I love it when you don't expect much & it exceeds your expectations... this was my experience at Empire Hotel in Causeway Bay. First of all, the location is not really in the heart of Causeway Bay, it's actually located in Tin Hau which is one metro stop away. Luckily, the nearest subway station is a brisk one block walk away or you can choose to take a taxi which costs less than HK$20 one way to CWB. The pros about the location is that it's quieter & not as rowdy, but expect to rely on public transport or walk a distance to your destination.
Upon entering the modern & sleek lobby, the staff at the front desk was very friendly & provided quick check-in service which was great after a long days travel. The concierge was able to offer accurate directions & helpful in ordering a taxi the following day when I was in a rush. The room was very spacious, beyond my imagination after staying at so many tiny boutique hotels in my frequent travels to Hong Kong. I read in other reviews about the "magic glass" function & had to test it for myself, what a wonderful design it is! With a switch of a button, you have privacy when/if you need it in the bathroom. Being a 4 star hotel, the necessities were provided such as: robes, slippers, toiletries, safe, laundry service, room service, etc. With 3 elevators & a key card access required to enter your floor, I felt very safe. The modern TV was equipped with games for families traveling with children, as well as, remote access: your bill, the weather, the hotel services. I requested a room on a higher level & got a peek-a-view of the HK harbor in the morning. The breakfast buffet that was included in my package had a very good selection of western & Chinese cuisine. There is also free access to the Empire Lounge on the 30th floor which had an even more spectacular view of Victoria Park & the waterfront, as well as, offer business services & snacks/drinks throughout the day/evening. The hotel has their own promotion & I would like to go back next time to try their spa service which all the high-tech imported equipments they've advertised. WIFI was also included in the rate which is an additional savings! The only drawback I would mention is that the king size bed was a connection of two twins, so it was not the most comfortable as I had to sleep on either side to avoid the center divider.
Overall, I am VERY pleased with my stay at this hotel & would recommend it to travelers who are looking for a reasonably priced hotel with good service on Hong Kong island. BTW, there's a fabulous dessert place around the corner that serves excellent shaved ice & mango tapioca!

The Empire Hotel Causeway Bay is close to Tin Hau MTR station. It is not actually in the heart of Causeway Bay, but it is near plenty of shops and restaurants.
I took the H2 shuttle to get to the hotel (after taking the Airport Express train), and this hotel was the first hotel that the shuttle stopped at, making this a quick shuttle trip.
The TV had several extra functions such as showing the prices for the menu and room service and showing the current tally of your room bill. I found the latter feature useful since I needed to make a number of phone calls, and it updated very quickly.
Breakfast was not included in my package, and this was fine, since I ate breakfast at a nearby restaurant each morning. There are plenty to choose from. There was no reason to ever eat at the hotel, and their prices (which I found on the TV) seemed a bit high anyway.
The room was longish and narrow. It was quite satisfactory, clean and comfortable.
You also need to use your room card to operate the lift, which can be difficult when the lift is crowded, and this is exacerbated by the fact that the lifts are fairly dark making the floor numbers hard to read.
I found this place to be good value, as I got to stay 4 nights for the price of 3. Breakfast was not included but as mentioned above this was not a problem.

Hotel rooms in Hong Kong are notoriously small and cramped. However, I think the Empire Hotel does a good job utilizing a small space for most efficiency. The rooms kind of remind me of business hotels I have stayed in Tokyo.
The name is also a bit misleading as yes, you are within walking distance of Causeway Bay but I think this neighborhood is actually Tin Hau which is the area on the other side of Victoria Park (lovely!) but having said that, I actually enjoyed staying in this area more (in the past, I have stayed at the Excelsior and in my backpacking days, also those family-run "hostels" in the heart of Causeway Bay). This neighborhood is filled with tiny local shops, restaurants and cafes.
A two minute walk to King's Road is where you can catch the trams which run all along Hong Kong island. I preferred riding the tram to taking the metro, but do know that it's not a time saver as it literally took me about an hour to ride from my stop near the hotel to Central. But I had my camera and a great window seat, so I enjoyed every minute of it.

A quarantine hotel where you find a used condom packet, used slippers and used tissues under your bed and a clump of human hairs in the shower drain. And the hotel reaction - no apology or refund, just messages demanding proof so they can verify the "validity of my complaint". I kept finding human hairs in the room during my 21 day stay. Terrible internet connection that the hotel said was only for "web browsing and emails" and threatened to cut off inmates (we were not treated like guests) who used more than one device. The hotel does not clean your room when you are in quarantine so it felt very unhealthy, particularly as it had sealed the windows. Changing rooms is complex under the Q rules, and from what other guests were saying in a chat group there was no guarantee it would be any better.

I stayed this hotel for quarantine hotel. When I xame in, the room is not clean full of dust. Food is terrible. Drinking water that provided is not enough and when I asked for more the staff said No! Food delivery from outside is limited with specific time of delivery only. Wifi is not good. Not recommend to stay here.

The floor is full of dust, its awful make sure you put on the slippers. Bedding is okay, Bathroom is okay. The hotel is located in noisier streets but the soundproofing of the hotel is bad. Well, probably won’t come back again.

Dirty and dusty room. Internet connection is bad. Staff is not helpful and keeps lying/making excuses. Unbelievably humid room that walls, beddings and ceilings are all wet. We could not sleep on it or there is no one moment we do not feel heavy because of this insane humidity. Hotel tends to keep the AC as low as 10C to cover the bad smell as well as keeping mold away. Once we change the temperature to something like 20, water comes out and mold too…Very disgusting and very unhealthy living condition.

