This is not a hotel, it is an apartment building that rents out some rooms, kind of like Airb&b. They are okay studio apartments the furniture is okay but it is a studio apartment so it is very small. Now if this is your first time in China, do not stay here. It is extremely difficult to find the building and the “front desk”. Luckily we had a driver that helped us by asking people where to go. The beds are really hard and the sheets had holes on them. The “toiletries” were big bottles of shampoo (like the ones you buy for home) and lotion. There is no safe in the room and the door does not have a lock outside of the one you open with the key. The walls are paper thin and you could hear people walking down the hall as well as people in their apartments talking and watching TV. Checking was okay, but the housekeeping staff needs to knock a few times before barging in. The first morning there, we woke up late since we were tired and the housekeeper knocked once before letting herself in, we let her know we did not want service, she understood and put a do not disturbe sign outside our door. About an hour later she knocked and walked in again, even after we had the do not disturb sign outside the door and had told her we didn’t want service. Check out took too long. Overall, do not stay here if you are vacationing, stay at an actual hotel. If you are going to be staying in Beijing for a while (2 months or more) and you would like your own apartment to cook in, then maybe stay here.

Ikea-styled studio close to dongzhimen station, airport line and many restaurants. Comfortable and convenient. Mattress is a bit hard, and there was a strong smell of smoke in the bathroom. Overall recommended.

Well located close to Donzhimen subway station and shopping malls (about 10 min walking). It's a bit hard to find it on the first time, but look for number 38 and 36 from Donzhimen Outer St, then walk into a small alley and reach a small street behind parallel to Donzhimen Outer St and you should find a gate with security. The front desk is on the ground floor of one of the buildings. The units are not really well maintained. We had to ask them to change units as the first one was really not in good condition. But you find everything you need including kitchen and laundry stuff. Go for it if you're looking for budget and good location. There is express subway to and from the airport to Donzhimen station.

I have traveled to China for 10 years now (about once a month). I have always stayed in this area of town because it is convenient for various types of public transport and there is a lot of nightlife. Earlier this year a colleague introduced me to the New Oriental Suites and at last I have freedom! I do not want to eat out every night so the opportunity to be able to cook for myself is fantastic. I have now stayed in 4 different apartments and can say that they are all clean and are pretty fair condition. Don't expect great luxury but for the price it is a very fair deal. The development is close to but sufficiently far from the main road and I am very pleased with the peace and quiet that I get here. The staff speak very limited English but are friendly and try very hard. In fact the friendliness of the staff is one of the reasons that I will keep going back! The location is about a 10 minute walk from the Airport Express station, so access to the Airport is quick and cheap and there are some good convenience stores close by. There is one in the development itself which is probably a bit easier for Chinese guests but if you leave by the South Gate, turn right and walk about 200 metres you will find a Jenny Lu's shop which stocks good quality food and is easy for a westerner. I have also found a French butcher and Baker within easy walking distance so what more could you ask for?

Location was good with the Metro and major bus station (buses to Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall) only two blocks away. A local grocery store and restaurants close by with a shopping center and larger take aways just two blocks away. The apartment was a good size but a bit tired and not as clean as it should have been but not filthy either. The gardens / compound are nothing special. If you like independence and this suits your budget than go for it. Not suitable for those that want English speaking reception and hotel trimmings.
