A small yet very homely guest house in yogyakartha.it is home away from home always felt been home.all staff including jack very friendly did everything possible to make our stay memorable one.I have been to wayang 3 times.if i go again to Indonesia i'll definitely go there.
Simple & cozy homestay, located in residential area. A family run convenience store opposite this homestay. The staff is friendly and gave us alot information. We stayed 3 nights with 3 different indonesia’s style delicious breakfast. Free drinking water, tea & coffee provided 24 hours. Parking lot is available if you rent a car/motorbike. (Air-con in our room need to service) ;)
Five days went by too fast for my stay there. With less than 10 rooms (solo, family, or group travelers) the Wayang Homestay stays true to its nature of providing a homely corner in this part of Yogyakarta, which makes it feel like a cross between a friend's home and a transient house. I liked how the property is not as expansive as the intimate setting is quite peaceful, as it is situated in a residential area, a couple of blocks away from the main street and the city park, among other busier areas. I loved that they have bicycles that are free to use. I took their bikes for a run a couple of times around the area and took it once to the art institute. Rita and Jack are two of the staff who provided informative directions about places to visit in the countryside (in between our runs at the nearby ISI-Yogyakarta), lively conversations during our downtime, and to highlight, the scrumptious breakfast prepared each day. Simple, but well put together. One may choose to have their rooms cleaned depending on their preference, and while away a few minutes, even an hour with free-flowing coffee and water in the common area downstairs in the Indonesian summer. Aside from all the positive details on their homestay, perhaps the wifi can be improved upon as the connection for those who are staying upstairs is weak. In addition, when you try to connect through your laptop, it does not respond at all. It happened to my roommate as well, but it works relatively fine on your smartphone.I would most likely return to this homestay when I visit Yogyakarta once more. Thank you!…
We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfasts were to die for - delicious Indonesian food. We were so starved for more authentic flavors after Bali, that this was a great change of pace. The owners were always smiling and happy. The house is cute and they provide great recommendations. The area is very local, so probsbly not everyone's cup of tea. The rooms are very basic, but the hospitality makes up for it!
Was set up with a driver who picked me up at the airport and because the airline lost my bag had to drive me back to the airport to pick it up later on after I was able to check in and shower. The check in was easy and Julie and Jack made me feel welcome. They helped set up tour for me to ruins and each morning Jack would have a different breakfast made which was always really good. The room was simple but clean and the ac with a fan helped me to settle into the hotter weather then I am used to. It was a great place to stay and great price. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting Yogyakarta.
