The InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong receives acclaim for its immaculately clean rooms, which offer impressive views and generous space, although some guests find the decor a bit behind the times and mention occasional odors. The hotel's atmosphere strikes a cozy, albeit slightly dated, chord with travelers, while the amenities, including diverse dining options and bars, add to its appeal. Its coveted location near transport and Victoria Harbour facilitates city exploration, though some visitors have reservations about specific room and lounge views.
The service is mostly heralded for its professionalism, yet it does encounter sporadic lapses. Opinions on value vary, with the harbor vistas being a deciding factor for many.

This hotel maintains high standards in every respect from the very helpful doormen to the lovely restaurant and front desk staff. Breakfast was delicious a wide choice of everything available. I especially want to comment on the extremely comfortable bedroom which had an iron and ironing board in the room as well as all the toiletries. The bed linen and pillows were of the highest quality and ensured a good nights sleep with black out curtains if you don’t want to wake up too early. Choose a room with a view of the bay for that whao factor!

Always a pleasure to stay here. We were upgraded to a harbor view suite as part of the Ambassador Privilege. The hotel is outstanding where service is concerned, be it reception staff, bellboy, doormen, all eager to help, and with a smile. We also like very much the location as it is walkable to the busy part of TST without being in the thick of it! Thank you.

Take a taxi from Kowloon Station. When I asked the bellboy to check in at the club lounge to pick up my luggage, he stored it at the bell desk and took me to the club lounge on B2 by elevator. We sat on the sofa, had Moet champagne as it was cocktail time, and were having a snack at the counter when we were ready to check in. As an Ambassador member, it is a rule that is upgraded one rank, so it has been upgraded from Club City View to Club Harbor Skyline View exactly one grade. This was also showing up on the IHG app a few days ago. The Hong Kong staff at the reception desk explained the lounge time in English and did not forget to give me two drinks tickets for the Ambassador privilege and a ticket for about 2,500 yen. When I asked if it was OK to have breakfast at the restaurant instead of the lounge breakfast, they said I could have it for free at the restaurant. He spoke a bit of fast English, but was kind with a smile. When I entered the 16th floor of the club floor in the top room, my luggage had already been brought in and it was perfect. I didn't need a few $10 bills I prepared for the chip. The room was large enough that I was worried about it when it needed heating in February, but it was always warm with easy temperature setting. The night view of Hong Kong Island is beautiful from the room. The bathroom was shower-only, but it was convenient to control the temperature. I brought a toothbrush and slippers, thinking they weren't environmental issues, but they were there. The club lounge is equipped with enough chairs and staff wearing Japanese, Korean and Filipino badges on their chests to take care of any language concerns. After a few visits, you can learn their faces, and they are all smiling and very kind, and they feel comfortable at home. Breakfast can be ordered in a basic set, Western or Hong Kong style, and drinks, bread and fruit, and desserts are fetched in a buffet style. You can choose from a variety of set menus, and you can choose between Western and Hong Kong-style, so you won't get tired of staying for a few days. Afternoon tea was an authentic three-tiered savoury. During cocktail time, they order and bring drinks. The bar counter also made wine and cocktails, and the champagne was Moët. At one point I had breakfast at the restaurant, but there was a noodle counter and a wide variety, but the lounge was comfortable because it was crowded. At one point I had a course dinner at the hotel's Chinese restaurant, but it was a modern dish, different from the classic Chinese food I eat in Japan. The bar was also used with vouchers, but the staff was crisp and good service. The metro station was conveniently located 5 to 7 minutes walk from Hong Ham station and 2 stations to Golden Bell on Hong Kong Island. The cab was called by the bellboy immediately, and the Uber was looking for it by checking the number, and it worked. It was a good hotel, with an overall calm atmosphere and a familiar club lounge.

