It's of course a hotel, nothing to be compared with a hostel, but what I got mmmm I could've gotten a hostel. I paid 1613 HKD for five days. You can see the pictures of what I got. They asked me for 500 HKD as deposit and you can also check the pictures for the penalties. Mmmmmm everything in Hong Kong is sooooo freaking expensive and if you will pay cheap this is what you get. I always do my bookings online so I go for the cheapest, because I know that if it is not the best western or Holliday inn, to mention something, it's not worth it. At least in Hong Kong and OMG Singapore hahaha. Sorry for the mess in the pictures haha.

So, as everyone else here has said, the room is very VERY small. OK, fine.

The lobby is attractive, modern, and the staff reasonably helpful and welcoming.

I emailed them twice before arrival, and both times, a response was prompt, and helpful.

Free internet PC in the lobby. I think they said they had wireless, but don't believe I got it to work. (I was not there for the internet, so no big deal).

The location is pretty good. Nothing really immediately closeby of note, but a brief walk to the subway system. As with all of Hong Kong, plenty of 7-11's nearby. The night market was walkable, although kind of a long walk.

I could not figure out how to use the heater. That's OK, it wasn't really uncomfortable. The water (hot water in the shower) was odd....something about turning it on and heating it up prior to use? LOL, I did get a decent shower though, no complaints.

I didn't experience any noise....either from the city, or the adjacent rooms. While the bed was tiny, I slept well.

So after a brief night there, off to the Holiday Inn for a much more deluxe experience. But the MK was reasonably priced, I knew all about the tiny rooms, and was treated nicely. So no real complaints, it's just more of a hostel or similar....not really a hotel.

Skip this place. The location is great, and when I entered the elegant ground floor lobby I thought I had really scored, but NOPE! The room walls are paper thin and I was kept awake by doors slamming on my floor all night, conversations in the room next door. I could even here people snoring. I am not a light sleeper. I lost an entire night of sleep staying here, not happy.

Other than that the bathroom was nice, had more floor space than my room. The room was small. No hooks, or cabinet, just small shelf space and 2 hangers. The walls are dented, chipped and scuffed, sheets had brown/yellow stains. I was happy to find a nice window and a tv.

Hotels are not cheap in Hong Kong, but if you are looking to book at this price level of hotel I think another $15 usd ($100 hkd) would ensure better hotel.

Oh and surprise, there was a $500 HKD deposit. Maybe I missed this notice, but a deposit the price of the entire night's stay seems excessive.

Nice hotel. Good location. Small but well equiped room with good wifi, water pressure and aircon. Chic design that the price is extremely worth than staying nearby hostel in old building! Hotel Lobby and lift lobby is separated. Good for me to bring guests without front desk notice.

For starters, this is not a hotel and is more like student accommodation/backpackers hostel. The website is extremely misleading and the rooms are nothing like what is advertised on their website. We were provided with a single bed and a king single for three adults. There was no space to move in the room for three people, let alone including our three large suitcases and hand luggage. The room was basic to say the least, and the staff thought it was a great joke when we complained. This place is a sham and to be avoided at all costs. So bad, in fact, that we booked and moved to superior alternative accommodation for a cheaper price.

Would not recommend this hotel under ANY circumstances, the manager should be held accountable and was conveniently unavailable and not contactable. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

On 26th august 2011 i booked 7 nights with 02 credit card , i paid 324.60 euro with this card, i have the receipt . And on the 31st august i go to check in MK Hotel Hong Kong and the female hotel reception say that i did not pay . I showed them the receipt of the 02 credit card statement and they not believe . That night i sleep outside in public garden , and in the morning go to Mongkok police station and report a complaint , the police talk with the hotel staff and they give me a room, and the following morning they phone me again and say i not pay, and they tried to throw me out. And i again went to the same police station, and report to them , the report number 11047410 and 11047330, and the police number spc47336 and spc 50996. And the police checking the statement of the credit card company and the hotel took the money already. The police talk to them again , and they give me back the room . The same day i go to Hong Kong Tourism Board and report to them, and they found out this Hotel was before " HAMPTON HOTEL ",which had a bad reputation by cheating many customers, and the Hong Kong tourist board report to the Hong Kong consumer council. And the Hong Kong consumer council they send to me via email in Chinese language, and say that i should forget making the complaint ? why the consumer council give me that advice ? is the consumer council something wrong ? or connection with the hotel ? so i report to the tourism board and assistant manageress Ms Bakky Cheng, and tell her something wrong and if she could investigate what the problem might be. ? "So i paid for my room and still had to sleep in the street, are you Happy or not, " please remember that MK Hotel is bad enough, this is not the right place to stay, so be carefull they have a lot of bad record. You can find out in the , tripadvisor.ie . This story give me a bad memory in Hong Kong , everyone must be carefull booking MK Hotel Hong Kong

Horrible experience.
The photos on the website looked fine. I've booked for 3 nights.
Once arrived there, the room and the photos were completely different! The room was so small I couldn't even open my small luggage! I had to sleep with my handbag since there wasn't enough space to put it anywhere else.
The night I checked-in I immediately booked another hotel for the other two nights. I went down to the reception to ask them to cancel my booking. They cancelled it but refused to refund anything.
I showed them the comparison website pictures / real pictures, they didn't care.
I will NEVER go there again and strongly encourage people to do the same - for this budget you can DEFINITELY find much much better!

We stayed at this hotel due to it's location, which I will say is good, but thats all it has going for it. The smallest rooms I have ever seen, The Largest forest of FUNGIS growing on the wall of the bathroom, and we had friends travelling with us also had the same problems with filth. After a full day out, we returned to find all our things had been gone thru and many items stolen. Trying to report to staff was more trouble than it's worth, first half an hour of sudden "No speak English" to Manager not available! I'd rather have slept in the street!

The room we were given did not represent what was advertised on their website. Tiny basic room no wardrobe or safe. Compact wet room with hand held shower. Strange smell in the hallway and paper thin walls. Extremely tiny and very basic rooms. Staff unhelpful and management absent and unavailable. Much better accommodation available for a similar price nearby. Definitely shop around, don't recommend, this hotel was misrepresented and the staff have a poor attitude.
