Island Shangri-la, Hong Kong, is a gem that enchants travelers with its newly renovated, themed rooms which create an atmosphere that is both delightful and enchanting. The hotel's service is a consistent point of praise for its personalized touch and family-friendly approach. While the luxurious amenities and gourmet dining contribute to the hotel's high marks, opinions on value are divided due to the juxtaposition of praised room features against the critique of high prices and some outdated rooms. Its location, connected to Pacific Place and proximity to the MTR, makes it an ideal spot for exploring the city, and guests often remark on the hotel's exceptional cleanliness and modern comforts provided in the renovated rooms.

Amazing hotel with gorgeous rooms after renovation, offering a spectacular view of Hong Kong Harbor, with staff that are all attentive to providing the greatest level of service, especially Nicole Tang, from guest relations who goes above and beyond to deliver an amazing Shangri-La service!

We were in a beautifully decorated renovated Harbour view room and managed to catch the spectacular fireworks from the comfort of our bed, which also gave a firm support for a good nights rest. The hotel also has a pillow menu so if you find the provided pillows to not be your type, you can always call them or request via the app for another type. Our room also had an amazing long daybed by the window that allows you to just sit at admire the gorgeous views, Nicole, told us that this day beds can actually be converted to two single beds as they are all special customized Simmons mattresses and not your average cushion.

This renovated room has also separated the bathroom from the shower, making them to be more easily accessible by different guest staying in the same room. The bathroom it’s bright with lots of mirrors and came with both a rain shower and soaking tub. Toilet amenities were provided by John Masters organic, a relatively high-end brand - the foam well and was quite moisturizing, and the scents were all nice and subtle. Bath salts were also provided.

Overall, the stay was excellent and it is definitely a hotel that I will come back again if i am in the city - the location, being attached to a huge mall with great access to the local transport system, a short taxi ride will take you to Central, and the beautiful renovated rooms makes this perhaps the best choice in this location right now (as the other two hotels next to Shang are still not renovated).

This was our second stay here, third in Hong Kong. We really love the hotel & would definitely recommend staying here. Our agent had booked us a deluxe peak view room which we thought we would be a bit disappointed with after staying in a harbour view last time, but how wrong we were! The peak view was fantastic! We paid an upgrade for a refurbished room which was fab. The views were unbelievable, especially at night, I could have sat and looked at the view all day, it was vast and amazing! The shower was one of the best we’ve had, comfy large bed and electric blackout blinds and voiles. The breakfast has plenty of choice, although a lot of Chinese food, obviously, and a rather chaotic experience as it was Chinese New Year. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We didn’t eat in the hotel but the concierge was happy to recommend restaurants nearby which we tried and they were good. The hotel is in a great location above the Pacific Place shopping centre and is convenient for trams, mtr and walking around the area. The only negative was we felt a little awkward going to the pool area, with questions and confirmation of room number, perhaps a key swipe would be useful? Also the water in the pool could have been a bit warmer at this time of year. All in all a brilliant enjoyable stay.

I must confess Shangri-La was never my first option due to loyalty membership with other brands.

However I feel compelled to compliment the newly renovated rooms! Designed fantastically with so many useful features, this is one room which is truly designed with the user in mind.

pull out tray for your shoes ✅
Open wardrobe concept for more space easily storing two luggage’s ✅
Built in Hairdryer holder for a proper hairdryer meaning no wire to uncoil daily or filthy unwashed bags to fiddle with. ✅
Bedside pullout drawers with an inbuilt plug and wireless charging for your devices. No dangling wires ✅
USB sockets all around ✅
Filtered water dispenser ✅
Guest Fridge, no need to rearrange the mini bar for your own drinks ✅, albeit not very cold.
Sensor activated night light that switches on when it detects motion ✅. Can’t decide if I love it or hate it but I guess it was carefully thought out.

Will be my hotel of choice the next time I’m back in hk.

I have stayed in many Shangri-La Hotels 🏨🏨🏨, among which this 1️⃣ hotel in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 is a model of this hotel group®️ and one that will definitely surprise you 😲, and the value is even better.

Location transportation:
The Central District location is very convenient for both driving and transportation. The MTR Admiralty Station is easily accessible through a super large high-end shopping mall. There are hotel parking spaces for those who drive🚗🚙🅿️, and there are also large indoor parking lots nearby, which is quite convenient.

Room facilities:
The 🈵Chinese-style layout is the specialty here. You can also choose the 👉newly designed fashion style. The two guest room designs cater to most guests. The room is oversized and is close to 5️⃣0️⃣ square meters. When you enter the room, you have a large window with unparalleled sea view and a wide The bed and well-equipped bathroom has a bathtub🛀 and a shower head. The attached meticulous facilities show that the hotel really understands the needs of its guests.