My recent stay at the InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong was a mixed experience, with some notable positives and a few areas that could use improvement.
Location and Accessibility: The hotel is situated in a relatively quiet part of Tsim Sha Tsui, which is a bit of a walk from the nearest MTR station. While not overly inconvenient, it would be beneficial if the hotel offered more frequent shuttle bus services to key areas and the MTR station to enhance accessibility for guests.
Recognition and Service: One of the highlights of my stay was the recognition of my IHG status. My tier benefits were communicated, and the staff made an effort to ensure I received the upgrades I was entitled to. This thoughtful service was appreciated and contributed positively to my experience.
Room Experience: Upon arrival, I was initially disappointed to find that the non-smoking room I had reserved had a noticeable smell of smoke. However, the front desk staff was prompt and efficient in relocating me to a different room, which was also upgraded. The new room was spacious and comfortable, maintaining the old luxury style of the hotel. The decor is somewhat dated and could benefit from a modern renovation to keep up with contemporary standards. Some Club rooms are located on the 18th floor. This floor is not directly accessible by the elevator; instead, guests are required to use the stairs from the 17th floor. This could be quite inconvenient for guests with heavy luggage or mobility issues. The hotel staff should be always ready to assist with luggage, ensuring that guests are supported during their stay.
Club Access and Amenities: I had access to the Club Lounge during my stay, which provided a good range of amenities including breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails. The breakfast was well-executed with a decent selection. Wine and sparkling wine available during the evening cocktails were impressive. The afternoon tea, however, was somewhat underwhelming and did not stand out.
The Club Lounge itself had recently been relocated to the M-floor due to renovations since January 2024. While the new location was functional, it felt less private and lacked the tranquility one might expect, particularly during peak check-in and check-out times when the area was quite busy.
Overall Impression: The InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong offers a comfortable stay with its generous room sizes and quality Club Lounge offerings. The service, especially regarding IHG status recognition, was commendable. However, the distance from the MTR station, outdated room decor, and the temporary Club Lounge setup detracted slightly from an otherwise pleasant experience. For those who value affordable traditional luxury and are comfortable with a bit of a walk, this hotel could still be a solid choice.

We had traveled for both business initially and then extended for family vacation. Location is good near harbour and only harbor view rooms are worth the money as otherwise you may just see wall outside your window! Hotel is otherwise located near to MTR and ferry harbour (1 km radius) as well tourist attractions are close by in the Kowloon side of HK.
The hotel staff, particularly the restaurant for breakfast, is not at all friendly and there's no service provided. During breakfast no one ever offered tea/coffee during our entire stay of a week. once or twice some staff may go around with some bakery item but not to all guests (guess who they go to).
If you are a vegetarian there will be few choices including some Indian dishes but manageable (for a week though they kept making chicken/beef samosa...I mean thats Indian food and vegetarian authentic recipe!).

During my second breakfast here, I appreciated how waitress Ivy promptly cleaned up some spilled rice and offered us complimentary tea, going beyond the standard self-serve options.
The breakfast spread was diverse, featuring Indian cuisine, Japanese fried chicken, and traditional Chinese and Western dishes. While the raw salmon was slightly over-salted, the salad bar impressed with its variety of dressings. The dining area, though compact, maintains a comfortable atmosphere.
My wife particularly enjoyed the waffle, which was perfectly cooked and had just the right level of sweetness.
I appreciate that the hotel clearly displays the peak breakfast hours, helping guests plan their dining time to avoid crowds - this is a thoughtful touch that I haven't seen at other hotels. Regarding feedback collection, I would suggest placing QR codes on dining tables or providing small feedback cards that guests could voluntarily complete after their meal, making it easier to gather diverse opinions without disturbing diners.

The overall experience has not been good, however the initial experience appears to be language related. We had two seperate bookings, the first being a paid Ambassador weekend certificate, the second a points award booking. On check in we were advised we would need to move rooms, not an issue, and not a surprise at the time of year. We did request six months earlier to purchase a Club upgrade which we were advised would be 800HKD a night, no problems, the initial problems which were no doubt language related and appeared to be that we would not be permitted to access the lounge due to capacity, this was then clarified as being told it was very busy and sold out. Naively, I also thought think that paying the fee would include an upgrade to a Club Room, nope, standard room with upgrade to city view, again not a problem, it was the same room with a different view. The first Club Room was a Victoria Harbour View and it is an impressive view, however there was an overpowering air freshener used which was more chemical smell than fresh.
We purchased a Festive Package dining experience for New Years Eve at The Mistral, not a cheap purchase at at $1280HKD each plus service charge.
The dining experience can only be described as poor. The initial experience was positive and the service good. The package was sold as semi buffet with a choice of main course. When requesting the included main course of sirloin my husband was advised it was no longer available, his response was, this is really not acceptable. As a special favour a sirloin was made available. On delivery this was one skewer of some sausage, one piece of sirloin, and two pieces of fat. The meal was returned and as it was poor and not the described dish. The lamb rack delivered to the me was delicious but the experience for both of us was destroyed. The Restaurant Manager did offer an alternative course which was declined, in amends he did compliment the wine from dinner. Neither of us felt inclined to have the included dessert as the whole experience had been ruined.
With regards to the Intercontinental Club experience, for the first two nights the staff ignored us, to the point that I literally had to approach staff twice to receive service. On our third attendance we were ignored for over ten minutes, when the male server did notice us and apologised profusely. On subsequent nights this man did provide exceptional service although the female staff continued to ignore us.
The club breakfast is very good, however we were again continually ignored with guests arriving after us being served. Two mornings in a row we sat there for over fifteen minutes without being approached, and had to approach staff to order coffees and the fresh egg options. Out of date yoghurt was in the breakfast buffet and pointed out to the staff.
As appears to be the norm, I expect this review will not be responded to by management, or meaninglessness platitudes offered for guests who were on a once only visit to Hong Kong.
Having stayed at Intercontinental Hotels in both Sydney hotels, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Malta, Puerto Rico and Cancun, this has by far been the most underwhelming and I cannot recommend it,

