Getting there
Somewhat walkable
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I was visiting family and friends in Hong Kong over the Christmas and New Year holiday, and stayed at Camlux for my mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine at the beginning of December, before the designated hotel policy came into force.
There were two highlights - the super comfortable bed and the patio. The bed was more comfortable than my own bed (!); the room was one of their 'Garden Rooms' on the fourth floor which has a patio - this is a very unique feature of this hotel, I think very few hotels in Hong Kong can offer something similar.
When I enquired, the friendly Front Desk staff kindly provided me with a simple plastic chair so I could sit in the patio to get some fresh air every day (as well as do some jumping jacks). Don't expect too much of a 'view' though as the plants were basic; I could see several other guests' patios had stone panels which could be used as make shift seats. For my patio I would often see birds land on the top of the branches; for a few mornings I woke up to birdsong which was very nice. I really enjoyed having that patio.
Due to COVID, breakfast was delivered to my door every day, the daily set comprised a sandwich, a piece of fruit, half a pint of fruit juice and a yogurt, it was healthy enough and the amount was just right for me.
Fortunately deliveries were allowed, and these were brought to my room swiftly every time, within 10 mins of them having arrived at Reception.
The bathroom shower’s water pressure was consistently strong; loved the design of the bathroom items and amenity kits!
While the size of the room itself was average, I noticed the ceiling of the room was higher than most of the hotels I've stayed before which made me feel less 'boxed in'. it might not have been designed for someone to stay for 2 weeks but the space was absolutely fine for me 'working from home'.
All in all it was a great stay, I would recommend it whether you are on a business trip, if you just needed a change of scenery or a bit of space for yourself.

In Hong Kong for a day for business and was recommended to stay at this hotel. The appearance was modest and understated. As soon as I walked into the invitingly cozy lobby, I had a feeling that this was a good decision. The lighting in the corridor outside of guest rooms were calming and with good taste. My room was the smallest studio. Nicely decorated and rivals any room in top chains visually. Must come back next time visiting Hong Kong.

Wasn't sure if the place was going to be good when i first checked in due to it being completely new and all. But it's a nice surprise. Room is comfortable and the food is not shabby. Wasn't a pool there but there's a gym for a stretch, so all good.

Dear Bryan W, Thank you for sharing your review with the Tripadvisor community. We are pleased to learn that our facilities were up to your standard. For your information, our hotel was converted from an industrial building with referenced elements of products, that had once been manufactured here before, found throughout the hotel. Should you wish to have a hotel tour on your next visit, please do feel free to let me know. We look forward to welcoming you back. Yours sincerely, Calvin Wong General Manager

Well, where do I start, what a mouldy, smelly horrible place. Arrived on a Friday afternoon, after the most arrogant driver from destination Asia dumped us out the front and said there ya go we stood out the front and took a deep breath. On entry I don’t think one staff member new what I was asking, do you have coffee and milk, whaaat, checked in, got our key and that was it, no help with bags, got in the lift, arrived at 5th floor and the smell, from mould was terrible, got in the room and choofing away in the corner was a humidifier and the air con on. Next morning, breakfast, that was in a box as per photos, see photos and make your own decisions about what to do.

I booked a double room king bed with breakfast included for one night last night. The room was clean, the room quiet, and the bed comfortable, but we were shocked when we got to the restaurant in the morning, we saw that it was closed, and all we got was a bag with a bagel—not even coffee or tea. Why do they offer this option if the restaurant is closed? or at least, why don't they specify that this is the breakfast they offer? I complained to the guy at the counter, but apart from some apologies, I didn't get anything else. Really disappointing. A pity, because the room was quite ok. We could have considered coming here again, but not after this bad experience. One more thing: it's not a good idea to put the smoke detector right on top of the bed having the flashing light on the whole night.