Room view:
I believe it is one of the selling points of this hotel. The vast "Victoria Harbor" view is in front of 👁️👁️, so that the sea and sky are the same color. You can marvel at the bustling city during the day and the colorful lights at night 🌆.

swimming pool:
The outdoor heated swimming pool allows you to enjoy the winter sunshine on cold days🌞
Gym:
Just like a professional gym or even better, the equipment and personnel are of professional level. No matter you know it or not, there are waiters here to help you do it correctly and stretch your body. ❤️

Dining room:
Dishes from many countries are available here, and there is no doubt that the Michelin-star rating is there. There is also no shortage of bars🍻🍹 and Cafe☕

Serve:
Being treated with courtesy and sincere service is a high level of Level 5 service

Value for money:
It is extremely cost-effective for the same class. It is definitely worth staying in a hotel where national leaders and celebrities have stayed at this price. Moreover, not many hotels can enjoy this 180° view of the sea.

Each Shangri-La Group hotel is at the forefront of the mid-to-high level of its class, and this one on Hong Kong Island is one of the top ones in the group. You can fully experience the group's services and features. It is worth recommending whether it is for business or tourism.

I stayed a week at this hotel in Dec 2023 and went back again this Xmas. Once I stayed here I set my expectations high for all other 5 stars hotel, but none can compare to this. The service they provide was above all others (including their Kowloon branch) they made my stay a memorable one.
I was travelling with my 5 years old, they were able to provide bed rails to make me sleep in peace, the room service was fast and I got to pick where I need the rails, they tailored to my needs quickly. Even I was in the room before renovations, it’s very comfortable, the whole room was in good size and the bathroom has a shower and bath tub. They fill the sea salt everyday for us to use the bath tub, there was a tv to watch when we bath. They basically had everything including plates and cups and utensils in the room. I had the room service breakfast for the first two mornings and they were fantastic! They came in a warm cart that could turn into a table. The rest of the mornings I tried the buffet breakfast and they had everything! I really think the buffet breakfast was much better than their buffet dinner, it was that good. The staff who made me HK style milk tea was very friendly as he saw me drinking one every morning. I like how they greeted and talked to me, it feels very warm and personal. One morning I got a birthday card from their team with the photo I took with the bear upon arrival, it was a very sweet surprise. Then they booked my son to the kids play room, it was perfect for my 5 years old he had such a great time there!
The outdoor pool was newly opened back then, it was outdoor but the water was warm, it was perfect for swimming because the winter in HK still has 20 degrees. The pool side staff were there to tend to my needs like I was in a resort.
The view of my room was the best in HK, even the old room had the automatic blinds, I enjoyed viewing the night and sun rise and then the sunny afternoon. It was such a fantastic stay that my son keep asking to go back.

This year I went back and met Nicole from customer relations team, she personally worked very hard to track down the chef Sam beats for my kids, I can’t thank her enough for doing that. I really appreciate her understanding of how we want the bear collection in different costumes.
Also want to add the lobby afternoon tea with live music was magical like Disney, somehow they were playing that music and our butterfly pea tea was changing colour, it was always a pleasure to enjoy our time in Shangri La!

We purchased the Club Rooms and must say that we were extremely glad that we did. We could have breakfast in the restaurant and it turns out it is a Michelin Star restaurant and wow - just wow. The service was next level, the food was amazing and we could not believe the views, which we had from every seat we sat in. There is also a small buffet and unfortunately out stomachs were not big enough to try everything during our stay. Some of the food looked so picturesque we felt bad eating it, but was worth it every time. There is nothing I can say to express how impressed we were. We did try the buffet downstairs on our last day and I would have said that was great but was disappointing after the next level experience upstairs. The buffet downstairs had so much on offer still but was just a totally different experience. The facilities are so amazing and the pool area, although too cold to swim were amazing, from the fully equipped gym to the sauna. The services in the change room included everything you could possibly need from deodorant to dyson hairdryer. The rooms are beautifully appointed and we had one that had been renovated and the whole family was mersmerised by the technology in the room from the toilet that set itself up when you entered into the bathroom to the lights in the room. Specatular views too. The offering in the club rooms was amazing and we did not need to go out to dinner after we dined there. The Verve is free flowing and your glass never gets empty. If you order a cup of tea you get the full experience and there was not one pieve of food I tried that disappointed. I pushed my culinary experience to try food I had never tasted and I think I have now tasted every flavour macaron ever invented. I know the management likes us to mention staff names but they were all so amazing there is not one that I want to mention above others, you should be proud of your hiring as they all made us feel like we were the only person there. They rememberedour room numbers after our first stay and were alwy welcoming in both the club rooms and the restaurants. This hotel is so luxurious I could not imagine staying anywhere else when we are in Hong Kong again. The transport is easy and it is located alongside a massive shopping mall that has everything on offer and it linked to the metro. Hong Kong can be difficult to navigate but this location was alwasy easy to get to and from. Cannot say there was a downside to anything at this hotel as they do everything to make your stay amazing. Also loved that they change hte carpet in the lifts to tell you what day of the week it is, as it is easy to forget when you are there, I didnt want our stay to end and we even stayed in the lobby for a drink after we checked out as we didnt want to leave.