Dear Sandy R, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I sincerely apologize for the challenges you encountered during your stay, and I appreciate your detailed feedback. I understand that the language barrier during your check-in and the room changes contributed to your initial frustration. It is our goal to provide seamless service, and I regret that we fell short in this instance. Regarding the Club upgrade, I apologize for the misunderstanding about the room type and the air freshener smell. Your comfort is important to us, and I have had another follow up meeting with our housekeeping team members in the location of the room to avoid this happening in future. I am particularly sorry to hear about your dining experience at The Mistral. The description you provided does not reflect the standard we strive for, I have addressed this to our Chef to see where we went wrong. Your feedback regarding the Intercontinental Club experience had been addressed for service improvements and the concerned staff who were supposed to be serving but ignored you have been further trained, which was completed yesterday. I value your loyalty to the Intercontinental brand and deeply regret that your experience with us in Hong Kong did not meet your expectations. We take your comments seriously and work diligently to improve, in all points you mention in your review, the team members and departments have been met with for improvement plans, we have had follow up meetings and team members received further training. Thank you again for your feedback. I do hope that you will return to Hong Kong, please do contact me at john.drummond@icgrandstanford.com. I look forward to hear from you. The hotel is in the perfect location in Hong Kong mainland, right by the Avenue of the Stars which offers magnificent views of the Hong Kong Island skyline anytime of day. The Star Ferry, along with the East Tsim Sea Tsui MTR station, is nearby, making the hotels location ideal to access all of Hong Kong.
The room was well appointed and clean, the rooms with views across Victoria Harbour are worthwhile paying extra for.
While the rooms are great, modern, and well thought through, the service is notably sub-par at the Intercontinental. Having stayed in two other hotels in Hong Kong in recent memory, the service at the Intercontinental in comparison is not as good - the staff were not particularly welcoming or accommodating, there was no welcome or acknowledgement when going in and out of the lobby, and the service felt like a bare minimum approach. The hotel is pricey, and the customer service offered by the staff didn't seem to match the premium being charged for the rooms and other hotel services.
While the lacklustre customer service didn't take away from the overall stay, it did detract from the feel of the hotel and was disappointing in contrast to other similarly rated hotels.
Overall however, an enjoyable stay at a modern and glamorous hotel. While I would recommend the Intercontinental due to its location and great rooms, there are other competitors nearby which offer the complete package.

Dear Matt B, Thank you for the detailed feedback on your recent stay with us. Your insights are greatly appreciated. I'm glad you found the hotel's location to be ideal, with easy access to top attractions and public transit. The views of the harbour we agree are very nice. However, I regret to hear the level of customer service fell short of your experience at other Hong Kong hotels. As a premium property, we should provide hospitality to match, and your feedback on the lack of warmth and responsiveness from staff is duly noted. We will review to ensure all guests feel genuinely welcomed and cared for during their stays. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back. The hotel is perfectly located, right on Victoria Harbour. Transfer time from the airport approx. 35-40min. Within walking distance (about 10min) is a larger stop for various bus lines. The stop of the metro "Tsim Sha Tsui" is also about 5min walk away.
The foyer is huge, check in and check out was very fast.
Breakfast is continental/asia and was really rich every day. The staff is also at rush hour trying to find a table quickly.
On day 2, the F&B manager inquired with us if everything was okay.
The rooms are comfortable, if you value a view, you must inform yourself about it in advance. We had looked into the courtyard which was not very pretty, but we did not care.
The Wi-Fi is well developed.
In summary, we were very satisfied with our stay and would choose the hotel again due to price / performance and location when staying in HKG again.

Hi
Club Lounge is now on the mezzanine floor. To be frank the service is so good it doesn’t matter where the lounge is located your client will be happy.
I believe the new lounge location will be finished within the next couple of months.
