To be clear, this rating is based on English speakers looking for a homestay experience. If you are simply looking for a budget bed or if you speak Tibetan, this could still be the perfect place for you. I wanted to be sure to review this hotel here because there were a number of things I read on TripAdvisor that... More

Rama Karpo Hotel is a normal Tibetan-styled place where a foreign traveler love it's unique hospitality. As a tour operator, i used this Tibetan hotel for my clients since 2009 and i personally received nice feedbacks. I have lists of points why that Rama Karpo Hotel is recommended the most: 1. Location is the center of the old town in... More

I only ate here so I'm reviewing the restaurant that is part of the hotel and not the hotel itself. After getting into Lhasa and getting conned by a cab driver who didn't take the highway (much higher meter fare) I came here for lunch because it was recommended by my own hotel but realized i didn't have enough Yuan... Thank you very much for sharing your experience on eating the food here. For the upcoming 2016 tour season, we are going to improve our authentic Tibetan food such as Tibetan dumplings, beef-pancake and Tibetan hot pot and provide good price. Thanks for recommendation! Good location, friendly staff. The restaurant had a broad menu and similar to other restaurants, but the Momos here are the best in Tibet (per my limited tasting in several places). The restaurant was a mix of tourists, locals and even monks; so that was cool. Probably best to use your own bath towel as the one they provide leaves... More

Spent 5 nights there and it was part of a package so not sure how much was the room. It was just OK, the room was clean when we arrived but then got only cleaned only once after and only because we requested it. We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall it is a fairly OK place to short term stay. The rooms are clean, basic with no amenities. The beds were quite hard too. Mine was practically dented through over use (I did stay in another room at one point and the bed was slightly better). Location-wise it is near the centre of... More
