This is a really great hotel. It felt colonial in terms of style; lots of wood and elegance. The staff were amazing. I wanted to see the nearby Presidential Palace but due to COVID there were strange regulations in place...so one of the front desk staff (I forget his name) escorted me to the palace and helped me buy the tickets! Bonvoy Platinum and above benefit from a wonderful complimentary snacks/drinks in one of their lounges each afternoon! Highly recommended!!
The first time to visit Nanjing, chose Grand Mansion A luxury collection hotel, really did not let me down! I was impressed by Add's Duck Blood Fan Soup. It's a great experience.I will back with my family.
Nice hotel - loved the decoration and atmosphere. Service good - rooms really nice with good design and well cared. We arrived late and had nice drinks, good bar food and service. Breakfast was really cool - well prepared, good variety. Location super. Will come back.
Prior to my arrival in Nanjing, I made a reservation at this hotel through the Marriott-Envoy website. I specifically requested and paid for an EARLY check-in at 12 noon. I was flying in to Shanghai from Los Angeles, and then taking a high speed train to Nanjing. I based my flight time and my train arrival time on the ability to check in at 12 noon. Arrived at the hotel at 11:59a and checked in at the front desk with a woman named Yoyo. She is the front office manager, and spoke English very well. As a matter of fact, Yoyo was the best part of my stay in this hotel. OK, so there I am, ready to check in, but my room (suite) not available! Arggh! So I asked if there was a room that was bigger and available, but none available. There was a smaller room available, so Yoyo gave me that room, and told me to come back at 4p so I could move into my reserved suite. Everyone knows that it's a real pain in the butt to check into a room, open suitcases, and then a few hours later check out of a room, and move all the stuff into another room, just one of the reasons why I reserved and paid for an early arrival and check-in. Ok, so go to the new smaller room, and guess what? It was pretty big, pretty nice, so I decided that I would just stay in that room. Back downstairs to tell Yoyo that the temp room would be fine. She said I then had to cancel the reservation for the big room and then re-reserve the smaller room. PROBLEM, can't cancel reservations after 12 noon without having to pay for that reservation. She said it would be a big problem to cancel and re-reserve. I don't know why they couldn't just give me back the difference in price on my credit card ? ? Ok, so now go out all day, come back to hotel, move from one room into my reserved room, and it's time to shower and shave. Shower area was full of black mold (this is in a suite!), and the bathroom doors did not close properly. I'm not finished yet. . . . . So after shower, I head to the Happy Hour room for a cocktail with my Chinese friend. Everything looks nice, but the only booze I drink is the only booze that is NOT in the Happy Hour room - Vodka. So after finding no vodka in the room, a happy hour attendant girl hands me a menu that has Grey Goose listed on the menu for 75rmb. (Supposed to be a "free" happy hour). I ask the attendant for a "Double Grey Goose" on the rocks. 8 minutes later (someone has to go downstairs to the lobby bar to get the vodka), the glass of vodka, and a golf ball size chunk of ice show up at our table. I cannot believe what I see in the vodka glass - almost nothing! It amounted to a capful of vodka. I tell both of the attendants that this is not a "double" size of vodka, and what do they do? Get into an argument with me in English, and my friend in Chinese as to what the proper amount of vodka is for a "double cocktail". It was unbelievable! I have never been in a 5 star hotel lounge, reserved for people who are staying in a hotel suite, get into a discussion with the staff regarding the proper amount of booze in a drink. Terrible customer service. . . these 18 year old female twinkies were telling my guest (in Chinese), "Vodka is very strong, he doesn't need to drink that much, etc., etc.," Absolutely ridiculous that a couple of teenagers are telling me what to drink and how much to drink ! ! And no I wasn't drunk, I hadn't had a drink in 2 days travel !! So here I am in a 5 star hotel - had to wait 4-5 hours for a room that I reserved and paid for an early arrival, then took a shower in a bathroom who's doors did not close properly, in a shower filled with mold, and NOW some teenager is going to tell me how big a double Grey Goose on the rocks is, and why I should be drinking it at all? Really? Does anyone think that this is 5 star service ? I will never return to this hotel, and they really need to get their act together. Thumbs down on this property, period the end.…
We stayed for 3 nights as family stay. Before we used our suite night awards to make sure room is suite. We also contacted hotel to arrange the 6th floor for us. In the middle, we had some misunderstanding with hotel side, however, we were so lucky to get help from duty manager Jade Shi, who promised our stay feel as home away from home, sound sleep spacious room and delightful arrangement for whole stay. Jade made this stay 100% satisfaction and would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends. Thank you Jade.
