We stayed at the Marco Polo in a Club room for the night before joining a cruise in Hong Kong leaving from Ocean Terminal. The location of the hotel cannot be beaten - when we left the next day it was less than a 5 minutes walk from the hotel to get to the Cruise checkin desk - and all of this walking was within the shopping centre in air conditioned comfort with a lift to take us and our luggage right to the checkin desk. The Club facilities and room were fantastic with checkin at a separate reception desk on the 17th floor. The complimentary breakfast served in the quiet of the Club room on the 17th floor was excellent with a mix of Asian and European style food including fresh cooked omelettes and eggs of any style. The complimentary drinks were also appreciated on arrival after a long travel day.

When booking this hotel I could not find many useful reviews - especially based around the Continental Club Upgrade rooms - so after our recent stay 26-12-24 till 3-1-25 I am writing this review. Yes the hotel is an older hotel, has a bit of a musty smell but upon arrival, concierge quickly grabbed our bags from the taxi and escorted us to the front desk. Once our booking had been retrieved they advised out check in was on the 17th floor at the Club Lounge. There are 2 sets of lifts one at the front near reception and 1 at the back near the lobby lounge - this set worked better as quieter. check in was quick and simple and our room was ready 1751 - Continental Harbor View room - and just around the corner from the Lounge. First impression of Room- Big, Clean and spacious, large bathroom with walk in shower and rain head, and separate bath. Plenty of hanging space and hangers, very large comfortable bed and excellent view of the harbor. Don't expect modern design but can say very clean and comfortable. Complimentary water each day. The lounge staff very attentive and polite, great service, breakfast offering ample with additional al a carte items available, afternoon tea, good selection of cakes, large sandwiches, soft drinks tea and coffee, plus scones, evening cocktails was brilliant - small cocktail menu, spirits, beers and wine, substantial food offering changing daily and never an empty glass. Location - great right near the star ferry - quick access rear of hotel, hotel also joins flash shopping mall gym - good selection of equipment - but dark pool - did not use but looked good Overall we would stay here again - stayed with friends and ventured out for New Years Eve - OMG.

Location is perfect for anyone embarking on a cruise that departs from the Ocean terminal or have an urge to spend, spend, spend as the hotel is also very central for high-end designer stores that are on the same street as the hotel. The hotel was a bit dated but sufficient. The hotel connects to a mall that extends and connects to the embarkation area for cruise ships. Although it would be a pretty easy walk through the mall to the embarkation area without a lot of luggage, we hoped that the hotel’s bellmen would assist. However, it appeared that they may not allow their bellmen to assist guests off premises, but we did have someone finally help us with our luggage(using the luggage trolley). It appeared our friendly bellman was not familiar with the mall and the embarkation area for the cruise ships, so he took us outside of the hotel and a very long way around the building with the result of having us reenter the mall. It would have been very easy to walk thru the lobby and directly into the mall for direct access to the embarkation area that is located at the very end of the mall with escalators leading to the bottom level. The hotel is very near to the Star Ferry Pier and the China Ferry Terminal. We wanted to visit Macau island and after doing some research found that the China Ferry Terminal offered some direct TurboJet ferry routes to and from Macau. The China Ferry Terminal appears very new and is reached by exiting the hotel’s main lobby, turning left and walking about 10 minutes north on Canton Road until you see the entrance on the left. The more popular Star Ferry Pier appeared to offer ferries to Macau but with a stop and transfer on Hong Kong Island. Overall, there are other hotels very near the Marco Polo that looked more updated with higher prices. We were satisfied with our Harbor View room and direct access to the mall and walkable tourist must see areas. The hotel had a nice buffet restaurant that offered a nice selection of seafood, Chinese and Western dishes.

Having grown up in Hong Kong through the 70's, 80's, and 90's I've spent countless Sunday family lunches at the Hong Kong Hotel. Always wondering what it would be like to stay there. And this past week I was finally able to.. As such there may be reviews about dated interiors, etc. but in the end I feel like it was well worth the price, with modern hotels focused on efficiency or the higher end hotels being luxurious, the Hong Kong Hotel rooms are straight up enormous, spaceous, grand and clean. The staff were meticulous with cleaning and courteous.
And of course its smack dab in the middle of everything, Ocean Centre/Terminal, Harbor City, Star Ferry, the K11 Musea area, etc.. The harbor view was awesome and recommended.

I've stayed at this hotel and other Marco Polo properties before. The location is great for shopping and commuting to Hong Kong side via ferry. We were fortunate enough to be assisted by Housekeeping and the Concierge desk for a toy that was left in our room upon check out (we found out a day later as we were in a different HK hotel) They confirmed having found it, stored it, and gave us options to retrieve it.
Check in was a little slow, but not too bad. One of the rooms we booked had a faulty AC and noisy faucet but these were remedied immediately after a call for assistance. Overall it was a pleasant stay with top-notch service from everyone we met.