Our family stayed in two rooms in this hotel. We had lots of issues with the hotel which made our vacation a nightmare.
First is that we were not notified that there is a construction going on. Worst is that the construction is right beside our assigned room which woke us up very early in the morning. We had incomplete sleep and were not able to rest due to this.
Second is that my sister's Collagen Drink was stolen by the staff who cleaned our room. Worst thing is that the Hotel Manager even told my sister that probably the drink was drank by another family member. That was impossible since we were out the whole day roaming around Hong Kong and the room was already made when we came back. Instead of apologizing, the Manager insisted that one of our family members drank it and we can just buy some more in the stores downstairs. Thing is that drink only comes from Japan and is not available anywhere else. Such a rude manager! Will not recommend this hotel to anyone else!

Response from Elaine K, Group Assistant Marketing Manager at The Empire Hotel Hong Kong - Causeway Bay
Responded Mar 8, 2015
Dear Mr Chester S., Greetings from the Empire Hotel Hong Kong – Causeway Bay. First of all, we would like to extend our gratitude to you for choosing to stay with us earlier. In response to your comment about noise from the nearby building, it is to our knowledge that its building works have been in strict compliance with the noise control ordinance set out by the local authority. The site is currently in its fitting out stage with low noise impact to its surrounding neighborhood. We apologize for any disturbance that you felt during your stay. As for your allegation of theft by our staff member, please rest assured that we appreciate the gravity of your comment. On the 1st March prior to your check out we received your report of a lost bottle of drink in your room on your return to the hotel in the evening of the 28th February. We immediately reviewed the room corridor CCTV footage and keycard entry record, it shows that other than the room attendant who entered your rooms for cleaning, there was no one else. The Hotel Disciplinary Committee has also interviewed the room attendant concerned. She has been working with us for few years and is a hard-working and reliable staff member with no previous complaint record. However, we shall continue to monitor our staff performance. In response to your comment about our guest services personnel, kindly accept our sincere apologies for the dissatisfaction that you had felt. Further customer service training will be undertaken as our priority. We do appreciate and respect all feedback from our customers and your feedback is important for helping us to maintain our quality services. Review of our Quarantine hotel: Empire Hotel Hong Kong - Causeway Bay
In short: AVOID this hotel if you care about your mental & physical health.
We booked this hotel 2 weeks ago, as most hotels were fully booked and this hotel has rooms with connecting doors and a desk. Both my wife and myself required this as we will be working and having conference calls throughtout the day.
Reservation & price: We booked directly through the hotel reservation line and received the confirmation by email for 1500 hkd a night incl. Tax. For 2 rooms with double beds. We had to send over pictures of our creditcard front and back. (Cover the 3 digit!) And other details as HK gov. Requires the check-in to take less than 5 min. After booking they will send you their house rules...summary: no refund and they allow only delivery of items smaller than 40x40cm. Items like monitors are too big.
Check-in We arrived at the hotel at 21:00 (we landed at 16:00) and had to measure our temperature and disinfect our hands. One of the hotel staff was cleaning everything behind us, starting from the carpark mopping the floor, windows, door. While talking with the frontdesk she was standing ready with her bleech and towel.
Hygiene: very poor As this hotel recently has been added to the Quarantine hotel list we suspect it has been unused for a while. The rooms are VERY dirty. There is mould growing EVERYWHERE, on the doors, walls, mini fridge, carpet, etc... Under and next to the bed we have found 10+ moths casing. We stopped counting.
Rooms: small Both rooms are 17m2 with clean towels, bedsheets and towels for 2 weeks. Lots of bottled water. Some tooth brushes and soap. Water pressure and temperature are good.
Bed: short We got twin beds instead of the double we booked and the beds are short. I am 1.84m and my ankles are hanging over the bed.
Room condition: freezing cold and humid We turned off 1 Aircon in the most mouldy room which makes it a little bit better and keeping the mould spores there.
Desk: tiny and low The desk is small but large enough to put a monitor and your keyboard. The chair is way too low so the table might be at chest level for some ppl.
Internet: slow The WiFi can handle multiple devices, but it is slow. At 2 AM the speedtest result was 4M/4M. The rooms do have wired broadband internet but it will cost 50HKD a day.
After entering our room we immediately contacted the frontdesk but they told us that they were not allowed to change the rooms without approval from the government. We called the hotline and they told us it will take a few hours to days to assess our situation. They will not allow us to change hotels as that would be too much of a risk. The hotel later called us that they did not have any other rooms.
A bit of a nasty start of our stay in HK, but we will be able to see our family and friends :-). We just hope we don't get sick from the Aircon and room.
Stay safe and sane!

Hotel is nice and tall near causeway bay in Hong Kong. Staff is very friendly and speaks good English. The rooms are a bit too cramped in size. Beds were comfortable, TV having lots of functions from restaurant menu, current bill status, flight schedule etc. Hotel is just 2-3 mins walk from the Tin Hau MTR station which makes travelling in hong kong lot easier. Rooms have a magic glass between room and bathroom which becomes see through and blurry with push of a button (quiet funny actually). Did not try the restaurant in the hotel as i am a vegetarian and there were not many options. In room broadband was excellent, speed was fantastic. House keeping was very good. All in all comfortable hotel only size of the room is little too small.
