This is a wonderful old property. The rooms are simple and yet comfortable. The staff is helpful (limited English, but communication is possible). There is a wonderful breakfast buffet. Nice exercise, sauna and swimming pool on the 3rd floor.

Recently stayed for two weeks at the Foreign Experts Hotel in Beijing. On the plus side, walkable to Olympic Park (although some hairy road crossings), large one bedroom suites with full kitchen and washing machine (very helpful for two week trip). Downside - staff speaks next to no English, restaurant food and breakfast undistinguished (although excellent coffee), no bar service... More

I stayed two nights at the Foreign Experts Building just before the Spring Festival (春节) as a foreign expert for a foreign-expert meeting. I see from previous reviews that others stay here through hotel bookings. The Foreign Experts Building is not great as a hotel (饭店) but should instead be regarded as a guesthouse (宾馆) and I am rating as... More

This hotel is located close to the Olympic village. The rooms are extremely large with separate living areas, bedroom and small kitchenettes. It seemed most of the hotel smelt of smoke and the decor is looking tired. Unfortunately it isn't near the the subway so difficult to access lots of places in Beijing (as you need to rely on taxis).... More

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel. The Olympic village is within walking distance and the metro conveniently connects it to the Forbidden City. Very nice Chinese buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Friendly people, spacious fully equipped appartments. Do not expect a soft bed though....

The foreign expert's building in Beijing is located at very inconvenient, uneasily approachable location. The location is not easily approachable by bus, subway is very far at least 20 minutes walk. It is difficult to make taxi driver understand about its location. It is average hotel with average environment, very slow internet, average services, average food/buffet, and average standard living... More

This hotel is better than many in the area (near Olympic grounds), although a little tired (carpets, bathrooms). Much to do in walking distance (little corner food stalls, supermarkets, pleasant neighborhoods to walk through to get to transit. Great fun watching morning exercises in the park at base of building. Good swimming pool for exercise. Strange to be a guest... More

My view of this place has to be taken with a grain of salt as I do not speak a word of Chinese and this definitely impacted my experience. That said, it was not at all an unpleasant stay, though the room I got was rather basic and many things that might be complimentary in other hotels had price tags... More

This hotel has a great buffet meal service, with good examples of chinese and muslim-diet approved items. The lobby is spacious, clean and comfortable, and there are good restaurants within walking distance; but you will want a local guide and reference to find them. The public park next door to the west is worth taking some time to enjoy, as... More

This hotel is in an imposing building and as its name implies is catering for foreign experts visiting China. Many reviewers have commented on the lack of English spoken by the staff but this was certainly not a problem for us, we found them polite and extremely helpful. Our accommodation was a small suite of rooms on the top floor.... More
