I spent 3D2N at this place. Simple basic room with a nice view of the mountains. Wifi available.
Randy is a great host who will give suggestions to what areas you can trek and visit. If you are keen on taking it up, he will make the arrangement and discuss the price with you.
Very helpful and available. Even though check out time is early, he still lets you place your bags in his home and lets you stay around in the living area to wait for your night bus out to manila and charge your smart gadgets.

Randys inn was the best place to stay. Simple and lovely. Hot water, cheap breakfast and Randy the host was just fantastic. If you need any advice of where to go, what to do etc Randy had all the answers. We spent one of the evenings chatting with him for a good couple of hours and he is a really lovely guy. If you can you must stay at Randys. You won't regret it!!!

A month before my trip, I e-mailed them to book a room, they replied after a day saying (in a humbling way) that their "rooms are simple and ordinary", I answered that it's ok, I just need a room to stay in Banaue and after all "your hospitality is famous online". So I ask if they have a room available and if I can book it right away. Another day has passed before they replied asking where I am from (are you European sir?), I said I'm a Filipino. Right there and then they answered immediately that they have no rooms available.
It would have been really good had they said right away that they do not have room available (especially on their first email) without asking me of my nationality. That email exchange made me feel that they are discriminating their fellow Filipinos.

Response from Randy A, inn keeper at Randy's Brookside Inn
Responded Feb 27, 2016
Hello Sir, Brookside inn has been in business for years and anybody is welcome. More so to my fellow Filipinos. It is unfortunate that with just a limited number of rooms( which are easily booked), we cannot accommodate all guests who want to stay with us, much as we want to. Whatever transpired before, please accept my sincere apologies... God bless...

I really dont get all the good reviews! The owner was rude from the moment we arived. He charges extra for brakfast and coffee without mentioning it. The rooms are just ok,without any hot or even warm water. We got much more for the same price elsewhere in town

We don’t understand the fuss about this place. It is very minimalist, we were prepared for that, but it is VERY NOISY as it is right by the Main Street and it’s extremely thin wooden walls. You can hear the motorbikes, cars, dogs, and so on, as if they were in your room. The matress is very thin too. The shower / toilets are very ancient and no effort is made to make them more usable. Randy is nice but he is a business man, trying to sell you transport and tours not at the best price. He tried to sell us a 5000 pesos to sagada, although they are public buses going there for 150 pesos...
We stayed in places during the trek, and after in the Philippines that were much better than this, less expensive with breakfast included...

Response from Randy A, Inn Keeper at Randy's Brookside Inn
Responded Dec 22, 2018
Hello maam, Greetings. Thanks for the review. I was going over our guests registration book to check if there was a name registered in the name of the reviewer, but I could not see any. Perhaps a pen name was use in writing the review. As most of our guests who posted their reviews before, i could recognise them, throught their names. Anyway, for all the the short comings and short falls, I'm so sorry maam. For all our guests booking online, through email, through SMS, through calls, we usually write or inform them that our accommodation is basic and simple, we always emphasize that our accommodation is basic and simple, shared bathroom. Breakfast not included. Our accommodation is 500 pesos per room good for 2 persons, so it's like 250 pesos per person, shared bathroom, which is the normal price in town. Our breakfast is 80 pesos only for 1 breakfast. In the villages in Banaue, Cambulo and Batad, where you go trekking, as far as i know, the accommodation is 300 pesos per person, shared bathroom. Breakfast not included. For our toilet and bathroom, our toilet bowl and lavatory is the same as what they are selling at present in most of the hardware stores and other stores in Manila. Even in other guests houses in town, we have more or less the same. And the same is true with the shower, other guests houses in town has the same as well. We have simple only, I'm sorry maam. For the animals etc mentioned, I'm sorry we are in the country side, in the Philippines which is a third world country. For the transportation going to Sagada. The earliest regular transportation going from Banaue to Sagada is the CODA bus lines, which passes through Banaue as early as 4am onwards, flexible time, meaning it might come early or later. The next schedule is the public van which goes between 8am and 9am. But sometimes this van does not push through if there are few passengers, like 5 passengers and below. So they have to wait some time until the van is full. Banaue to Sagada is 300 pesos. The next regular public transportation is the flexible bus that passes by Banaue between 1030am to 1 pm. This bus comes from a 5 hours or more drive from Tabuk, Kalinga or Santiago city in Isabela. And the flexible bus goes only until BONTOC. From BONTOC you have to switch jeepney to go to Sagada. Public transportation fare from BANAUE to SAGADA is 300 pesos. Public transportation fare from BANAUE to BONTOC is 150 pesos. This public transportation prices is as far as i Know. If the guests is asking for a transportation to Sagada in the late afternoon maybe around 4pm onwards, going from Banaue to Sagada in the late afternoon at around 4pm onwards, as far as i know there are no more public transportation leaving Banaue to Sagada during that time. If there are, then it will be by luck. So if guests is asking and really want to go to Sagada in the late afternoon, ( especially perhaps after the trek, as trek usually finish late in the afternoon, the earliest is 3 pm) the only remedy is to take a private transportation, which is 5000 pesos. and i have to make it clear that this 5000 pesos for a private car is not our price, it is the STANDARD price set by the Banaue tourism office. And this is optional, you may take the private car or not. Usually treks finish late in the afternoon, the earliest is around 3pm in the afternoon, this is asfar as i know. If the guests finish their trek around 12 noon to 1pm, you can still catch up with the flexible bus going to BONTOC, BANAUE TO Bontoc is 150 pesos. Then BONTOC to SAGADA is 45 pesos. As i said, the guests are Lucky if they are still able to catch up with a public transportation from Banaue to Bontoc after their trek late in the afternoon, as there are no regular public transportation after 1 pm. Perhaps, i was misquoted by the guest, maybe we did not understand each other, or i might have been short in my explanation to the guests. I'm sorry maam, i am just human. Again I'm so sorry maam. Wishing you and everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Cheers.

