The Fairmont Beijing is a beautiful hotel that exudes an east-meets-west theme. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated although they are starting to look tired with wooden fixtures, like the desk, appearing quite worn. While the overall experience of the facility felt consistent with other Fairmont properties, service, particularly in the dining room was very inconsistent. On arriving at the buffet, for example, the woman on duty seemed to lack any type of EQ as she moved abruptly in front of me like a security guard and then yelled “room number”. Some of the food in the breakfast buffet appeared to sit too long with some items like the cheese plate being dry and hard. Details like replacing depleted dinner plates, not refilling sugar beside the coffee machine, providing coffee spoons, to not having a bread knife with which to cut into the large baguettes that were on display were annoying. Used plates often piled up on tables despite a manager who seemed to float around the room doing nothing while a sea of his personnel failed to take any initiative to look out for the needs of their patrons unless they were told to. While the hotel gives the appearance of having many staff at your beck and call, most of them were nothing more than wall flowers; unable to address even small requests or at best, just an annoyance. For example, our team members were frequently badgered by a woman in the lobby who stared at us the whole time, almost eves dropping. While she did frequently ask us how our stay was, when we mentioned that, for example, our room keys frequently became deactivated, she seemed totally disinterested in continuing the conversation or pursuing a resolution with front desk staff. Her whole role seemed like a shallow facade; to simply ask how are stay was going. On check out, when I went to retrieve my checked luggage, the attendant brought out someone else’s bags and, getting frustrated as our taxi was waiting, I eventually had to go behind the desk to retrieve my bags myself, all of which did have tags that matched the receipt-tags I had been given. Rather than having a lot of staff who serve no authentic purpose, HR should look to hiring quality staff who can multi-task, are intuitive and can provide true value-added service.…

It was no option to choose suitable pillow. But the the room was fantastic and they clean the room twice aday. Reception staff was really cooperative for guiding and taking taxi. The hotel had no summing pool. The bar was so quite. Breakfast was amazing.

Hello reader, I have stayed in this hotel for about 45 days on a business trip. I believe my review to be quite accurate. The Fairmont hotel is a very good place to stay for weekends or longer stays. Its quite close to the subway which you can use to go everywhere. The hotel staff is amazing. Because of my longer stay I had access to the lounge. I would like to thank Cassie, Nick, Walker, Romy and Angel for their kidness and excellent service during my evenings here. They all deserve a big compliment. The food in the lounge is free and very good, especially the deserts!The food is very good in general, also roomservice. Dont order the margaritta pizza though when you want a late night snack. All the rest is pretty good. Breakfast has a big variaty of choices and they are all good. There is 1 member of staff called Eric who I would like to thank in perticular as he gave me a lot of tips and was very friendly and helpful. There is 1 improvement point for the breakfast and that are the spoons and clamps you use to collect food. Due to sometimes the breakfast being very full, these things scatter and go all over the place. Its a minor thing and not the hotels fault, usually its idiot guests who dont care. The gym is very good, i went there for a lot of workouts and find my physique to have developped. The gym has a good amount of equipment and is never to busy. I also got 1 massage, which was very good quality. My room was nice always cleaned and left properly by housekeeping. If i had laundry it was always processed the same day which is very nice. I even had a massage chair which was a new one for me, very nice! All in all my stay here was excellent. Ive been to many hotels in my life for work, this one easely is one of the best. We stayed for 6 nights in a one bedroom suite located on the 22nd floor. Hotel is located in a quiet area of Yongan-Li, surrounded by business offices and blocks of SOHO style apartments. The hotel is easily accessible from the Yongan-Li subway station (exit C), about 400m away. There is an indoor pool, a well equipped fitness centre and a Spa. The all day dining restaurant on the Lower Lobby serves a range of ala carte and buffet whilst a steakhouse on the 2nd floor serves an array of steak and seafood. Room was well laid out and spacious with an ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. The bedroom can easily fit a rollaway bed. The chaise lounger can also be converted to a bed for young child. Overall, staff were friendly and eager to assist. Most of the front desk staff speaks good or basic English. Journey was most helpful whenever we needed assistance with calling a taxi. She would provide information on the area that we were heading. We would certainly recommend the hotel.…

Hotel is the standard quality you expect with all Fairmonts. Staff help you quickly and in English. They are quick to help give you everything you need. Breakfast is diverse and delicious. Lobby bar downstairs is nice for quick coffee and dessert. Dinner and lunch room service prices are not different from the prices you see for western food outside the hotel.

We stayed here during the school holiday and it was excellent. The rooms are big and very clean, the pool and spa area was very nice to relax in too! The thing we enjoyed most about staying here was the excellent service from reception staff and service staff. Elena went above and beyond to help us plan a trip and even contacted places for us to help us book tickets which we were very grateful for. We had a club room, so we were able to access the lounge and order food and had complimentary drinks. The food was delicious! I would definitely stay here again!

Stayed here for 1,5 weeks for business. Altough the hotel is not the newest, it is very stylish and in perfect condition. Most of all is the more than amazing service of all staff. This is a significant difference compared to the other 5 star hotels here. Special thanks to Elena but also Ava and Vivian. The spa services are highly recommended. The quality of the food via roomservice is outstanding! Super hotel!

Unacceptable service at breakfast, which is due to systemic management issues leading to staff frustration and poor customer service. Some examples include: 1. The egg chef was playing on his phone while cooking — this is incredibly unsanitary as phones are full of bacteria. I asked him politely for an omelette and he he said no, quite impolitely - there was a huge pile of eggs there but he couldn’t be bothered to crack any more (it was before the end of breakfast). 2. There was no ladle in the yogurt - this was the case on two out if three days. 3. My cutlery was laid out for me with visible dirt on it. 4. There was no milk for the cereal. 5. No spoons were provided. 6. A request for milk (there was cereal and no milk…) was met with exasperation/incredulity from the staff when they thought I couldn’t hear. I complained directly to the hotel in writing and requested the contact details of the GM during my stay but I received no reply. …

Firstly, I waited 30 minutes to check-in. It was not a busy day, but the counter processing time was too long. Six to seven guests would take you 30 minutes? I think that's too long. Secondly, my room's window is not closed well. At first, we felt it's a bit cold and we thought it's because of the air conditoiner problem. Until late night, my girlfriend almost got a cold. So I called the service, and the maintanence personel came into my room and found that it's because of the window. MY ROOM'S WINDOW WAS NOT CLOSED PROPERY! Can you imagine that happen in a cold winter day in Beijng in a 5 star hotel? No wonder we didn't find out earlier. Who could have thought that it's because the window was not closed? Thirdly, for breakfast, bad experience once more. The waiter brought us to the table and didn't ask what we would like to drink (that's fine to me actually, I can ask or take it myself). Then, we went to grab the food, we came back, and we found that our table was taken by other people. Can you imagine this happen in a 5 star hotel? We were sitted already and booked the table and after a few minutes, our table is gone? It's really nonsense. And the food refill was really slow, a lot of empty plates waiting to be filled.
