I’ve visited the hotel twice. 2017 and this week. The hotel is located on the main road to Aberdeen and is served by two entrances. One to the main road itself providing access to the nearby bus stops (Ideal for buses to Aberdeen, Central, Stanley) The other access is a side street which in turn provides a two/three minute walk to Wong Chuk Hang MTR. Once on the MTR you are only two quick stops to Admiralty.
Location wise, if you enjoy the hustle and bustle but not all the time, Southside is perfect as you escape it but still stay close to amenities.
30 seconds from the doors are a 7-Eleven and Starbucks. At the MTR you will find a brand new mall with a range of exciting shops and restaurants. Aberdeen is a short bus ride or 15/20 minute walk.
Importantly for me as a traveller and wanting important chill out time is access to the beaches with Repulse Bay being a pleasant one hour walk (the walk is main road then beautiful views along a walkways) or ten minute bus ride (73 or 52 from the hotel are good options and very regular)
The hotel itself relaxes you from the moment you walk through the ground floor industrial lobby where you are greeted by Radio Ovolo, an eclectic mix of classic tunes played through the public areas and two lifts.
Reception is reached by lift and shared the floor with a relaxing bar/lounge area (great views) and a well equipped gym and a great addition for travellers - a great utility room with three washing machines and dryers (includes washing detergent) which my friend and I used and was a great addition.
The only negatives are the advertising which isn’t accurate. The hotel used to provide drinks and snacks throughout the day. They now provide a small selection of snacks from the bar. NO buffet breakfast is provided. However the on site breakfasts are awesome.
Rooms have a small fridge but it isn’t a mini bar and tea and coffee together with a kettle is provided. The is no longer access to the roof top bar (except for functions)
All in all though if you want great service, awesome location, comfort and cleanliness and a great vibe, Ovolo Southside is the place for you.

Travelling as a family of 4, with 2 kids in tow, I would not normally have gone for a boutique hotel. Under unique circumstances, Southside by Ovolo was our choice of accommodation for three nights. We had two inter-connecting rooms, and the corner-most room (with perpendicular full-length glass windows) was lovely, allowing us to wake up to the unforgettable scenic view, something we cannot get in Singapore. The room is neat, clean and functional, albeit on the smaller narrow side, but since we have two adjacent rooms, I am more than happy! The hotel location is great, so near to the Wong Chuk Hang MTR station; the new Southside malls; a 7-11 and Starbucks just across the small street. As it is next to the Wong Chuk Hang Sports & Recreation ground, you can even catch a live soccer match from the comfort of your hotel room, or if you prefer working out outdoors, go for a run at the track! This location is superb if you plan to visit the Ocean Park, as it just 1 MTR stop away, and for those who prefer walking, it is manageable too, to walk from Southside by Ovolo to the Ocean Park. Big thanks to Victoria who had assisted with my accommodation booking and other arrangements!

It was a journey of ups and downs. Initially, I was placed in a standard room located on the side facing the highway, where the noise was unbearable. The constant buzz of traffic and the sound of flowing water from the ceiling pipes made it impossible to sleep, even with earplugs.
However, when I raised my concerns to the front desk, the service staff Lisa were incredibly understanding and patient. They acknowledged the inconvenience and offered to move me to a quieter room on the other side of the hotel. This room was larger and more comfortable, though it came with an additional charge of $165 per night, which I found a bit steep, especially since I discovered the bigger rooms were priced less on booking platforms.
Throughout this ordeal, the service was empathetic and the staff genuinely tried to accommodate my needs with their suggestions and actions. I felt that they truly cared about my comfort and went out of their way to address my issue.
While the initial experience was far from ideal, the responsive and caring service partially made up for the inconvenience. The hotel would benefit greatly from improved soundproofing, which could prevent such issues for future guests. Overall, it was a mixed experience where the service shone despite the initial shortcomings.

