bring them in and we are not able to detect it. However, we do take instant action by calling in the pest control professionals as soon as we know of it.(like our... More

Located at Arab Street, with many eateries and shops selling carpets, fabric, traditional costumes and other items with Middle East and South Asia flavours. Not too far from Bugis MRT. The dorms are located above a café with the reception located in the café. No lift so be prepared to carry your bags up the stairs. Security: Key card access... More

Staying in Kampong Glam

Neighborhood Profile
Kampong Glam
This traditionally Malay enclave of Singapore offers an alluring array of shops, cafes, and bars. A walk down Haji Lane offers quirky shopping, while one block over, Arab Street is a treasure trove of brightly colored fabrics, clothing, and Turkish rugs. Stop for a leisurely coffee or cocktail and watch local kids play traditional games along the lane. Also home to the Malay Heritage Center and one of Singapore’s most prominent mosques (Sultan Mosque), Kampong Glam is a must-visit for a tantalizing taste of Malay life in this city.
