I have stayed at the East three times over the past two years, and each visit has surpassed the last. Every member of the Front Office and Concierge provided exceptional care, especially knowing I was traveling alone this time. They were attentive, hospitable, and genuinely caring.
Having previously lived in Hong Kong, I truly appreciate the East's convenient location next to a shopping center and the Tai Koo Shing MTR station. It's approximately 15 minutes to Central by MTR.
I particularly loved the drinking water dispenser and microwave in the room. The hotel uses high-quality Australian amenities, and the room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. This time, I also enjoyed a beautiful sea view!
For breakfast, I dined at ‘Feast,’ which offered a generous buffet selection of both Asian and Western dishes. ‘Domain’ also provides good coffee and light meals (both are on the same level).
I even invited my friends from Hong Kong to ‘Sugar,’ the rooftop bar that boasts breathtaking views of East Kowloon, for cocktails.

It offers incredible value for money, especially considering the spacious rooms you get at such a reasonable price. The location is unbeatable – situated on Hong Kong Island, it’s just a 10-minute trip to Causeway Bay, 15 minutes to Central or Tsim Sha Tsui, and surrounded by a nice residential neighbourhood with malls and restaurants.
Unlike the overly grand big-brand hotels, this place feels easygoing, community-oriented, and welcoming. It gives you the sense of living in a Hong Kong neighborhood, especially with Taikoo Shing right next door. You’ll find everything you need within walking distance – from late-night snacks to convenience stores. The MTR station is directly opposite the hotel entrance, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city.
The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, adding to the warm atmosphere. I also loved the creative touch of upcycled environmental flip-flops turned into art pieces in the elevators – such a unique and eco-friendly detail!
The room is nice with the Bluetooth speakers and green taps to replace bottled water. One of the best surprises was the stunning view of the Eastern Hong Kong promenade and waterfront from the bed, shower, and toilet. It felt like a luxury experience without the luxury price tag.
The rooftop bar was another highlight. Unlike the crowded and overpriced bars in Lan Kwai Fong, this spot was relaxed and offered breathtaking views. Sipping a drink under the moonlight was the perfect way to unwind.

Another enjoyable stay at the refreshed East hotel in Taikoo Shing, Hong Kong.
I cannot praise enough of the high customer services provided by the hotel team, from my interactions with the Reservations team to Check in and throughout our stay.
For example, one would always dreaded about having to call up to make reservation changes. Not sure who you will be speaking to and how long you have to wait to get connected to the right person, etc. I however have no such problems with my interactions with the East’s reservation service team. To my delight, Gloria was courteous, friendly and very helpful and understanding throughout my rather demanding request for changes calls for this particular stay.
If you are looking for a comfortable and welcoming hotel stay in Hong Kong which is close to the MTR eateries and shopping, then you should consider the East. It’s just about another 20 minutes MTR ride to Central. But you save from paying the much higher rates charged by comparable standard hotels.
Just another thing to consider - if you like to pamper yourself to the uninterrupted view over the Hong Kong harbour, paying more to stay at the Harbour View Corner room is highly recommended.

We had a wonderful experience at EAST Hong Kong! From the moment we arrived, the receptionists were incredibly friendly and helpful, making check-in seamless and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our long stay.

Room layout maximized the available space, well located plug points, Bluetooth speaker (though took a lot of fiddling to switch on), comfortable table and chair for work or a nepresso coffee. Impressed by the solid waiter corkscrew and in room filter water system. Box of sweets is probably not necessary, and the open clothes hanger is fine for short stays. Buffet breakfast was okay, I think nut Danish was the most memorable, usual egg counter, cold cuts and British full cooked. Seating was bright and not cramped. Pool is small and best get in early as it feels full with just 5 people in it. Gym is very airy with new equipment in terms of tech.

Awesome modern hotel at a convenient location. MTR station and large shopping centre next door. There’s a quick access to the shopping centre through 1st floor cafe.
Stayed here for 6 nights during Dec 2023 (first visit). Hotel rooms are large for HK hotels. Excellent amenities and modern decor, there was an adapter provided in the room plus various usb ports in the room.
Turbo Panasonic hairdryer provided was very handy for drying long hair. Filter water on tap was provided for drinking, great for the environment. Will definitely stay here again next year.
Service was excellent from both reception, housekeeping and concierge staff. Had daily buffet breakfast as part of hotel package. They had both western and Chinese selections plus coffee and various herbal tea choices.

Dinner at Feast was fantastic, featuring a wide selection of seafood, a sushi counter, and a variety of desserts. The premium main dishes we chose—beef wagyu tenderloin and lamb rack—were exquisite. The wine pairing, four glasses for $190, was a great deal (I highly recommend the orange wine).
