Haven't managed to travel for almost two years since the pandemic started. So decided to do a staycation with the family on our own sunny shores in early Dec 21. Of the many hotels/resorts in Sentosa, we eventually settled on Equarius Hotel and I have to say that I have regretted our choice. Rather disappointed with the overall experience, and will gladly choose the other hotels the next time. I'll get started on the good points first: - we stayed in a Deluxe Room and it was relatively big. There were ample spaces for our family of four to walk around, even with the extra single bed. The bathroom is huge too, and so is the bath tub. There is a small tv screen in the bathroom though we didn't try if it works. The bathroom is separated from the main room by a glass mirror; for guests who value their privacy, fret not because it comes with a mechanical blind that can be lowered. - During the online booking, we were asked if we were celebrating any occasions. We stated that it was our wedding anniversary, and we were given a small piece of cake on the first night of our stay. That was a nice touch. - Compared to the other RWS hotels, Equarius is located slightly further away from the main areas of activities. It helps that the ferry service to the other parts of RWS was fairly frequent. On the odd occasion that we had to wait for a while, one of the staff offered to drive us on a buggy. This was much appreciated. Now onto the bad points. Sorry for the long post but quite a few things to get off my chest: - Experience at check-in was quite horrendous and kind of spoiled the start of the stay. Upon arrival, guests had to do the check-in via automated counters. It didn't work for us and it didn't as well for the many guests around us. In the end, many of us ended up approaching the two staff who were stationed there. The junior staff there wasn't able to handle many queries and had to refer us to the poor manager on duty. I get the reason why the need for automated counters, but if it comes to a point where manual intervention is required for the majority, if not all the transactions, then you have to seriously question the use of it. This is a very clear case of automation just for the sake of it - the design of the system and its efficacy was not well thought through at all. - Still on the check-in process. We were asked to specify the preferred check-in period, which is perfectly understandable given the circumstances and need to prevent over-crowding. And the fact that we had to do so gave the hotel time to plan the resources to ensure that rooms are ready at the designated periods. But after going through all the hassle at the automated counters and completing the check-in process (or so we thought), we were surprised that we still can't get our keys yet. It was after another hour's wait that we received the notification to collect the keys. And yes, this process to get the keys is via the automated counters again! - During the stay itself, the service we encountered were generally poor and inattentive. For example, when the staff dropped by our room with a cake for our anniversary, we asked for 1 more towel (only 3 towels were provided though we had indicated 4 persons during the booking), but we waited for one whole night without the towel appearing. Eventually, we just asked for it from the housekeeper doing her rounds the next morning. Again, the cake for our anniversary was a nice gesture, but we would have appreciated it more if it had come with cutleries. - On another occasion, we approached the front desk for help on the booking of slots to use the swimming pool (not surprisingly, the online booking system didn't work). The staff said he would help us to book our preferred slot and would call us to confirm the booking. Again, we waited fruitlessly for the call through the night. The next day, when we approached the front desk, we were informed that we have been booked on another slot, which wasn't our preferred choice and weren't able to go because we had other activities booked at that time. We would have understood if we were told earlier that our choice is not available, and we could have worked around the scheduling to find a feasible slot. But no, instead of calling to confirm (as the staff had indicated he would), he simply booked us on any slot assuming that we would be able to make it. - The reception/signal of the TV was not working well and the programmes were laggy at times. Tried calling the helpdesk but no one picked up despite holding the call for a period of time.

Booked a night's stay at Equarius Hotel for our honeymoon. Once Yusuff, the front desk, knew we were having our honeymoon, he upgraded us to the garden suite. We were happy with just a normal room but the upgrade was a huge surprise. The room is spacious and amazing, biggest room we have ever stayed in for staycation. Super clean due to it being sanitized. Thanks for making this honeymoon an unforgettable one!

The moment I set foot at Equarius it was clear that they were short-staffed. The staff at the check-in self-service kiosk were not well equipped with knowledge of their check-in systems. We were waiting to check in just because the staff were not sure how to handle queries properly. The room TV was the worst and had no entertaining channel selection. I would advise the room to have at least the screen sharing function where if they did not want to pay for the channels at least the guest can use the screen sharing to entertain themselves. There was no in-room dining function due to the current pandemic situation. Understandable, however avenues to order food through external means should be easier as it seems that there were restrictions for food despatch riders to come in. The whole trip got me irritated and bored. Equarius please buck up on the above listed...