As a Bonvoy Platinum member and a long-time guest of Ovolo, I am deeply disappointed with the evident changes in their management and service standards as of March 20, 2025. My recent experience falls significantly short of their previous standards, for the following reasons:
1. The weekday rate of HKD 1,000 only includes breakfast, with all other previously standard amenities now removed 2. The signature happy hour, which I enjoyed during my numerous stays in 2022, has been discontinued 3. The room lacks basic business amenities - there isn't even a chair to work at 4. When I requested an HDMI cable to connect my laptop to the TV, I was informed that Ovolo no longer provides this basic technology accessory to guests
For comparison, the nearby Ocean Park Marriott, at approximately HKD 1,300, offers superior facilities and meaningful recognition of Bonvoy membership status. What should have been a special birthday staycation has instead become a disappointing experience, making me question my future choice of accommodation in the area

We recently stayed at Ovolo Southside Hotel for a week, and my experience was marred by a hygiene issue. On the first day, I encountered a large flying cockroach in my room, which took us 15 minutes to chase out. This incident was unsettling and disappointing, as cleanliness is a fundamental expectation in any hotel.
Although the hotel management changed our room after we reported the issue, it significantly affected our overall impression of the establishment, especially since one of us is afraid of cockroaches.
The hotel attempted to compensate with discounts or coupons for a future stay, but the trauma of the experience made it an unattractive offer. Furthermore, it's important to note that while the hotel is on sale, maintaining service quality and property upkeep should not be compromised during this transition.

We pride ourselves in our high level of cleanliness, our hotel has an ongoing Pest Control program conducted by and external company which regularly applies pest control methods to all guest rooms and public areas on a scheduled basis. Whilst not an excuse, sometimes external factors out of our control such as weather, or open guest room windows can cause unexpected side affects, however we work very hard to prevent such cases. Since this hotel has been rated as the top five hotels by the HK Quarantine Support Group, I chose Ovolo Southside for my second 21-day quarantine. It turned out to be a wise decision：bright clean room without carpet, an industrial architecture in line with the warehouse origin of the building, generous happy hours, yoga classes, playful origami and crosswords, every detail is deaigned based on user experience. The best part of the quarantine days was the delicious authentic cuisine prepared by Lyma and the kitchen team！ best kale salad in town, and best banana bread of my life！ and lots of creative vegetarian dishes！ The whole ovolo southside team, led by Damien F, provides service from the heart. The hotel‘s mission abour shiny happy people is a promise that has been kept, both for the customers and the motivated staff ！ It has been over two difficult years of pandemic, it is a daunting task for everyone to stay positive and productive. yet at Ovolo Southside, i did experience a delicious, sunny and productive 21 days without worries and feeling cherished. My appreciatipn to the fabulous team and an attentive management.

The lobby was bright and modern, and the staff at check-in were friendly and efficient. (SUZY AND JAG) My room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, with a nice city view. The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept very well during my stay.
The hotel had a nice fitness center, which I took advantage of in the evenings. There was also a business center with computers and printing available for guests.
The only minor drawback was that the breakfast buffet was a bit pricey, but the selection and quality of the food was good. Overall, I had a great experience at the Ovolo and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city for business or leisure."

Since August 2023, I’ve been frequently visiting Hong Kong for business trips and I have stayed at several hotels.
I've been looking for a place that is within my per diem budget, yet offers modern vibes, spacious, clean, and comfortable accommodation. I found that making a slight adjustment to my budget was really worth it, as I felt recharged and hassle-free during my stay last March.
I've tried some hotels in Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Aberdeen, and Tsuen Wan. Amongst those accommodations, Ovolo really stood out and made me feel at home.
Pros: Comfortable, spacious, with gym and self-laundry facilities, well-maintained spaces, and quality complimentary toiletries and bathroom supplies. Nearby bus and train stations, as well as a convenience store.
Cons: No dental hygiene set provided and a deposit of HKD500/night.
Important to know: It may appear to be out of the center at first glance on the map, but it is only one bus ride away from the center, taking about 20 minutes. It's a less crowded place, just a stone's throw away from the bustling and busy city center.
I will definitely stay here again. If Ovolo Central is offered to me at the same rate, I’ll choose that too, as I'm sure the experience will be just as great. 💛

Absolutely amazing! Ovolo has set the high standard to make quarantine stay better than other hotels staycation!
Food is absolutely delicious and has a good variety. I honestly look forward to menu every morning to see what I can order. Happy hours w alcohol you can choose from and surprise snacks
Team is sooooooo helpful and pleasant. They also all demos there such a high level of aspiration for excellence. From the concierge Venus who efficiently checked you in and smoothly set up WhatsApp comm. The uncle who helped you move luggages and very quickly and seriously clean all the places after each person. To the management who organises social zoom calls to hear feedback. To dining services who cheerfully ask you what you want to have. A very well run and managed hotel. Whole team is amazing
Room is clean and has natural light and windows you can open. Very modern tidy and clean. I feel safer than my home. Display has been thoughtfully put in humour comments. So pleasant and comfortable.
Additional zoom classes, social gathering, happy hour drinks and snacks, surprises gifts/snacks and last supper 🤣
