The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta is lauded for its service, with guests consistently applauding the staff's exceptional hospitality. While some travelers suggest that the bathrooms could benefit from refurbishment, they generally regard the hotel as offering good value, particularly noting the cleanliness of the rooms and facilities.
The spacious and comfortable rooms, along with the hotel's blend of modern and traditional ambiance and serene surroundings, contribute to its appeal. Although the location's accessibility receives mixed feedback, the amenities, including the gym and food, are frequently praised.

First off, we were not excited to have to spend 7 nights in a locked up in a quarantine hotel with 3 young, energetic kids. But that was what the government said was required to enter back in for our work. We did a lot of research and found several options that had an apartment style hotel room that gave us a little space to spread out, the Sultan Hotel being one of them.
The hotel is an older hotel in need of an update. The room is certainly dated. But the good side of being an older hotel is that the rooms are not designed to be as compact as modern hotels. We stayed in the 2-bedroom Lanais Room. It was very spacious with not only 2 bedrooms, but also a large sitting area, dining room table for 6, and a kitchen area (microwave, refrigerator, stove, water dispenser, sink, dishes and a few pans). The room also came with 2 balconies that were perfect for getting outside in fresh air even though we were locked up for quarantine. The spacious layout of the room exceeded our expectations.
The staff was absolutely great! We had heard other people’s quarantine experiences, many of which complained about lack of responsiveness of staff. We used Whatsapp to communicate with the staff and I cannot think of one thing we requested that was not met. From swapping out towels, requesting more water, changing our preselected food choices, etc. they were responsive to all of our requests.
I did not have high expectations as I have never found hotel food that I loved, but the food at the Sultan was average to above average. Adults had a choice each meal for an Asian or Western Choice. The food first off was delivered hot. This is not the same from all quarantine hotel experiences. We even had hot french fries with several of our meals which is hard to do. The kids had a special kids menu that delivered more reasonable dishes for kids. We still brought lots of snacks to fill in the gaps of picky kid eating and using food to help pass the time. I would highly recommend bringing snacks.
The laundry service was also appreciated as we each got 5 pieces of laundry done each day. It helped with not having a massive pile of dirty laundry after completing quarantine. We did lose 1 item during the week, so just something to keep an eye on.
Regarding the PCR tests, our first one was done at the airport and our second was conducted in our hotel room. My only gripe with this process was that no one sent us the results from our second PCR test. We had an early morning flight and this caused a little stress as we didn’t know our results until after I sent a message to hotel staff in the middle of the night to verify the results. Again, the staff promptly responded with the results, but I think someone should have sent us a message when the results came in.
Overall, we would recommend the Sultan for family travelers. The spacious layout, friendly staff and reasonable food were sufficient for our family.

Old hotel but still great. They have 2 large swimming pool (hotel & residence) with long operation time (6 am-9 pm), so we can avoid the crowd - which is important in this covid year. Our room is also large, with bathtub in the bathroom as 5 star hotel normally do, they give free minibar in the room: 3 can drinks.
The hotel and the residence complex are huge, you can get lost in this outdoor area or even in the hotel area. Lots of tennis court too. Although this hotel is great for business with many function rooms, we still recommend Sultan for staycation in this pandemic time.

First time I did an urban staycation while in the new normal period of time. They managed the healthy and safety protocol in everywhere. First temperature check at the main front door and when checking in we could do it with minimum physical interaction on the concierge desk. First there were plexiglasses to separate the guests and the concierge and the process went smoothly after some quick registration to your ID and scanning card key. The staff were all helpful and wore mask and face shield during this pandemic to make sure implementing the healthy protocols.
There's hand sanitizer in every corner of the hotel esp near the elevator. When it's time to stepping in to our room, we're amazed by the very personal gestures by putting colored balloons on the bed. It was really nice and made us fill with happiness esp when you do staycation with kids.
The room is very spacious, so neat, with contemporary design and traditional vibes. Bed was very comforting to lay on, air conditioner worked perfectly cool and the bathroom equipped with bathtub to dip and relax.
The view from our room was magnificent, it fronts the ever busy roads in Jakarta which are Semanggi, Sudirman, adn Gatot Subroto, not to mention the location is very strategic right in the heart of Jakarta.
For the next morning, we had breakfast at Lagoon Cafe, very unfortunate they cannot do buffet style like they used to be because of the pandemic so we ordered the breakfast from the menu. Both Indonesian and American style of breakfast and it came to fruition. Without the buffet spread, we were still delighted by the portion and they tasted so good too, don't underestimate them. Happy tummy indeed!

