Convenient but impersonal hotel with most staff experience. Lobby was noisy with noise emanating up to the coffee shop. Open concept lobby made the place seemed like a marketplace. Hotel Christmas decor dates and cheap. Room window faced a wall. Price paid comparable to 5 star hotels nearby. Only saving grace is the location.

The Excelsior has been my go-to hotel in HK due to several reasons. First, their location is strategic: they are one of the stops in the free hotel drop offs from either Airport Express Hong Kong or Kowloon stations, they are in front of the harbor, from the back/side entrance is the center of Causeway Bay (Sogo) and a few...

Came here for a two night visit. The Excelsior is right in the center of Causeway Bay, a busy shopping area in Hong Kong. Just walk out and you will see, Mtr station, Sogo department store all the way to Times Square. The room is reasonable size, comfortable bed and good size bathroom. Breakfast is also good. The only irritant...

Value for money in the center of HK, many shopping options within walking distance. MTR station also available. Breakfast is good. Room is clean and spacious (considering the price). Hotel view is nice, towards HK harbor..

I arrived late into Hong Kong only to be told that the hotel shuttle i had booked that was due to depart in 20 minutes was full and i would have to wait 50 minutes for the next one. I took a taxi instead, and informed hotel at check-in that i was not happy about the situation. They immediately rang...

Wonderful view, excellent service and a really good breakfast. The staff were very, very eager to help. It was a very good experience of what efficiency looked like. We arrived to pleasant staff who spoke perfect English our stay of 5 days was only blighted by rain and the hotel even loaned us umbrellas.

Famous and not the newest hotel but has very friendly and well trained staff throughout. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Sports bar is friendly but can get a little loud. Often filled with staff from airlines on overnight. The TOTT's restaurant offers amazing views of Hong Kong harbour and excellent food but not a cheap place to eat. Location is...

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
