The location is nice, well located on club st. which is very vibrant and full of eateries but pretty far from China Town MRT. Helpful staffs and comfy place to sleep. The only con is that all the beds are capsule-style, which, in my opinion, are hard to maintain the cleanliness inside the pod. There were few dust and hair... More

Very nice and new hostel right in the middle of Singapore (Chinatown), only a few minutes walk to the metro. The accommodation is always clean and quiet, there is a lot of space in the common are. The mattresses are comfy and its always very quiet in the dorm. I definitely would recommend to stay there when you are looking... More

I liked this spot for the location especially. Being that I had no reference point of Singapore, it was a great location that gives direct access to Chinatown and the commerce district. Plenty of things are within walking distance. I felt safe and the hostel was clean. It didn't seem like a usual hostel.

Good location: famous local eatery close by, china town close by, "central business district" (CBD) as well as night life close enough. Good place: wifi, spaciousness of room (common space), big lounging room, etc.

I stayed here in August 2015 whilst travelling around Indonesia with 2 friends and this was the first time I have ever stayed in a hostel. We stayed in the Flamenco room on the ground floor which is a female only room (I believe they have a male only room and also mixed rooms). The pods were decent, you got... More

Matchbox is a totally awesome place to stay in Singapore, if you're on a budget! It's right smack in a great lively area. Plenty to see while walking around. This was also my first time staying in a pod/capsule hotel and I absolutely loved it! So cosy! It was like your own little cave. Been back again and still did... More

I Stayed at the matchbox for 2 nights. It was just what i needed. Its right near all the food courts and the station. Staff are all very friendly and they are very hot on cleanliness. You get juice, coffee toast and cereal in the morning just to get you going but there is a fridge to put your food in.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
