modern hotel combined with an old historical building ( Minguo ), large rooms with big bathroom, reasonable prices, good service, rich choice for breakfast, restaurant, sport-facilities, good location - everything was perfect - CAN BE RECOMMENDED !!!
The floor of the room needed a vacuum, but it was a spacious room. Decent bathroom and overall quite clean. Sign in the room read 'no smoking' but there was an ashtray provided, so I assume it meant, no smoking in the bed, which is the general rule. Very well placed hotel for shopping and there is a bank/cashpoint less than 5mins walk away. 15min walk to a few shopping malls and there is a very good H&M nearby. The breakfast was good, however there was no coffee, tea, water or juice provided. There is water free in the rooms though. Not too many frills. Decent hotel for one or two nights.
Booked a standard room which was in Old Minguo building (no elevator). Room is quite small, just ok for night rest. Hotel is well located in the city centre, walkable distance from Xuanwuhu lake/park entrance wall. Check-in was hassle free as receptionist speak English.
The luxury room is up to standard and even has a larger refrigerator. Do not expect to receive CNN, FOX or BBC. There is one station in English: Asianews. Very interesting however. The staff is always ready to help. If language problems arise, use a dictionary. The food is very good. The choice of 'Western style' is limited. Chinese food does taste well! The restaurant offers a broad range of dishes. We enjoyed the quality and the service. Again: sometimes a dictionary is handy. The business center is OK, also here staff does everything to help someone. There is a decent gym in the old building. The location is perfect. Underground is at walking distance. So are the lake, a French bakery, smaller supermarkets, shops for clothes, wine and cigarettes and banks. Busses stop in front of the hotel and staff is always ready to call a cab. Transport is rather cheap in Nanjing. This hotel is indeed a perfect starting point to visit this interesting city.…
My first experience of accommodation in China. The checkin/out process was seamless because it was done by our hosts. Rooms were large, clean and comfortable. A few challenges with language, but staff try their best for us westerners who know no Chinese. The internet was slow and patchy, and access to some sites is blocked behind the GWC. If you want a beer from the bar, be prepared for one choice, and to be asked whether you want it warm or cold. Smoking is common in China, so be prepared some smoking inside (including in the common toilets). My room had no evidence of previous smoking, but I know you may be given a smoking room.
