Phoenix Hotel used to be my favorite hotel in Yogya, but my last experience staying there has really disappointed me. I felt that the hotel management has changed and it is no longer customer oriented anymore. I am a Platinum member of Accor and everywhere I stay in Accor hotel, I will get a room upgrade usually, including in Phoenix... More

After a wonderful 3 day stay at the Amata resort in Borobudor, we stayed at this historic hotel for our anniversary in October. For the check in we were brought into a living room area which was totally authentically preserved. It was like stepping back into another era, when Indonesia was still a colony of the Netherlands. The girl who... More

Am writing this review while waiting to check out. Stayed here for 5 nights from 26th November to 1st December. 30 mins Limo ride from airport to hotel. Upon arrival, was warmly received by the bell team and luggage taken care of swiftly. Checked in immediately by Mr Hanif. He was a very smily and friendly man. Given a room... More

Loved my two night stay. The room was good, breakfast selection was nice, and the hotel is very peaceful. My only complaint is the wifi was very slow one night, but it was okay at other times. I hope to stay here again in the future!

We were surprised that it is so quiet and peaceful inside the hotel despite it being approximately 20 minutes from the airport. The colonial style of this hotel is beautiful and the room was spacious and comfortable. We had to leave the hotel at 3am for a sunrise activity and the hotel gave us a wakeup call and to-go breakfast... More

Having only one night in Yogyakarta after a day spent visiting Prambanan and surrounding smaller temples, we wanted to be in the central part of the city and this hotel was a perfect choice for catching an early morning train back to Jakarta. It has colonial Indonesia architectural beauty and charm with walls adorned with local art and antiques; photography,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This legenderay hotel was initially built as private estate in 1918. Through the ensuing decades, the property changed hands a number of times, until a Dutch caretaker turned it into Pensioner Hotel. The Phoenix name was deliberately chosen by the last proprietor who hoped that it would remain intact forever, believing in the ancient myth of The Phoenix, the sacred fire bird symbolizing regeneration throughout eternity. The Phoenix Hotel is elegantly situated in down town Yogyakarta, the cradle of Javanese civilization. The legendary Malioboro Street is just nearby, while the world herigate Borobudur and Prambanan temples are only an hour drive. Yogyakarta's cultural heritage and picturesque settings emit a distinctive charm that seldom fails its visitors. The 144 beautifully appointed rooms are reflecting the ambiance of bygone era wrapped in modern comfort facilities, enabling its occupant to celebrate a glorious past without losing the beauty of contemporary living. ... more   less