We stayed in this hotel in early Jan 2024 in their newly renovated room (Grand Premier Harbour View King). The room was superb with great view. The room was clean & spacious with all the necessities provided, even kids amenities. The modern decor was very pleasing and the modern bathroom facilities also made the stay very relaxing. Was pleasantly surprised that the hairdryer provided in the room was strong as it was plugged to a normal electrical outlet instead of those weaker outlets in most of the hotels. Ironing board & iron were also provided in the room which makes it more convenient if any ironing was needed.

The hotel is very kid friendly as it also provides high chair for baby/toddlers & bed guards too. Kids activity bags were also given which included stickers, colouring sheet which can be made into badges & colour pencils.

The hotel is conveniently linked to a shopping mall (Pacific Place). The hotel has a few restaurants and food can also be delivered to the hotel via food delivery apps, just need to collect from the lobby when it arrives, providing more food options.

We were very fortunate to meet Gigi & Celina (from the Guest Relations Team). They really took good care of us throughout our stay and made our child’s birthday trip very memorable.

We would like to give a shout-out to the housekeeping staff (I think her name is Susan) who came to help us clear the broken wine glass that my toddler broke. She is very detailed. She even switched off the lights in the room & used her phone’s flashlight to comb through the carpet floor to make sure that there wasn’t any glass pieces left. We are very thankful for her attentiveness.

Due to having an international flight that landed in Hong Kong by 7 am, we arrived at the Island Shanghai La way before their check in time. The gentleman at reception greeted us very politely and very graciously explained that check in was at 3pm but as they had a room ready they would allow us to check in early. This was very welcome and much appreciated as we really needed to freshen up after such a long flight.
The room we were given was on the 47th floor with amazing views of the peak. It was one of the recently refurbished rooms and was beautifully decorated, with a king size bed, chaise long, desk, large tv, open wardrobe, and a pantry area with Nespresso machine and a kettle. There was fresh fruit waiting for us on arrival, which was replenished every day.
The bathroom was lovely and had one of the best showers I have ever had in a hotel.
The location of the hotel was familiar to us, as we had previously stayed in the Conrad next door, it is well located for visiting the peak, as well as most other areas of Hong Kong due to it connecting to Pacific Place Mall, which in turn connects to the Admiralty Metro Station.
I would highly recommend anyone wanting a great hotel in a perfect location to choose the Island Shangri La.

We stayed for a couple of nights. The hotel is located on top of Pacific Place an up scale shopping centre with a direct access via a lift. The hotel rooms begin from the 39th Floor. The rooms renovated two years ago are spacious and have an excellent lay out. Very comfortable with all the amenities, plugs and switches. The room was fitted with a filtered water dispenser for hot and cold water, this is an excellent idea and did away with the need for the bottles. The bar was well stocked. The bath room was well designed and equipped, the squarish design of the tub was very functional. The view of Hong Kong Harbour overlooking the top of the buildings was stunning. Staff were very helpful and polite. Though the bellman receiving the guests could perhaps up their game. Would definitely return.

Exceptionally expensive and equally disappointing on almost every level. Where to start: Deluxe king room with old and tired furniture and also dusty. Elevators that take for ever with zero floor security. Horizon Club that is meant to be exclusive, over filled beyond capacity and offering almost nothing by way of quality food bites or decent brands of wine and alcohol. The 56th floor Michelin starred Restaurant Petrus, serving super expensive breakfasts and not even being able to provide an acceptable english breakfast. Raw eggs, cold everything else - two days running. We never went a third. The in house Lobster grill serving Burgers at $50 each...fries extra.

Shangri-La Corporate management needs rethink this property dramatically as we'd just come from the Singapore Shangri-La and it was night and day. Hong Kong is relying on its old world reputation but it offers none of the quality of value. Never again.

Is the breakfast in buffet style ?

It depends, it can be an international style buffet at Cafe Too or À la cart plus semi buffet at Petrus, you can call the hotel ask for the breakfast arrangement couple of days before you check in. Personally I prefer the breakfast at Petrus, and it located on the 56/F and you can enjoy the panoramic view of Victoria Harbour while you having your breakfast. Hope it helps, Enjoy.

You can bring a guest to the club where they serve bite-sized confectionery or savoury appetizer all day. We kind of use their lounge as business meeting place day long and notify their club staff ahead how my schedule will be. I told their manager in charge to put guest's orders under my tab. And I also brought my friend at the end of day to have a tea. At the end, I was surprised to see my room bill listed only a few additional charges. They basically charge a few orders of tea/ coffees, and for my friend, set price for afternoon tea at $400 HKD. For myself, I nibbled the whole day and ordered at least 4-5 fresh brewed tea/ coffee, all inclusive.
