I only had a short weekend stay here but that was enough to make it a truly memorable one and I can’t recommend the hotel highly enough. Ahead of my stay I had some superb dialogue over email with the hotel where they also arranged transport from the airport. This was a seamless experience and the driver gave a good insight to the city along the way. There’s a full security check when you arrive at the hotel but that’s certainly reassuring. The staff at the door were friendly and welcoming but it was a shame that no guidance was offered to the reception area, since it isn’t obvious when you immediately walk in. Despite arriving quite late into the evening there were plenty of staff working and the welcome was great. Checking in was a pleasant experience sat at the desks and didn’t take long, with a member of staff taking care of luggage and showing me to the Executive room which was on the first floor. All of the communal areas and corridors were wonderful, with interesting pictures on the walls and a real homely and traditional feel, as well as being spotlessly clean. The first impressions of the room were equally as impressive and kept up the homely decor. The door to the room was nothing like a normal hotel room door, really embracing the promised colonial style and revealed a spacious lobby / sitting area complete with sofa, coffee table, desk and large TV. This was a really pleasant area and would ensure a long stay would remain very comfortable. Further into the room was a well-stocked min bar along with coffee machine and sizeable wardrobe, with plenty of hangers and digital safe, slippers and gowns, plus ironing facilities. Annoyingly there was no bottle opener for drinks in the fridge though. The main bedroom area was really cosy. It wasn’t overly large but that wasn’t a problem with the extra living area although there was an armchair, good sized TV, bedside table at both sides of the bed complete with electric sockets and really nice lighting. These lights were controlled from one side of the bed and had reading options, night lights, full brightness etc, all which continued to make the room really comfortable. The bed was really large and superb plus there was absolutely no noise either from the corridors, adjacent rooms or outside. Air-conditioning worked really well without being overly noisy. The bathroom was separated from the main bedroom with floor to ceiling glass, with manual blinds for privacy if needed. Double sinks, large mirror and all the accessories you could desire were present. Unfortunately there was no bath but the walk in shower was large with good heat from the rainforest head and nice plentiful towels. A ceiling speaker continued the TV audio in the room but, as is common with such facilities, it wasn’t loud enough to be useable. Housekeeping was superb - I never heard or saw anyone in the corridors but they were clearly paying close attention to the ‘do not disturb’ sign and, even when displayed until late in the afternoon, they returned proactively and did a thorough job. Bottled water was always restocked and the coffee and mini bar remained replenished. One of the true gems in the hotel is the swimming pool and bar, both on the top floor. The infinity style pool isn’t overly large but is a decent enough size for the scale of the hotel and there’s some nice seating surrounding. The open roof also gives a good vibe and atmosphere. Climb the stairs one level further onto the roof though and the bar’s seating is wonderful, with brilliant views over the city from the raised stools and more comfortable sofa style seating available at the other end. Lively music is piped throughout and the staff are both attentive and super friendly. This is the perfect spot to enjoy sunset and the city’s night lights with the uninterrupted 360-degree view. Food is available throughout the area and always presented well. The Nasi Goreng dishes were particularly enjoyable and I’d highly recommend - trusting the ‘chef’s special’ icons isn’t a mistake here! Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and I can’t imagine picking any other hotel on a future visit to the city. The room was wonderful, the staff are super friendly and happy to engage in nice conversation and the location worked really well. The whole property was spotlessly clean and traditional in feel and I can’t wait to return.

Lovely hotel in Jakarta.we booked it for its colonial style and weren’t disappointed in that. Lovely room/ suite with sitting room. Good breakfast. Swimming pool was a bit tatty but welcome after the heat of the day. Bars both allowed smoking which meant we didn’t stay in them nor eat in the restaurants as it was very pervasive- hence the four star review. Eye watering lay expensive alcohol. Fantastic and attentive staff. Lots of restaurants nearby

One day before my birthday, me and my wife were decided to have staycation in this hotel. As usual I parked my car in the basement. Then in the middle of the night rain pouring hard for few hours. Tomorrow morning we had breakfast and we saw hotel staffs busy sucking water with water pump and we saw few fire fighter trucks around. Everyone looks as if nothing serious happened. Then I got back to my room, I saw from the window few fire fighter trucks around the hotel. Why they still pumping the water? Hmm I’ve got suspicious. How about my car down there? I went to check my car in the basement. The lift can’t be use and then I asked the concierge. Then he took me to the basement. From a far away I saw waterline above my car’s tyre. I opened my car and water all over the floor. I can’t described my feeling that day. How come this accident could happened in this hotel? During 1 Jan 2020 when all Jakarta was flooded because of more than 24 hours rain I was stay in this hotel. The basement was dry and safe. Rain only for few hours. The hotel neighborhood were dry but the basement filled with the water. So it was no one guarded the basement and no one warned the car owner mostly are their customers. Outside I saw many cars also damaged because it was soaked in the basement. The hotel management can avoid further damage because of water pump failure or water drainage failure. If the hotel pay attention or have someone guarding the basement and warned the customers right away. The hotel was committed to pay all the cost. My car already fixed now still in auto repair shop waiting to be paid by the hotel. But the hotel bureaucracy was so slow. Me as a victim once again have to suffered. I can’t go anywhere with my family until my car repair cost being paid. Moral of the story is be careful if you have a car and planning to stay in this hotel. I don’t know if there is anything else bad happen they will warn you? It was really big surprised for my birthday from The Hermitage. I just want to share the truth.

Jakarta can feel like the mega city it is - crowded and hectic. The Hermitage is a great refuge from the city hustle. The staff really makes this hotel stand out. Too many great individuals to credit them all; Amri got our stay off to a memorable start. He assisted with arranging a city tour and helping us settle in to our very comfortable oversized room Some other guest reviews have been negative about the Hermitage’s food. Our experience was the opposite. Breakfasts were super good. The Hermitage was a perfect hotel for our stay; and very affordable too.