The following review is based on my 40+ stays at varies times throughout the year since the hotel's inception in April 2017. This review is based on my overall experience.
Sleep quality: 8/10
Beds are comfortable with clean sheets. Pillow and mattress quality are consistent across different rooms. Bed placements tend to be deep in most rooms apart from their smallest rooms next to the fire escape exits meaning you're likely to be well away from the corridor thus minimizing noise.
Shower quality: 8.5/10
Generally the water temperature and pressure are excellent and the bathroom designs are well thought out. In comparison with it's competitors and other hotels in it's class Camlux's edge here is that they do not use weak 'water saving' shower heads. Very well done on not compromising guest's comfort to cost saving in the name of 'protecting' the environment.
Privacy: 10/10
This needs to be praised. This hotel highly respects guests privacy and do not put guests on suicide watch lists. Yes! They do not call you at midday or bang on your door to see if you've murdered someone in your room. 80% of all other 3 star establishments in Hong Kong actually do the above rendering your 'Do Not Disturb' light useless. Camlux is perfect for those that would like to sleep in past midday! The hotel's backdoor entrance and staff elevator can also be used in case you need to be discreet.
Service: 7/10
Check in and check outs are generally smooth and the Camlux team are a lot more efficient now since their launch. Front desk staff are generally friendly but housekeeping could do with more training as amenities were not refilled on multiple occasions. A small inconvenience in an otherwise solid all round service.
Other noteworthy strengths:
Camlux opted for two bottles of 700ml water per room per day instead of the tiny inhumane ones often offered by other hotels in it's class.
Rooms are modern with very thoughtful lighting and comfortable designs. They are also bigger than the average room size in Hong Kong with reasonable amount of counter space resulting in very user friendly and cozy rooms.
Transportation and driver friendly. Shuttle buses both form the hotel and the E-Max shopping mall next door does regular trips to the MTR and an abundance of parking nearby.
Weaknesses and areas of improvement:
1. No cable TV with very limited number of channels when compared to other hotels within it's class and price range. This is a real shame and the my biggest complaint.
2. Bathroom amenities has taken a deep dive due to budget cuts. Bathrooms used to come equipped with small face towels and a bar of soap by the sink but are no longer available in standard rooms as they are introducing a new grade type of room soon. Basic amenity such as razor blades are only provided upon request is borderline acceptable but no soap for standard rooms is not. This needs to be addressed by the hotel management asap as it is a basic hygiene necessity and I do not want to be opening and closing the shower door for soap every time I wash my hands. It is sad to see this as Camlux's attention to detail was what outdistanced themselves to their competitors.
3. Quality control: I am able to provide feedback on this due to the different number of rooms I've stayed in and their general status of wear and tear varies. Although the hotel is still very new some rooms are more beaten up than others such as air con dripping or damaged plaster falling off from walls caused by the desk chairs slamming into it. To be fair, these are exceedingly minor issues when compared to the above.
Overall: 8/10. A very solid place to stay and is still albeit not by as much as it used to be ahead of establishments of the same class such as i Club, Hotel Ease, Penta Hotels and Hotel COZi.
Although already mentioned by many others that the location is somewhat not 'ideal' this is subjective in my opinion. The hotel takes proactive steps to provide convenience by their provision of their free shuttle buses and the E-Max shopping centre next door also provides free buses to the MTR in case you missed the one from the hotel. To say that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere is an exaggeration. The hotel is situated close to the ferry terminal away from the CBD but convenient enough that a 20 min taxi ride would take you to most tourist destinations in Kowloon. This is the trade off for not having to pay a premium for location and quieter surroundings.
Camlux in my opinion is still the best in it's class and the most value for money hence my repeated stays and I hope their quality and attention to detail could be maintained and not sacrificed for cost cutting measures in the future.
Top tips:
1. Showing your Camlux hotel card at the E-Max cinemas next door would score you a discount on tickets but you save even more by going to the late night shows with tickets up to 30% off or more.
2. Ask nicely and you might be able to extend your late check out just a little longer. (subject to their room availability on the day of your checkout)
3. Claustrophobic or simply like more space? Ask for a corner room at check in.
4. The food quality and variety at Cafe 15, the hotel's only restaurant is almost always better at lunch than dinner. Want something else to eat nearby? E-Max shopping centre next door has a great variety of food court type eateries ranging from Ramen to Taiwanese to Burgers but many close early at night by Hong Kong standards (around 9pm). Feeling peckish? 759 supermarket on the 1st floor is huge and stocked with a great mix or both local and imported drinks and snacks (also shuts around 9pm).
5. Want to shop till you drop in Kowloon Bay? Take a 15 min stroll to Megabox when your hands are still empty, once you're done there take their free shuttle bus to Telford Plaza (recommend eating there and also the biggest shopping centre in Kowloon Bay) before heading back to E-Max next to the hotel with yet another free shuttle service.

is a decent 4 star hotel in kwun tong district, a bit away from central, but otherwise was likeable, fairly clean and room size as per hong kong standards. staff was courteous & spoke english. room prices are expensive in hong kong & varies significantly depending on several factors (weekends are higher, during festive or others holidays and during important trade fairs too. I would consider staying there again.

Camlux is a hotel built in a repurposed factory. There are photos and items used for decoration that show what the factory produced....very interesting. Comfortable spotless rooms, working A/C, comfy bed, great shower, nice breakfast, helpful front desk! Great stay:)

This boutique hotel is located a 2-minute walk from KITEC in Kowloon Bay. However, this hotel is not close to the Kowloon Bay MTR station. However, as a solution, the hotel has shuttle buses at selected times of the day to bring you to the Prince Edward MTR station. If you miss the hotel shuttle bus, there are shuttle buses from KITEC to Kowloon Bay station from like around 7 am to midnight, which solves this problem.
The hotel is very affordable and is one of the best hotels within this price range in Hong Kong. Honestly, the hotel exceeded expectations. The room is much more beautiful in real life than in photos. The hotel is extremely clean and the rooms are so spacious. The furniture is tastefully modern and the bed is so comfortable!! The washroom was also very clean and very big when compared to other hotels' washrooms in Hong Kong. The hotel also provides you with two free large water bottles and the common amenities/toiletries.
The check-in and out of this hotel was smooth but it did take a while to get our room when we first checked in (but its okay, this can be improved).
I also did not try the cafe connected to the hotel so I cannot give an opinion on that.
All in all, I highly recommend this hotel to everyone who is travelling to Hong Kong who wants to stay in a modern, clean, and spacious hotel on a budget and don't mind the commute from the city centre.

I booked this hotel because of the price and proximity to the cruise terminal. I had an early morning flight and wanted a sleep, shower and somewhere to leave my bags before leaving for my cruise in the evening. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and I was able to get an early check in. The hotel is new, clean, great beds, nice towels and a great shower. It has cute decor too and feels like a boutique hotel. I would recommend this hotel for short stays especially for passengers heading to the cruise terminal. Extremely great value. Five stars considering the price!