Stayed in The Sultan Residence, Tower 2 in a 2BR apartment. The tower and its apartments are in dire need of upgrade or renovation. They have seen the better times. Inside the apartment, cleanliness is an issue and could have been much better.
One positive thing is how spacious the apartment is. Ours has direct view to GBK Stadium. Each room has a small balcony and window can be opened. Kitchen is small and is equipped with refrigerator, stove and dishwasher. No microwave though.
Internet is fast, AC is working well.
Staff is good at service.

There are a lot of good hotels in Jakarta, and once upon a time this would be one of them. Everything feels like it's 15 years out of date, and needs money spent on it. It's not bad, but it is really not good. Breakfast for example spills down the corridor and the food is warm, but not hot. The bar lacks all atmosphere, and is massively over-staffed with bands too loud for the amount of people listening. It's right next to the JCC, and there are a couple of modern Malls nearby, so the location isn't bad... but the taxi drivers never know which of the many entrances to take you in, so that can feel like a voyage of adventure.
That all said, it's not expensive, bedrooms are clean and is generally ok.

My best friend booked The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta for our staycation. Incidentally that day, he was having a birthday.
Because I wanted to secretly surprise him, I contacted the FO, her name was Ms. Nurul. She really helped me in coordinating the plan to give this surprise. This includes allowing me to send gifts and birthday cakes using a courier service before we check in. The team was very helpful and friendly. Even the room was helped with decoration and gifts and cakes were immediately placed in the room as my request.
Upon check in, we were also given an upgrade to the Grand Deluxe Room. Our room was very spacious, clean, the bathroom was very comfortable and the room view was extraordinary (our room faced GBK, so both day and night the view of GBK was very beautiful with the lights).
We thanks also for the drinks and fruit that were given to us. I really appreciate the services.
The hotel strongly implements health protocols. Included at breakfast we have to implement sit distancing. Swimming pool and other facilities are also monitored so that health protocols are implemented even when we are outdoors.
I highly recommend staying at The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta. For easy access, complete and maintained facilities, you will get the comfort of staying with your family, partners and friends.

I stayed at The Sultan Hotel for my mandatory 7 day quarantine and found it to be very easy and relaxing with great views from my room of the city, Senayan Sport Complex and the swimming pool which was a bit of a bugger as couldn't go out for a swim. Having one of the best views made the time fly by and I was able to open a window and get some Jakarta fresh air. Also I noticed they have rooms with balconies which would be great for those who smoke or want to get some 🌞.
The staff where very polite and helpful and arranged my trip to the airport on my final day. The location is also very convenient for those that are not quarantining as shopping malls close by among other attractions. Will be coming back for sure but next time not for quarantine.

We booked the Lanais room at the Sultan hotel.
And we didn’t regret. The room is very specious en good for the whole family (2 adults and 2 children). The hotelroom is very vintage, so it’s not very modern. Each room had their own bathroom. We had 3 toilets, a kitchen, a very own workspace, 3 balconies and a huge diner room. And most importantly, the wifi was fast enough for the 4 of us. We could stream netflix/youtube or play games online simultaneously. The roomservice was also good and the people were also very polite.
And we had airco in each bedroom and living room.
We had lots of water bottles and a water dispenser with 2 gallons, so we had plenty of water.
And the food part? There is much variety. You have asian- and western food. We had potatoes, fries, pasta, macaroni, pizza’s… a lot of choices! I’m a big man and I thought the portion were small, but I was wrong. It was more than enough. Especially if you stay for 8 days in quarantine. Anyway, the food was nice, especially asian food. Western food was not bad but it was ok. Overall I would give the food 4/5.

As usual when there is a business trip in Jakarta, The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta is always the choice to stay, due to its strategic location, clean and spacious rooms, and support for work activities, whether done in a hotel room or when there is a business meeting in the hotel lounge, or special meeting rooms at the hotel. Waiters, and friendly staff, especially receptionist Mrs. Naziroh who always serves deftly, friendly and always explains the facilities that can be enjoyed at The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta.

The Sultan Hotel & Residence is quite a large complex and yet it has a very cosy and welcoming feel. Outside looks a little austere due to the design and construction of the period when first built but is in a nice setting with lots of green spaces and open areas. Inside also has large open spaces and the reception and lounge areas are generously spacious too. There are many amenities to suit all tastes for fitness or relaxation and a good choice of restaurants for formal or informal dining. The bedrooms are showing signs of age but still very comfortable and the whole premises are kept very clean.
The staff are outstanding and so welcoming and hospitable, maybe this is just a regular Indonesian trait as everyone always has a smile and a chat.
This location is especially good if attending any events at the nearby JCC (conference & exhibition centre) or the various sporting venues.
Additionally, within a short walk there are two shopping centres, Senayan City & Pacific Place, which are both modern, clean and worth a visit if you like designer shopping.
