I have been visiting Grand Hyatt Beijing since 2006 due to investor conferences and business occasions. The old Grand Hyatt gave me an impression that it felt like an old State Owned Enterprise Hotel starting from the moment of check in. Now, a new visit in August since the covid19 pandemic changed my overall impression and I have no reason not to give my standing ovation to the management team and the staff. First off, the management did well for the covid19 protocol. Sanitizer, face masks and etc are all available anywhere in the premise. The staff adhere to the protocol in strict manner. All staff wear face masks tight and keep a distance when talking to guests. This shows the new GM bringing in new management style and I saw that staff are happier at their working space now. At the moment of check in, I met Michelle Li and she is a star. She is polite, fast in handling the check in process and most importantly, she always carries a pleasant smile that I can see it despite wearing a facemask. She has good conservations with guests, and delighting guests all the times. Perhaps she is the best front desk I have ever met during my Hyatt flagship visits as a Globalist tier memeber. On the other hand, Winnie Wang from the front desk deserves a praise for her exceptional service and manner. I feel home everytime I go to the check in desk extending my stay and they are also a reason for me to extend my stay at Beijing Grand Hyatt. They took care of me well and I dont want to move during my business trip in Beijing. Also, at the Club lounge, I am much impressed with another star Wendy Han. Her service is world class. I saw her everywhere servicing guests at the club lounge. In addition, on top of her outstanding efficiency and work ability, she understands how to delight guests. Her pleasant smiles and guestures make me feel great and relax everytime I visit the club lounge and that I would cancel my other social appointments so that I would spare more time to visit the club lounge. At the room, I have to clap my hands for house keeper Ms Liu Jiangmin. She is magnificant. Her attitude towards her work deserves one thousand praises. She is impressive and it is just not about her work attitude but she shows great energy. I use to see house keeping people with cold faces, poor language skills and lack of energy at their work. But Ms Liu deserves my standing ovation for her. Finally, I have to thank their GM who gave away his table at Made In China to me. Table no.9 means a lot to me since 2008 and he has no second thought in giving me the table. We had a great yet short conservation, with his facemask on ;). Alright, after this trip, Beijing Grand Hyatt refreshed me a new image. I see live people with energy and positive manner. Beijing Grand Hyatt is great value for money. I am really impressed and it is not easy in Beijing seriously.

Dear Eric, I red your comments with big joy! I`m always happy if we have guests who give us valued feedback. Even more if it is a from a frequent and experienced traveler as you are. I`m really delighted to get this feedback because we work hard every day to meet and exceed our guests expectations. Especially the last months were very demanding with constantly changing circumstances. I`m very proud of our staff how they managed to keep their corners of the mouth up during this time. And I`ll inform our colleagues mentioned in your email-I`m sure they`ll be very happy to hear that as well. Dear Eric, thank you very much again for your feedback. If you`re planning to come back to us please don`t hesitate to contact me in case I can help with something. Warm regards from the Grand Hyatt, Johannes

We spent a few days in the Grand Hyatt for our anniversary. Upon checking in we were told that our room was upgraded and then when the staff found out it was our anniversary, the came to the room with chocolates and wine. Breakfast was included in the price and was served in the club dining room on the 17th floor. All staff were very helpful and wore masks and gloves. I should say that all the staff were incredibly helpful and patient with our less than elementary Mandarin. The room was spacious and had a view of the Forbidden City in the distance. It was clean and the a/c kept the Beijing summer temps at bay. WiFi in the room - hotel wide actually - was speedy enough. The bed was large but a bit on the firm side. The bathroom had separate tub and shower stalls and met our needs without issue. The hotel’s gym was great for us. It included bikes, treadmills, weights, a yoga room, and other items. We used it each morning we were there. The hotel’s location is ideal. One exit empties directly into a mid to high end range shopping mall with restaurants and name brands. It is also a short walk from the Wanfujing walking street where there is more to see, eat and buy. The level of service we received at the hotel was a definite high point during our stay. Questions were answered quickly or not at all because they made sure we had the info we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

The room was very dirty; the employees were rude and cold; there was no food service at all due to the threat of Conoravirus which is understandable. The gym was shut down. However, I have to say the location is good.

The property offered more than our expectations. The location is very convenient inside the oriental plaza area. And the underground pool was too good. Stayed only one night there and I was quite satisfied.