It's outstanding services especially the room services and concierge are amazing. The lady who clean the room always ask anything else we needed. And the gentleman at the concierge saw me going out or coming back, always come and help as I am travelling with a baby along with the pram, they always come and help to carry the pram up and down stair or turn the lift on when my baby sleeping in the pram.

We had a Luxury Package deal from Australia that included breakfast and club lounge access.
Unfortunately, my room faced the internal square of the building so I had no views except into other people’s room.
The room itself was very comfortable, and housekeeping left several bottles of water daily.
The staff on ground floor were very friendly and helpful. They greeted us whenever we walked by and the bell boys rushed to help anyone struggling with their bags.
Be careful of the safe in the drawer. The top cover is quite heavy and I nearly had it slam on my fingers couple of times. The safe was big enough for a laptop.
The pool is on level 6 with lifeguards. It closes at lunchtime.
The hotel is conveniently located to the ferries and MTR. There is direct access to the Ocean Terminal shopping centre on level 3.
See the 8:00 p.m. light show from level 6 car park or dine at Cucina at around that time.
I would return to stay again.

In fact, does not meet any expectations. In comparison to other 5-star hotels, this one fails to meet even simple sanitary rules. The only advantage is that this hotel is connected to large shopping mall.
Overall experience is not pleasant, hotel feels old and rusty, in corridors and guestrooms there is smell of dust, old cigarette smoke and dampness with a slight hint of mouldy smell.
We were family travelling in a group of six, and we booked three rooms there. We stayed from 31/07 to 08/08.
Daily housekeeping services aren’t great. They didn’t make up beds or wash used cups left in the room. Drawers in the wardrobe zone were all dirty and dusty, and I found not so lovely “welcome gift” upon my arrival in one of the drawers, it was dead spider. I also dropped a pen under the bed and had to look there… I wish I hadn’t. There were dust lumps and some other things I failed to identify. The bathrooms also had rust everywhere and in my bathroom there were dried food remains scattered under the sink. I had to clean the room (wipe all flat surfaces, wipe drawers and the bathroom floor) by myself upon my arrival to meet my own sanitary requirements, and I must say, never had I ever do this before in any other hotel.
During this one week stay all my family suffered from moderate allergic reactions, we are all sensitive to cigarette smoke and allergic to the dust. We had to ask to change one of the rooms because it had extremely strong cigarette smoke smell coming from the vent in the bathroom.
Also, the tableware at the breakfast buffet was not giving the 5-star hotel feeling, too. Almost every plate and bowl was chipped by edges.
I stayed at other hotel from this chain before and I hold membership there, but after this stay I would refrain from choosing and recommending them.

It was a return visit for me after 5 long years ! This time it was with my wife and we just fell in love with this magnificent property which has stood the test of time. I reckon its the Marco Polo team (the people) which has stood this test of time and made it what it is today.
We had requested for an early check in as we were arriving around noon and to our pleasure we were obliged. We were greeted by Zatan & Ahmed from the concierge team and quickly escorted for check in which was an effortless process as they had our details from the last visit which made this process seamless and a breeze while i admired the vibrant refurbished lobby from the last time i was here. We were quickly escorted to our room by Ms. Angela while welcoming us back to the hotel. During our conversation she got to know our return flight and sent a concierge team member back to the reception which looked odd to us ( at that point in time) as we couldn’t understand them as they spoke in Chinese. Once she had checked us in and shown us the room the team member returned with our room keys which were reprogrammed till much later than the regular check out time and Ms. Angela informed us that we could use the room till that day evening as they have extended the check out time for us and the room keys were reprogrammed till the evening. So so thoughtful and what a gesture to get it done the right way the first time around.
While most of our time was outdoors in Hong Kong exploring and embracing its food & culture we did happen to use the lounge a few times during the 2 nights stay. I just cant compliment the lounge staff enough on their attention to detail and the service levels they were providing to all the guests. They too would get it right the first time and never was there a time that they didnt recall our preferences and needs. These are the basics for any service industry and now a days more rare a standard to expect but boy o boy all of them got it right always. Thanks to Simon , Kenny & Andrew for taking good care of us at the lounge as well as Chef Amar Singh for a great curated indian curry breakfast for us with some authentic Parathas(Bread) with Okra and a curry.
I feel its this team which makes Marco Polo what it is today and am sure it will continue strong in the times to come specially till we return back in the near future !!
