Detailed Reviews
I just finished my 7-day quarantine stay at the beginning of August and I don't feel this hotel is as bad as what have mentioned in some of the reviews below. At least the room was clean, especially the washroom, the food was acceptable, but I agreed that some of the facilities looked rather old. One thing that is praiseworthy is that the hotel staffs were generally courteous and providing prompt supports when you ask for assistances.
With $7xx Hong Kong dollar on average per night, I personally think it is a good choice for a person with relatively low budget like me.

If 5-star facilities, food and service are not at the top of your priority list, and just want to pay a reasonable price for your few-day quarantine, I truly recommend this hotel.
The room décor is old-fashioned, but still spacious and clean, and my room had a nice view of Happy Valley Racecourse. The bedding set and towels were all clean. Both of the pillow and mattress are comfortable. Bottled water is available in the room. They provide authentic Hong Kong style food, which should be good for foreign guests, and the vegetarian arrangement is also very caring. The hotel staffs are also polite and helpful.
Overall, I enjoyed the quarantine stay here by considering no need to spend much.

I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is aged and tired with front desk strangly located on 2/F in a room. I met no one when entering the ground floor with no indication of where the checkin counter is.
All others are acceptable. The room is clean, enough space, big TV on wall, bed comfy. I specially like the air con which is quiet.
I have to particularly praise the buffet breakfast. I paid extra HK$80 only each day and the breakfast is so generous and yummy! Western and eastern food. I specially love the fried noodles, not oily as others are used to be. Staff there attentive and nice too.
The location is good too, peripheral to the bustling district of Causeway Bay. Quite some decent eateries and restaurants in the vicinity. Metro 15 mins on foot away.
Given the price, there shouldn't be any complaints.

Had to cancel hotel booking as flights cancelled due to Covid. Took £416 from my credit card for no show. Phoned Hotels . com and they said it was up to Charterhouse if they waived the first night charge for 4 rooms. I phoned Charterhouse who told me it wasn't them it was Expedia who charged from a Mr Wang. Phoned agin the next day and was told the same thing so phoned Expedia again and they said it definable wasn't them. I got a fried who was local to them but they said the same. I phoned Chartehouse again and spoke to Michael who was honest and said it was Hotel Policy and they duly fined me £404.
Even worse the rate I booked the 4 rooms earlier this year had been halved due to works being carried out by workmen.
Complained on their Facebook page but they didn't bother to reply.

Been coming to this hotel since 2014 for my business trips to HK, there are some noticible scaled back items that were not offered since 2019 before covid and my return in 2023 and now 2024
--Free local mobile phone for each room guest to use is gone (since 2019)
--2023 trip, no more free breakfast, no direct internet connection in my room (safer for business), no more tea bags unless you request from room maid (front concierge told me they are not even availalbe) front lobby check in/out counter is gone and removed
--2024 ( I am in my room right now writing this), all the things in 2023 missing are the same PLUS, no more tissue paper in the bathroom, only toilet paper, no face towel (now replace by a packaged throw away type thin material), no hand towel, only bath towels now and no bath mat to put on the floor when you get our of the shower, all these extras are gone!, this is a bit over the top for budget tightning measures ....
Positives:
--Staffs are still friendly and helpful (except I have a bad encounter with an older Asian concierge yesterday when I try to check in at 1pm, hope it is an isolated incedent but I noticed how this guy behavior to others in 2023 so... don't think he should work here
--Room still clean, bed sheets and pilllow cases are nice and in good conditions
Just wish they put back those extras for the room, especially this is a business floor and they charge a hefty surcharge when it is a big conference at their convention center which I am here now for (every year really)

I had to undergo quarantine in a designated hotel so I booked this hotel. First they gave me a terrible room not even worthy of a refugee camp, with a plastic chair, a foldable table, no gel in the shower, 2 giant beds takng all the space for no reason, I am on my own. Anyway, I complained and the next day they changed my room to a normal room. The first one seemed to simply be them scamming guests. They completely forgot that we are guests and paying good money for the room, even if for quarantine. Then according to the law, after testing negative you can leave on Day 3 in the morning. I agreed a checkout time of 11:30am and all was good. On the day I called reception to confirm the checkout, having received all my negative tests confirmations. The guy tells me that checkout will be at 3pm now. Seems like a small thing but in reality if checkout is after noon you get charged an extra day. Another scam to get an extra day, as the government website clearly states Day 3 in the morning and the person I spoke to the day before asked me what time was suitable in the morning and we agreed on 11:30. So either this employee this morning is incompetent or trying to get an extra day or the hotel management is useless. Either way, I will not pay the extra day no matter what. I would never recomment this hotel to anyone. Avoid it like the plague. quarantine is annoying enough and expensive, we do not need to be treated this bad or get scammed by this hotel.

Staying at the Charterhouse hotel was a last minute necessity to recover between appointments. Booked online after searching and reading some previous reviews. Reminiscent of the grandeur of a lost era, the omens weren't initially good hearing a customer next to me at reception fume about not being able to charge things to his account and pay for them on checking out. The receptionist who spoke to me politely asked me to wait an hour so they could prepare my room, which they did, but said they'd been able to upgrade my room! It was a twin, very clean, and just what I needed to crash for 3 days. I didn't experience any of the inconveniences I'd read about online (smelly carpets, mould in the bathroom, being woken up unnecessarily). I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Everyone was very polite and helpful. The concierge was able to direct me to a good service laundry closeby. I would definitely recommend it to anyone needing a sanctuary at a moment's notice.

Good location. Hotel surrounding was not too interesting, but Time Square and many shopping area public transit just a few min walk away. Where you will find a wild rage of shop and restaurants, hundreds of it. I pick breakfast included room, which is a nice surprise of what they offer for breakfast. They even have free newspaper (1 Chinese and 1 English). Guest room floor hall ways is very narrow. No complaints at all for what I pay for.

I have stayed here over the years when I need a decent budget hotel in Hong Kong. I paid about £85 a night for two nights, which is good value on Hong Kong Island anyway reasonably central. It is a short walk from Gloucester Road, midway between Causeway Bay and Wan Chai. It is about 10 minutes' walk to the nearest Wan Chai MTR (subway) entrance on Johnson Road. There are countless restaurants and 7-Elevens within a few metres. The hotel room is small but functional and clean, with a TV and minibar, and the usual amenities. This is not a luxury hotel, but is good value for money. The only odd thing is the reception, which appears to be a converted bedroom on the 2nd floor!

I don’t recommend it to anyone! You risk being left on the street. We booked 2 rooms on Ostrovka and went as two couples with friends. During the flight, we had a problem; we were not allowed on the flight due to the fact that the validity of the passport was not enough to comply with the transit conditions in Shanghai. I had to urgently buy air tickets for a direct flight to Hong Kong, but 1.5 days later. Our friends repeatedly warned the hotel reception staff personally that we would be checking into the hotel later, and also contacted Ostrovok about this. Upon arrival, however, it turned out that the hotel canceled our reservation with a fine of the full cost of payment, leaving us both without money and without a room. The island washed its hands, they had nothing to do with it, “the hotel has a cancellation policy.” All. Benefit from our experience when booking this hotel and booking service on Ostrovka.
