Just finished up a couple of days stay at the Hilton Riverside Nanjing. All in all a very positive experience. The hotel itself is a little ways away from the action, nestled against the river and in a surprisingly quiet area for being in a major Chinese city. That said, a quick 5 minute walk can get you to a shopping / eating complex with some excellent options - my wife and I ate at 'Ultimate Food' or something like that (kind of a fusion Chinese) and it was reasonably priced and excellent. We had the sour/spicy fish and river clams, delicious. Definitely an option if you don't feel like eating at the hotel or going into town. But I liked the location. I appreciate having a retreat after a busy day exploring, and the Hilton Riverside is definitely that. I found it to be a 20-30 minute taxi ride to get into the downtown locations. The absolute highlight for me was the sleep quality. The rooms stay extremely dark, and the mattress and bedding is so comfortable I'm ordering a duck-down comforter like Hilton uses. Seriously, this was the best sleep I've gotten in years, and that alone made this a 5-star stay for me. Also very nice having a little balcony to watch the river. The staff was excellent. Despite another reviewer's experience, the English of everyone I interacted with was excellent and they were very helpful. I feel bad I didn't get more names, but I remember Sabrina from room service was helpful when I needed something. Also shout out to the concierge, who was very helpful, and there was a lady with a beautiful smile working the Flow lounge on Saturday morning who made me an excellent iced latte while I was doing work there. It wasn't a flawless experience. They had closed the pool for three days for cleaning, and it was scheduled to re-open the last day we were there and we planned for a swim, as my wife's cousin had never been in a swimming pool before, only to discover that morning that the pool would be closed an additional 4 days. Why you would need to close the swimming pool for a week during the hottest time of the year is absolutely lost on me. In China, they could have dug out and filled in another swimming pool in less time. Also, the bathroom in our room had some small flaws - the rainforest shower leaked cold water while the hot water was coming from the other showerhead, and I had a devil of a time making it stop. Also, the seal between the toilet-space and the shower was not perfect, so there was inevitably a puddle of cold water in the toilet area that needed to be cleaned up after showers. Minor complaints, but the staff I suppose should know. All in all, I feel this is an excellent option for the price if you want a relaxing stay in Nanjing.…
Very good hotel, but unfortunately the F&B service could be improved. Too long waiting times in the bar and not enough English speaking staff. Improvements here could easily increase the hotel's turnover. But basically all employees are very nice and courteous.
Excellent location, safe, amazing outdoor Jog / walk path by the River. People are nice, super clean. I like to mention that Peter Li at the restaurant area, was excellent. Peter went the extra mile to make sure all my family and I needed was available to us. Jim Hu at the front desk, was excellent take care of all of my request.
This hotel is located at the bank of the Yangtze River in Nanjing. It offers miles of walking trails along the river. Our room overlooks the river with a beautiful sunset view. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is marvelous with many choices of American and Asian food.
Modern looking hotel with room overlooking the River with balcony. Breakfast has a large choice of western and Chinese food. Freshly squeezed juices and fresh fruits. Friedly and helpful staff with some English speaking. Helped with booking train tickets to Shanghai at last minute.