Our group of 11 had a very comfortable stay. The basic accommodations were very clean plus the convenience of breakfast for a small fee. Randy was the best. He honor's his old man that started the inn - was their family home. The service was outstanding that started with numerous email exchange prior to our visit with Randy to work out details of our stay. Having his "boys" meet us at the bus station without requesting this was most convenient.
Genesis and his father the driver of the Jeepney were accommodating with our needs. Upon our arrival, we pre-ordered our breakfast at a restaurant in Banaue (menus brought to us in the Jeepney), stopped by the inn to meet Randy and drop off our bags. Clean up after our overnight bus trip from Manila. We reviewed Randy's suggestions for our day's travel. Returned to the restaurant to our ready breakfast. Then left for Sagada for the day. Even rode on the Jeepney for part of the trip.
That night back at the inn we met our Batad rice terraces guide for the next day, Vincent. Vincent stayed the night too in the inn and we ate breakfast at the inn before early departure to Batad. We decided to do a 2-hour trek through the terraces that turned out to be 3 hours because of enjoying the sights - taking photos. We had our lunch pre-ordered at Rita's restaurant that was waiting for us upon our return at top of the rice terraces. Two in our group stayed behind at Rita's restaurant since could not trek. Nice look out over the terraces. Our Batad trek was the best part of our trip to the Philippines. Other places we went on our trip include El Nido, Cebu, Bohol and Baguio.
Randy was further accommodating that upon our return that late afternoon from our Batad trek that we could shower even though we were not staying the night. Then off to dinner and afterwards to the bus station for our overnight bus back to Manila - Genesis and his father taking care of us until the end dropping us off at the bus station.
Great value for the adventures and people we met.

Randy was the perfect host! He arranged for all our trips everyday.. A walk to the town overlooks, the hike to the Batad rice terraces with Vicente our tour guide and Peter waiting for us, and the sweet hiking plus birding experience to Poitan village! The 3 day stay was short but sweet! We felt like family! Busy as he was everyday, he spend time with each traveler's wants and needs to be able to see most of Banaue..He also arranged our trip to Baguio.. Totally will recommend Brookside Inn.. Randy is the most true and sincere host we have met! The room is comfortable enough for two and you can't beat the price!

As the title says: Just amazing to receive such a nice hospitality and support up at that wonderful place :-) I wanted to stay at randy's guesthouse for one night but I did the mistake to book a flight to Tuguegarao instead of to Manila. Randy made me understand that arriving from Manila is much easier and even so I couldn't stay anymore for overnight (because I run out of time) he kept helping me to explore Banaue+Batad! After my arrival with the bus I was astonished: He even organized to pick me up from the bus station! I could leave my bag at his place, had a coffee and he organized the best daytrip through Banaue+Batad for me on that day! Best tips and best price and of course BEST guide I could get: Renny his nephew took me for the whole day to Batad and Banaue - thanks for that amazing day!! I would always repeat it like this :-) Next time I will definitely stay overnight!! THANK YOU Randy & Renny !!

Randy is great as you know from the other reviews so I will focus on the accommodation. It is very basic. You have a bed and one other piece of furniture in your room either a table or chair. There are no plug sockets in your room. The place is clean as Randy himself is always cleaning it. For the price you can't complain much, however the negative is the shower. It was never hot. The closest we got was luke warm, and as it's cold at night in Banaue a cold shower is not a pleasant experience. There was nowhere to put your toiletries (a shelf would help) in the shower. There is no soap in the sink either, or a bin in your room.

09175772010 that is their active number. i suggest you contact them ahead so Randy can have his staff pick you up the moment you arrive at the drop off point of the bus. 250 per head per night. they have hot shower and clean beds. but you have to bring your own towel and toiletries. some locals will try to offer you this and that but tell them you are going to Randy's brookside inn so they would stop being persistent.
